  • Hey there playhard , i dig your truck man ! ive had my 77 f250 for twenty years. hows that stroker motor holding up? im realy intereted to know . i wanted to build the exact same engine but at the time didnt have the extra cash for the p51 head stroker , so i stuck with a new 9.5;1 iron 429 head 450 hp 460 , with a crower custom hyd flat tappet . its a great combo for my 5900lb 4x4 , but ofcourse i sure love the stroker that you built , it sure looks like it hauls ass !!!

  • this truck is pretty sick

the only thing wrong with it is that its automatic :(

  • "Mitteey" its not smoke its steam, nice truck man im lookin at a 90 f350 with a 460. ford all the way brotha

  • damn nice truck

  • why dose it smoke

  • You live portland oregon? i swear ive seen this truck before.

  • Yep live in Portland area. Truck goes to Portland international raceway a few times a year @pantera4ever91

  • @playhard557 Thats where ive seen it. Very nice truck. When i get mine done ill post a vid and maybe see you down there.

  • nice truck

  • lol got this exact same truck, looks identical

  • hi guys

    I have a quiestion?

can i install 71 older dove heads to my 79 for pickup (460),

i may buy a 1970 lincoln.. that i will use for parts and then take it to the cusher..

if so what else do i need to change?

I will rebuild the engine in my truck and i would like to get more power out of it..

thanks for your help i hope my truck sounds like this when done.>.>>

  • hardened valve seats on the exhaust for unleaded gas, port the exhaust, machine the rocker pedastals for adjustability, 3 angle vavle job and run split duration cam like the comp cams xtreme engergy 268.

high rise dual plane, 750 carb, good tuned distributor, Headers are a must.

  • How is the DOVE head swap workin out 4 ya? Im buildin a 521 CID rite now, im porting out a set of DOVE heads, I think im done with the intake ports, i cleaned the ridge off around the seats, big obstruction rite there, I just drilled out, and ground the emmisions bump on the exaust side, now im goin over both heads and finishing them up..ya got any? just ask.

  • THANKS.. MAN

    yes i have few questions

i bought a 70 lincoln wich has the dove c heads, my truck is a 79 4x4 with the 351m, i sold it all ready..

    i also bought a 78 f150 4x4 that has the 460 and it is 4x4,

what would be the best thing swap the lincoln motor or the truck motor,

    the lincoln motor runs great..

thanks and good luck with your project!!

  • Id drop the lincoln motor into one of the trucks. The lincoln has 365 HP and 500 lbs torque. You can freshen up the lincoln motor, if it needs it, and while the block is bein freshened up, have the ports on the DOVE head's cleaned up, then get yourself a edelbrock dual plain performer intake, and have it port matched to your heads, get a nice set of headers, you can also put in a rollerized cam, lifter's, and full roller rocker's. What are you lookin to build any ideas.

  • thanks for the information..

i just want my truck to run strong, but at the same time that i can drive it every day if needed. i don't care much about the MPG I know this motor will take a lot of gas..

    your information if apreciated..

    have a great day..

  • The motor will run great, 500 plus pounds of torque will twist that truck rite around...LOL..The motor will be more efficent, and run quit abit better with what I told ya to do. A stock 460 after the year 71 only puts out like 200 hp and 345 on the torque, so the lincoln motor will dominate over that like it's nothin.

  • thanks man

i have a edelbrock hight performance aluminium intake and a doble pump holly, and and edelbrock carb as well..

    wich one is better, ?

what would be a good cam for this motor?

    thanks for all your information..

i will start doing all that as soon as the weather gets a little better here in denver Colorado... we have a lot of snow right now!!!!

  • Ya, we got pounded with snow her in PA to. What size are both the carbs? I would not go over 600 CFM.. Is the edelbrock a dual plain manifold, or is it a single plain? You probably allready know, but a dual plain manifold has a divider in the center of the plenium, 460's make there power from 1500 RPM up to 4500 not much more than that, the dual plain manifolds are ment to improve power in that RPM range.

  • As far as the cam goes, you can use the stock one, or you can swap it out for an aftermarket Hydraulic Flat tappet cam, Ya want to keep the duration on the cam low around 218 220, no more than 500 lift on the intake or exaust. Or you can call your local racing shop, or summit racing, and they will hook ya up with a good cam that will fit your set up.

