Battling waves of ninja guards alongside snake with a katana, fighting a bunch of unmanned metal gears with the freaking stinger missle launcher and having a sword fight with solidus snake on top of federal hall, ALL AWESOME!!!

When metal gear solid kicks off, theres not much that can compare to it really (at least IMO).

Man, this whole section is just one big mindfuck, the first time i played this it just completely derailed me when i found out that the colonel isnt even real and the whole thing was just one big simulation to recreate solid snake, and i very nearly shut off the game when the colonel randomly calls and says "Raiden, turn the game console off right now!!"

Between the strange, random calls and the fact you are naked, this is far and away the WEIRDEST section in any game that ive played.

@100espada Yeah, they didnt make sense to me at first, but i watched the making of mgs2 and apparently they are the names of the internal organs of a whale, because hideo kojima wanted playing the section in arsenal gear to feel like when pinoccio got swallowed by the giant whale in the movie.

Like when you get to the top of arsenal, and you have the chance to save, youll notice it says "arsenal gear-rectum" Rectum is another word for arse, so its like youve come out of the arse of arsenal gear.

That game has actual "Fear Measure" and as your character becomes more afraid or 'unstable' by what happens to them and what they see the more 'freaked out' you become. Anyone else here played or know what I'm talkin about? Maybe it's even on YouTube. They make you think your console has shut off, that you shrunk, that something BLEW YOU UP and you DIED! o_O IT WAS NUTS, and AWSOME! ^_^ XD

Ocacon stated the Nanomachines in Raiden's body were creating false memories in his brain that made him think the Colonel was talking to him. However the virus that E.E. created started to take effect and the GW/AI started to become nonfunctional. Later during the fight with Solidus, the Patriots took over his nanomachines/codec/brainwaves and started talking to him directly.

@XmetaI4everX: As for Rosemary, I am unsure whether or not it was the real one in the beginning up until Arsenal Gear. She kept trying to remind Raiden of April 30th, the day they met, and at the end of the game Raiden comments to Rose that he remembered, which would suggest she was actually apart of the mission and actually talking to him via codec. Also why would she be in Manhattan at the end of the game? How could she know what was going on?

@Nicholas121093: Still others suggest she was also a computer program and wasn't apart of the mission. Anyway she was also replaced by a Patriot during the fight with Solidus.

Finally, the mission/role given to Raiden was from the Patriots, albeit he was deceived for the most part. Also the Patriots would kill Rose if he did not defeat Solidus so that is why she is "safe" at the end of the game.

I finished the game for the first time around 6:30 in the morning. I had gone through the entire last part from a bit before the inside of Metal Gear to the boss fight and the crazy plot twists at the end of the game. It was extremely creepy; the girl in the radar window and the FISSION MAILED screen made me squirm the most, I think. Amazing story, though. If you haven't read it, I recommend looking at the Ending Analysis guide on GameFAQs. Really good read, helps a lot.
