This song is so perfect for the Breaking Dawn 2 soundtrack that it's almost creepy. It is the perfect Bella theme song as she is experimenting and trying to push herself and her shield to protect her family and become the strongest of them all. It has a great sense of urgency, intensity, attitude, etc. There are numerous layers of meaning as it relates to Bella's Twilight journey and every time I hear it I see vamp Bella in my head preparing to save the day.
@ThaMattAttack depends on which band member wrote it (on this album all the band members contributed). If it was amy, it seems to be about having nightmares, and being reminded of the abusive relationship fallen/origin were based off of. Which I think would contradict her since she vowed to never write another song about that. ("the last song I'm wasteing on you"). Having this theme, in my opinion makes this track the only one Identical to their fallen era songs. Could pass as a fallen track :P
Yeah this cd is about break ups, so what? I'm glad it is. It helped me so much. As soon as this album came out, I was going through a very tough break up, it's like Evanescence knows what I need to hear. Been my favorite band for 9 years now. LOVE EVANESCENCE!!!!

@Crenepo she rarely sang about heartbreak and failed relationships in the first place. Mainly her depression/general creative muses. But i partly agree with you, this album is pretty flat/souless. catchy, but no where near as good/deep as fallen/the open door/pre fallen. She just is not depressed anymore, so when she tries to express false feelings by throwing in dark/sad words (pain!), it's just fake. I would rather her just make happy music,as long as it's real, then fake sad music that isn't.
@sTapleEVA I disagree; I don't think that this album is at all soulless or lifeless. I agree that Amy isn't depressed anymore, but I don't think that she's faking anything. This album, at least the way I interpret it, is mostly about liberation and freedom. Like talking about coming out of a dark place and moving on from it. But this is just my opinion. This album is exactly where I am right now, and I can understand the feelings in the song and I'm sure others can as well. Just my take on it.

There's just one thing. I've loved Evanescence for its relatively undiluted, incredible lack of perceptive audio enhancing. I LOVE this song and Evanescence, and I LOVE the way it's going, but I just kind of miss the lack of artificial-sounding voice. I've always loved the fact that Amy's voice is brilliant without enhancement, and I love the change, but it kind of makes me feel bad for the old times, remember?

i love adele. she has a classical jazzy tone to her which keeps me intrigue. She keeps it simple but deep. Amy Lee is classical as well but more gothic and rock, which I'm always am. Her voice speaks to your soul and Amy keeps me more in touch with my feelings that always enslaved me. She releases me!!!

Of course Rolling in the Deep is overplayed. What song on the radio isn't? But you can't base an artist's greatness off of just one song. You need to look at other songs by the same artist.