  • What a nice truck!

  • mmmmmm, god damn that truck is sexy!

  • nice truck man.

  • This car no is it a ford 1979. Maybe is a model 1976-1978 but not a model ´79.

The model ´79 es the best in the pick up ford.

Greetings since mexico..... I not speak english, only just a little sorry if not understand me. Only learn english in my basic school. =)

  • x que dices que no es 79 si es 79..

why do you think is not a 79 it is

  • sorry man hes right. Unless somebody pulled off all the molding and replaced it with a 76 and filled all the holes in with bondo its might be a 79. 79 its molding goes all down the finder and continues over the wheels its not broken up like a 76-78. But still its a nice truck

  • were's the video link??? love the truck btw

  • this truck gave me wood

  • I have three old Fords, 73-302, 79-302, 79-400 they all have condensation out the exhaust first thing in the mornings. Over the years I've noticed that it seems like tighter(healthier) engines have more condensation out the exhaust than maybe a engine that has over 100,000 miles on it.

  • old motor now see my 557 videos for the new motor. on the condensation who know's, My neighbors new toyata has condensation coming out the exhaust some morning's. This Motor never used any coolant and pushed a 5000lb brick down portland international speedway 1/4 mile in 12.9 seconds at 105mph in 4x4.

  • VERY COOL TRUCK

  • I live in Washington too....my truck don't spit condensation on start up no matter if she sat all winter....sure there ain't a problem?? Nice truck anyway....

  • nice paint. i got a 79 shortbed painted electric blue. nice

  • i love the 79 ford and the truck is awsome but when did ford build a big block? I thought that was a chev term? i thought they called them 385 series blocks?

  • For these year trucks, they didn't have the terms big block or small blocks for any of their motors. But the 335 series were commonly accepted as small blocks, and the 385 series as big blocks.

  • so you would call a 400m a small block?it has the same bolt pattern as a 460

  • First of all, let's get this straight. Small block/big block is a chevy term. And yes, a 400 is commonly accepted as a small block even though it has a big block bolt pattern.

  • it is a small block, the 351m, 400, 460 used the same tranny

  • The difference between a "small block" and a "big block" is the width of the journals separating the cylinders. This allows for larger mains and greater tolerance to torque. A 400/351m measures the same as a 351w/c where the distance between cylinders is concerned. The 427/460 has a much thicker journal width than the smaller engines. The bolt pattern for the tranny has nothing to do with this designation.

  • very true, i was just stating that they all use the same tranny..good info tho thanks

  • all the motors, even the sixes used the same trannys, the difference is the bolt pattern of the bellhousing.

  • how much you put into that motor?

  • Pretty nice.

  • ohh i see could shit im from new brunswick canada so the only time we see smoke like that is in the winter or when a head gaskets gone by the way bitchin truck

  • whats with the bunch of white smoke a head gasket gone or something

  • Head gaskets were fine. I'm in the wet state of Washington. Lot's of condensation in the exhaust system. This was started cold after sitting for a week.

  • Podrias other one does video of the pic up that lasts mas

  • Wow that's a nice lookin truck. What size tires and lift did you put on it?

  • thanks.

35" 12.50 mtr goodyears. front has 4" coils and just enough lift in the back to give it a small rake. First drive last weekend with the new 557 (see video link) and it's stupid fast.

  • i love the black i got a red short bed my self but seeing one black makes me wanna paint it lol

  • i will havet to have a adjustable valvetrain. i will havet to change the rockers and put in guideplates. Tge problem im runnung into is i dont know wht sixe and length pushrods im going to havet to have. Im thinking about using rollor rockers. By the way this is my first build.

  • i have a comp cam 275deh the valve lift says int .515 exh .541 i know i will havet to change the springs but wht im wanting to know is when i insall the cam will i havet to have a adjustable valve train. I called a number of places but they dont seem to know some say i will havet to have a adjustable valve train some say i wont the valve train is positive stop. im just wanting to know will i havet to have head work done to make the valve train adjustable.

  • i was wondering the same thing when i installed the top end on my 460 and i heard the same thing you did, and the haynes manual actully says turn the screw or nut( can't remember) until it stops. ( no adjustment)
