In the USA, church bells once rang out over towns: playing Christian songs, announcing time for church, etc. They are banned from most towns now. There's no difference in "Christian noise" and "Muslim noise" affecting those who don't want to hear it.

I am against religion, but to me promoting reason and truth are the best ways to fight religion. I would be happy to see the end of religion, but don't like to see it coming to this. Still, Islam supports killing non-beleivers (even if most muslims say they don't, I saw more talk of muslim outrage over comics than muslim outrage over 9-11), so by that measure banning minarets is pretty soft.

In the USA, church bells once rang out over towns: playing Christian songs, announcing time for church, etc. They are banned from most towns now. There's no difference in "Christian noise" and "Muslim noise" affecting those who don't want to hear it.

I am against religion, but to me promoting reason and truth are the best ways to fight religion. I would be happy to see the end of religion, but don't like to see it coming to this. Still, Islam supports killing non-beleivers (even if most muslims say they don't, I saw more talk of muslim outrage over comics than muslim outrage over 9-11), so by that measure banning minarets is pretty soft.

It is important to remember that while Switzerland conjurs up a sophisticated, international image, it is rather, a nation of small mountain villages, inhabited by small minded, proudly racist, white folk.
Also good to remember that if the UK or Germany were true democracies, i.e., the voting is done by the people by referendum, and not the politians elect, the vote would go a similar way. I beleive Europeans are simply fed up with religious stupidy. Keep it in your own countries!
