@goncalez100 Depends on your registrar. Many have a setting to allow you to forward the non-w w w domain to the w w w one. You have to find that setting.
I understand that only mobileme allows some iWeb features to work. Such as the 'Hit Counter', 'Leaving comments for blogs', 'Blog search'. So, by forwarding the domain name to me.com, does that mean I can finally use iWeb features? Thanks!
@princejack Not sure what you mean. Yes, you can use all MobileMe/iWeb features if you have a MobileMe account. But all of those features are also available on most other Web server solutions as well.
@LEGnewTube With iWeb? iWeb publishes to your MobileMe account. There is nothing you need to do if you have already pointed your domain to MobileMe's DNS servers. Just use iWeb to publish to MobileMe.
Thanks for replying! Is it bad for business because it is slow to load or has down times? I want to change because my business is dynamic and creative and iweb is my first attempt at making my own site for the business. I feel so good about iweb I am considering changing to mobileme. Why is mobileme not ideal for a biz website? If we were down even half a day would be horrible for us.
@magicprincessparties MobileMe isn't good for a business site because you mainly interact with it using iWeb, which is a nice little tool for creating personal site, but not much else. You don't have FTP access, or control of typical server settings, or even scripting like PHP.
Thank you for making this! I already run a business on my domain name and I want to change to iweb/mobile me. I am nervous about making the change. Will domain change over from current hosting to mobile me hosting just fine and just erase my old website and show my iweb site?
Hello, how about just the opposite removing your own domain from iWeb?
tkeffer1 5 days ago
@tkeffer1 Just point the domain somewhere else -- to another service or server.

@macmostvideo my registrar is Godaddy where is this setting? please help
goncalez100 8 months ago
@goncalez100 I can't link to it (no links in YouTube comments). But if you search Google for "godaddy redirect w w w" you'll find the solution.

It only works with "w w w" Whats Wrong?
DavisHoffman 11 months ago
@DavisHoffman Right. It does. But you can set up things with your DNS provider to map the non-w w w domain with www

HI Mate, Can I move a wordpress blog from my hosting and move it to mobileme without having to dick around Apples iweb software?
Cheers

@daveg2k4 You can't run PHP scripts like WordPress on MobileMe, so you can't do that at all.

@macmostvideo Okay thanks for preventing me from wasting a load of time :)

Do need To get domain hosting for the website or not or will MobileMe be my web host
Fabianarcos95 1 year ago
@Fabianarcos95 That's the idea behind the personal domain setting in MobileMe -- to point a domain to the site hosted at MobileMe.

@mahadeehassan You should make an appointment at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store. I'm sure they'll be happy to help.

@magicprincessparties Yes. But why change? I would not build a business web site with MobileMe. It is better for personal sites.

Can you create more than one domain?
loripickering1 2 years ago
No. Not with MobileMe. I guess if you need more than one domain, you are probably in need of real hosting services anyway.
