However, it's fallacious thinking that social wrongs cancel each other out, i.e. child labor/ worker exploitation in the current capitalist system cancels out the exploitation of African resources, so it's okay not to do anything about the African issue. That is incorrect. All of these social injustices must be dealt with. The suffering I experience does not make the suffering my neighbor experiences acceptable.
The main difference in the case of South Americans and Africans is that they continue to be exploited and most U.S. citizens think it is fine because it fulfills their consumer wants. Most of the child laborers in this country have since been able to reap the benefits of the same ruling class that exploited them in the first place, whereas Africans and Mexicans are given welfare and told that it's a valid solution.
It's not okay to steal billions in diamonds, cobalt, human labor and other resources and then give out piddly welfare checks as pacification. Welfare, indigenous "reservations" etc are an insult, they do not constitute reparations. Getting U.S. troops and corporations out of other people's land, and giving back the profits made from that land, is the answer.
Very recently, the U.S. African community was disproportionately targeted for subprime mortgage loans, effectively causing people to inevitably lose their homes after 2-3 years of pouring money into mortgage payments. This practice evolved from the earlier practice of "redlining". Whites have not been targeted en masse in similar lending practices. It's hard as a white person to accept this, but it's true.
This is a bad slant on the issue. Banks were told to lend to low income blacks as a way to "give" them housing for which they would not have qualified on their income anyway. No one forced them to take out the loans...they did it to be greedy

This is not accurate. Black families who had the same income levels as whites were sold subprime mortgages when they actually qualified for lower interest rates. I can suggest several articles to you. They were lied to by Wells Fargo (among others) as to what kind of loan they qualified for. This was, in fact, so that banks could then sell these bad mortgages to investment companies and make more money. Wells Fargo is currently being investigated for this. Check it out.
None of these deadbeats should get mortgages if they cannot qualify with the same criteria that is used for everyone else. In my state 25% of housing in each town has to be for the deadbeats. They only have to produce 2 paystubs to qualify. Can you say FORECLOSURE?
As I mentioned, we're talking about people who did in fact qualify for mortgages with average interest rates. Not those who live in low-income government housing. That's another issue altogether, which has nothing to do with home ownership. Typically those who live in the projects do not qualify for mortgages at all.

Getting a job is not the answer at all, actually. The average hourly wage worker in this country (particularly for Africans) does not earn enough to make ends meet, even with overtime. Check out poverty level statistics. This means that these wage workers will never be able to own property or retire from working, effectively keeping them tied to the system until they reach the age of 63, qualify for social security, and then die shortly thereafter. An answer for the ruling class, yes.
I do not want to comment on the "large %" issue, but there is a reponsibility to get an education that would provide marketable skills, not BS crap like "women's studies" or some lib arts crap.
Many "liberal arts", or degrees in the humanities lead to lucrative positions in academia, sometimes tenured positions. It's not accurate that those are the people who are experiencing high rates of unemployment.
I don't think the problem with the African community is that they go to school for bogus degrees. Most of them go to community colleges and trade schools for things that are considered very marketable. Unfortunately, those jobs, and the jobs that are available to persons with no college degree, do not pay very much. Africans are also unlikely to be hired for jobs in certain sectors for a variety of reasons that mostly revolve around whites not liking their culture.
In more urban areas, this is less of a problem. For example, in NYC and the surrounding boroughs, residents embrace multiculturalism more than people in smaller cities and towns. In a small town, a person is likely to be shunned if they are not like other people who live there. This reaches to things like not being called back for jobs because you have an ethnic sounding name. Studies show.

However, it's fallacious thinking that social wrongs cancel each other out, i.e. child labor/ worker exploitation in the current capitalist system cancels out the exploitation of African resources, so it's okay not to do anything about the African issue. That is incorrect. All of these social injustices must be dealt with. The suffering I experience does not make the suffering my neighbor experiences acceptable.

The main difference in the case of South Americans and Africans is that they continue to be exploited and most U.S. citizens think it is fine because it fulfills their consumer wants. Most of the child laborers in this country have since been able to reap the benefits of the same ruling class that exploited them in the first place, whereas Africans and Mexicans are given welfare and told that it's a valid solution.

It's not okay to steal billions in diamonds, cobalt, human labor and other resources and then give out piddly welfare checks as pacification. Welfare, indigenous "reservations" etc are an insult, they do not constitute reparations. Very recently, the U.S. African community was disproportionately targeted for subprime mortgage loans, effectively causing people to inevitably lose their homes after 2-3 years of pouring money into mortgage payments. This practice evolved from the earlier practice of "redlining". Whites have not been targeted en masse in similar lending practices. It's hard as a white person to accept this, but it's true.

This is a bad slant on the issue. Banks were told to lend to low income blacks as a way to "give" them housing for which they would not have qualified on their income anyway. No one forced them to take out the loans...they did it to be greedy

This is not accurate. Black families who had the same income levels as whites were sold subprime mortgages when they actually qualified for lower interest rates. I can suggest several articles to you. They were lied to by Wells Fargo (among others) as to what kind of loan they qualified for. This was, in fact, so that banks could then sell these bad mortgages to investment companies and make more money. Wells Fargo is currently being investigated for this. Check it out.

None of these deadbeats should get mortgages if they cannot qualify with the same criteria that is used for everyone else. In my state 25% of housing in each town has to be for the deadbeats. They only have to produce 2 paystubs to qualify. Can you say FORECLOSURE?

As I mentioned, we're talking about people who did in fact qualify for mortgages with average interest rates. Not those who live in low-income government housing. That's another issue altogether, which has nothing to do with home ownership. Typically those who live in the projects do not qualify for mortgages at all.
Also, the U.S. government creates welfare mothers, keeping the cycle of welfare state going.

Getting a job is not the answer at all, actually. The average hourly wage worker in this country (particularly for Africans) does not earn enough to make ends meet, even with overtime. Check out poverty level statistics. This means that these wage workers will never be able to own property or retire from working, effectively keeping them tied to the system until they reach the age of 63, qualify for social security, and then die shortly thereafter. An answer for the ruling class, yes.

I don't think the problem with the African community is that they go to school for bogus degrees. Most of them go to community colleges and trade schools for things that are considered very marketable. Unfortunately, those jobs, and the jobs that are available to persons with no college degree, do not pay very much. Africans are also unlikely to be hired for jobs in certain sectors for a variety of reasons that mostly revolve around whites not liking their culture.

In more urban areas, this is less of a problem. For example, in NYC and the surrounding boroughs, residents embrace multiculturalism more than people in smaller cities and towns. In a small town, a person is likely to be shunned if they are not like other people who live there. This reaches to things like not being called back for jobs because you have an ethnic sounding name. Studies show.

The President of the USA is an example of someone who is a decendant of an African but not a decendant of a slave. Being simply a black person in the US would not make you eligible for anything. You would have to have proof that you were in fact a decendant of a slave and proof isnt simply "because my grandma says so".
