  • I totally add a little stretch here and there during company class too. A little goes a long way before a day of rehearsals.

  • Fragile strength ^^ I love watching their legs!

  • Comment removed

  • @Petitechouette36 It looks like she has enough strength. She could hold her leg up there. PLUS she is in the Kirov Ballet. Wouldn't that be enough to know she is a strong dancer?

  • I want that turnout and extensions. Than I'm happy. I suck

  • J'adore la discipline et la volonté de ces gens.

  • All I can say is beautiful video the 2 females in the middle have good control and strength. They have nice lines and everything.

  • @sparklypinktoast They're probably hungry and tired.

  • i wntto be as good as them, they are so gorgeous :o who is the girl in the middle??

  • ....could have sworn e'carte was e'carte.....and not a tilt :(

  • @kmodancer she did both

  • @kmodancer I think it can be done both ways, depending on what the ballet mistress sets for the exercise. Also bear in mind that this was a company class prior to a rehearsal. Sometimes professional ballet dancers take liberties with the exercise to achieve their own aims, to get an extra stretch, to loosen a joint, to warm up a body part - anything. Ballet teachers accept this at the professional level but would never condone it in classes for students in training.

  • Who is the dancer that is focused on?

  • They sure all looks happy on the stage~ and that matters!! i'v seen dancers looking rather plain / no impression on stage on some ROH production which is rather disappointing!

  • I think, they are just very tired! They are geat!

  • hi hip2hopgirl, thanks for posting - is the teacher olga chenchikova?

  • Que escândalo é a perna dessa bailarina do meio, quem é ela?

  • I wanna take class wit dem!

  • dream on sucker :)

  • Wow! I love videos from ballet class.

  • wow I saw them Live in Russia ... Romeo and Juliet ... the girl in the middle danced Juliet ... =)

  • there all amazing but they look like they're suffering, am I wrong? the russian dancers never look happy.. it's really sad :(

  • Inspiring !!!!!!! and gorgeous !!

Bella Bella, bonita !! WOW !!!!

This is a good practice video, hopefully I can get that flexible, so amazing !!! Thank you for sharing !!

  • This does not come naturally! Look up Russian rhythmic gymnastics on this website and you will see some impressive flexibility. These girls have to stretch like mad as well, though not quite so extreme. This kind of beauty in not achieved without sweat and tears!

  • Thank you for your suggestion! I viewed several RG videos and as you say, the artists are fantastic. Russians (in my humble opinion) always stand out - ballet, gymnastics, figure skating - because of their distinctive upper body training - head, epaulement, back. No other training in the world produces these consistently exceptional artists. Particularly impressive in this clip are the transitions through ecarte; maintaining those elegant lines requires almost super-human strength.

  • How does their school produce those incredible extensions??? What is the secret?? They make it look effortless, and it's so, so difficult.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • omg that is freakin amazing!

  • hey i didnt even notice that girl in the middle is Ekaterina Osmolkina.

  • WHAAAAAAAAAAAT

  • OMG

  • These girls are amazing

  • they are splendid...

  • that one girl with the pant leg warmer things is really good...

  • that girl is so beautiful that i just died

  • the girl in the center is Jekaterina Osmolkina, principal,a young rising star!I have been watching her since Vaganova academy! She was chosen once to dance with Carlos Acosta for a gala when she just joined the company. And she always looks so sleepy, lazy, but that's her thing!I love her!

  • she also is lifting her hip a LOT in her extensions. might as well be rhythmic gymnastics, all contortion

  • que bestias son ah las dosa que la filman que tal extenciones son unas malditras tienen un ecarte maldito me dan asco las dos las envidio y hasen competencia OHH DIOS

  • what beauty and what grace! She looks like she could fall asleep!

    ~peace and LOVE forever~

  • genial este video!!!

    pufff cuanta flexibilidad!!!

  • increiible!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My goodness!!! Let them be me. I'd love to see myself do that!!! LOL :D

  • The girls wowed me, the boy near the end of the film on the left, made me cry. Only in my dreams.

  • have you people ever seen an actual company take class before? they always look like that, they dont have to work on their expressions at the barre because they already have them from years and years of training. AND their director knows that too. when you get to a level of professionalism, when you do barre, sometimes you need to work on your legs more than your arms and look at the line in the mirror, which is what the girl is doing.

  • they have beautiful lines and extension... but the transitions from one movement to another and what not just kind of ruins it because it's so... not in the context of ballet? the girl with the purple legwarmers when she's doing her developes doesn't make very graceful transitions and personally, i think that's something that's very important.

  • every inch of their body is perfectly trained, every santimeter of every angle is examined...that goes far beyond the legs. No need to see them dancing, the look to their bodies is sufficient

  • yeah yeah nice legs.

    but can they dance.

  • you can see how they're bored...hehe, they're like, this is TOO easy! I'd be sweating a gallon by this time, my face would be tomato-red, and my teeth would hurt from grinding! (not even going to mention my body, because i can't do it half as well, or even a tenth as well)

  • and i thought i was flexible.... goddamit *lunges onto the floor and starts stretching furiously*

  • Someone needs to get a life so that he stops posting so much on Youtube. Oh, I guess that would be me!

  • That can only come from years and years of training the whole body, not just the legs. Nothing wrong with American dancers, who do a lot right by the way. It's just a difference in emphasis in training that I'm pointing to.

  • Let's not forget that these dancers were inspected at, like, age six to see if they had the right bodies for dance and then, if they were admitted to the school, given intensive training every day, every month thereafter until they were ready for the company. All subsidized by the govt. A big advantage compared to American dancers whose training is a patchwork

  • There is such a unity of schooling and style and expression of upper body such that you would never find in a group of American trained dancers. Watch between 48s and 52secs. Notice how at the top of the developpe devant, all the dancers open up the upper part of their raised arm, as well as turn their eye and head to the "audience", if not necessarily at the same time, then most assuredly in the same style.

  • This video might have been taken while the company was on tour, or taking company class backstage, a decidedly different atmosphere from a studio ballet class, which may also account for the "laziness". A class on tour simply becomes a "maintenance" class and all sorts of bad habits can creep in to one's technique, as in not doing the entire combination "full out". Nevertheless, the Kirov Ballet, particularly the women of the corps de ballet, are a wonder to behold.

  • the disgusting thing is... ALL the dancers on that barre have great extension. not just the one in the middle.

  • wow. my extension needs some work LOL!

  • what kind of lazy bar work...?

  • yea this is nothing compared to my class...

  • they may as well lay on the bar

  • muy buen video danzaballet

  • Wow! I love videos from ballet class. I like very much look at exercices which dancers are doing. Mmmm, one dancer in the center is great. What an extension!!! Russian dancers are the best! :)
