  • Is there a way to do this with Windows 7?

  • be careful using route -f,it just fucked my whole network and am now rebuilding manually

  • thx

  • i try to pinging and he say: ''Request timed out'' what can i do?

  • I just installed wippien for XP, and it does not automatically fill in the IP address information under network places. Plus, you never did explain why or the purpose behind setting the static ip, as well as setting the metric to1500. It's nice to know why we are doing what we are doing. Thanks for what is otherwise a good tutorial. - Versatile

  • I just want to use this to surf the web, is this possible?

  • so and with that am able to play in lan over the internet?

  • @scorch0902 Yes and it's great. Much more fun playing with frends instead of laggers/tappers/hackers/cryers and god knows what other crap these stupid kids do these days in normal online games

  • Also check or website for some screens and ingame recordings. It is mostly dutch at the moment but it is easey to find the videos and screens.

    fun-lan.tk

  • Wippien works great for us on xp,vista and W7. We play al sorts of games for FUN. Just add me on skype: omniowning if you want to game with us.

  • did that.. still blinking... this is the stupidest program i've ever seen.. :S

  • Wippen ....Vippen.....who cares . more useless banter in a " how to" video. Or should I say WIDEO

  • @P0V3RTY09 its funny ok? i like it.

  • @P0V3RTY09 and its Wippien. see u dont appreciate these names at all. like GNU, and all that ALPINE PICO yeah ok that was a rant.

  • No, it not work for Windows 7

  • is this work for windows 7?

  • stop saying the obvious... I tho this video would help me out...

  • Wippien is the best program i´v ever seen, i can play all games with it with my friends.

  • does this work for when you get banned on a server like San Andreas Multiplayer or anyother shit

  • Which is better, Wippien or Comodo EasyVPN?

  • i got mines working fine

btw , how do you change your display name?

  • Thanks for the guide! It really helped me :)

  • hello, im running vista, and i would like to where do i go during the first cmd prompt. it says I have to elevate

  • @acehigh31 Right click, run as administrator

  • @itsm3rick Interesting video but would you or anyone else happen to know if you'd need all the extra configuration if you only want to run wippien on a local area network? I also downloaded jabberd to put on my computer so would wippien connect to that? Me and my nephew want to test our cantenna and I wanted to put as much load using web cam, mic and everything I can put on it to see what it will do from the farthest distance.

  • i got the same thing on my other pc, help? Anyone?

  • the wippen is nice man wow

  • hi i instal wippien vpn and he dont startup "when i klick on it dont show up"

  • Thank you for the video! I've never done anything like this before, but I followed your instructions perfectly!

    Now... TitanQuest!

  • I'm trying to connect but my friend sees me as blue and I see him as blue as well.

I've followed everything here and the only difference is that you can see the wippien IPs without the actual application being run, I have to run wippien and then use the "route print" to see mine. Another note is that it says "network cable is unplugged" when wippien is not running.

Much help thanks for the helpful tutorial!

  • Hmmm... I get the impression you may be over-caffeinated...

Anyway, the video is actually called "Set Up Wippien VPN"; not "How to Use VPN".

But since you asked so "politely..."

Once you've got the VPN client running and your friends also have the same VPN client running, it makes it appear to both PCs like you're connected on a local area network (LAN) instead of the Internet.

That means you can do the same things as if your PCs were connected on a LAN.

  • For example, you could both run a LAN capable game, with one hosting and the other should be able to see and join the LAN game (which is actually connected via the VPN).

So you run the VPN client; your friends also run the same VPN client and once you've connected you do NOTHING ELSE with the VPN. It just runs in the background.

In Wippien the other users you're connected to show up in the "General" area with black IPs.

  • BUT YOU NEED TO INVITE/ACCEPT CONNECTIONS FROM YOUR FRIENDS IN ORDER FOR THE VPN TO DO ANYTHING!

There is no way to "browse" for other users; you have to know the Wippien ID/Jabber ID of the person you want to connect to with the VPN client and send a connection request via "Add Contact".

If you don't accept or invite or otherwise add contacts you won't be connected to anyone and the VPN will be useless!

The video shows how to send an invite at 5:50.

  • great tutorial, thanks.

  • FYI @all: Learn from my id107 mistake:

Don't try to use the same Jabber/Gmail/etc ID on multiple Wippien Clients simultaneously. Each client w/ the same ID will see each other on the messenger, but you'll likely have problems establishing an actual vpn connection.

Still, IMHO, this seems to work much better than Hamachi.

  • Nice explanation about how to properly configure Wippien.

(Out of curiosity, why does Wippien default to an IP without a gateway address, and why such a funky MTU size?)

  • thank you very much for the tutorial but i ve to bother you with a question about i problem i couldnt find the answer (not even in the wippien forum)

the thing is that i disconnect from the internet every time i start the programme (wipien of course). i connect with a wi fi router.

i would very much appreciate your answer.

    thank you again

  • can you show me please how to configure wippien to play counter strike....i'm getting a class c error and i don't know what to do(well i know but i don't know how to apply it to wippien, just hamachi)

  • im stuck at 1:33...what the fuck program want from me?

  • I'm assuming you're stuck at the jabber login screen.

You first need to pick one of the free jabber servers. I'm using jabber(dot)org. There is a list of public/free servers at jabber(dot)org.

You create a jabber nickname and then add an at sign and the jabber server name. It will look like an email address ([nickname](@)jabber(dot)org).

Then type in a password. It doesn't say there is a restriction, but it only allows numbers and letters in the password.

  • How can i use ICQ with Wippien? I can´t see ICQ server on Wippien.

  • When i ping it just says "request timed out". Any help?

  • Thanks for the tut, very useful. I didnt notice the "vippien" thing ^^

  • Can i use this program to host game server? How?

  • This program creates a virtual private network (VPN) that will enable others on the same VPN to play local area network (LAN) games over the Internet.

A VPN makes your PC think the computers that are connected to it via the Internet are connected via a LAN.

So you could host a LAN game as a server and others connected to the VPN via Wippien could connect to it.

  • I see, alright. Well Does this also like HIDE your IP kinda? I wanna use it for the purpose and like just run behind the Virtual Private Network...? Do you no what I mean?

  • As far as I know it doesn't publicize your IP but I can't guarantee that.

  • Is this better than Hamachi free version? And do you no how to install in Vista? and what where you doing in all the cmd and etc...? Why can't you just install and finish?

  • It's better than Hamachi primarily because a couple in our gaming group couldn't get Hamachi to work properly with several games; Wippien works with those games when set up properly.

Also, Wippien is open source so we don't have to worry about them deciding they want to charge for it (unlike Hamachi).

The "cmd" prompt work rebuilds the network routing tables; Wippien wouldn't work for us without doing that.

  • (It would be nice if Wippien would rebuild the routing tables during installation, but it doesn't.)
