its funny cuz i wasnt gonna watch this but its true its music, entertainment, and probably fragments of life and others lives.Tom Waits is the best and you cant get better music cause theres are a reason why its always sincere....cuz hes the realness.xcan you feel this???
"waiting for the sun" de barney hoskyns est tout simplement un chef d' oeuvre, une ode a l'histoire de la musique de los angeles (zappa, gto's, crosby,nash.....) a lire absolument ainsi que "hotel california" et "san francisco".
Barney Hoskyns is a fabulous. His book no Southern Soul is a brilliant read...read the book and then track down all the records ...goon on you Barney ( Nasty Nigel Melbourne)
part 3 I do believe that his last versions of his early material performed till the early eighties are probably the very best versions, however, he will not stylize his performance any more with that type of singing. He grew up in front of our eyes, but has never lost his love of all things forbidden, lost, mysterious, passionate, theatrical, broken, and gone. You cannot talk seriously about Tom Waits without including the word love.
part 2-His stylistic approaches became a groundboard unto which W. could make quantum leaps off of. He reassembled reality into tonal poems that maximized personality, melody, will, and time. He had the guts to discard his first stage booster, and as his being became more sophisticated lay his first years persona to rest.
I always felt that the impulses that governed Mr. W. were powerful, heartfelt, tough as nails, and very emotional. Was the door he went through one of his own making? Was it based more on a love of the theatrical, as a way to express oneself? Or was it a love of story, expression, shadows, elemental humanity, and american musical history?

You'll never really get it without it.
