Steven and Dane have two totally different styles and talents.

Steven is a songwriter, and a great comedian, and follows many "comic" guidelines - normal comedian conventions, put into his awesome songs, backed up by great guitar work.

Dane breaks a lot of traditional conventions (no punchlines, odd delivery). How he tells his stories is often times more interesting than the stories themselves. And missing some of those elements makes him awesome or really suck, depending on your tastes.
