Great lesson! People are to critical! Why cant we all learn from each other. I am a drum teacher, but Im also a student always willing to learn from others!
This is so amazing correctly played, thanks for learning me how to play it on an hour, the solo is so amazing! ;D i listened carefully to the song, and this match completely..
nope, the groove is wrong, its not what he plays on the record. in the first part of the video, you miss out the doubles on the kick, as well as the hi-hat licks.
I've been drumming for 30 years, lol, and I'm sorry but this drumming is out of time by a split second. I can offer lessons on improvement if you wish?
No probs. I guess we'll start with posture. Your back is straight, but it could be straighter, you know? This may sound silly, but the straighter the back, the harder you can hit the skins. Hands: try grasping those sticks tighter for the rolls, and looser for the high-hat. You'll find those drums practically hit themselves. That kit: is it made out of Lego? Get yourself a decent kit and you'll be a real boy, Pinnochio. If I give you my details, can you forward £40 for this lesson please?
how do i know my toms are making the right sound? i tightened the skin (thats what she said) and it sounds different but i dont know if its better or worse
Hit them as hard as you can with a hammer. If the hammer bounces off them with ease then you know you have the right pitch. If they are floppy then tighten the screws so much that the vein in your forehead might explode. If there's one thing I've learned in this business, it's that you can't tune a drum kit without your a trusty hammer.
can i do that without the hammer please i dont wanna break them ive not been drumming fofr long im saving for a ride cymbal i dont wanna break it - they're pretty tight already shall i just tighten them more?
If you're a bit nervous about the hammer, you can always use the yellow pages. Drop the Yellow Pages from a high height onto each tom. If there's a dull thud then you need to tighten them as much as possible.
I think "Ivebeendrummingfor30yrs" is being a LITTLE sarcastic. ;-)
This is how I go about it...
Tighten the top head so that it feels comfortable to play on, it doesn't have to be super tight though! You can then tune the drum by adjusting the bottom head. You want both top and bottom heads to be roughly the same tightness as each other as this will produce the most even sound. Every drum is different though.
I was self taught and so learnt to play right handed on a left handed kit. I have since learnt to play with my feet around the "normal" way but have never been able to really let go of my stronger left foot.
Thanks for your interest and I hope that made sense!
what kit is that?

I don't think Nickelback uses a electronic. For the lessons I tink you should use a real kit.
It shows the timing and everything so good job.
