  • loads of reverb on the snare! :D

  • @rjproud rj,

instead of posting comments stating out random stupid facts that are obvious to the general public, why not state some thing of value and criticism to help.

by the way, this video is over 2 years old, my studio qualities have improved.

  • @justinjonesypoo woah chill out mate, i don't care if ur studio qualities have improved!

  • @justinjonesypoo wow.. sorry if I don't want to criticise you.....

  • you're not a drummer??? I dont believe you hahaha youre cool

  • @AlecBFlores haha, i can lay down a somewhat steady beat, but if you ask me to do fills or anything else complex forget it haha

  • nice snare sound!

  • thnx for uploading! Was looking for a miced swingstar, cause i wanna buy mics to so now i can hear how it sounds ;D

  • gr8 playing those mics sound gr8 :) keep it up

  • I'd increase the volume of the bass drum a little.

But that's just my opinion, other than that: great stuff man!

  • that is a MONSTER tom!!!

what are the dimensions? its sexy

  • well done!!!!!!! x

  • sounds good boyeeeee

  • That snare sound is lovely.

  • hey man thanks. if you want to hear better quality, go in my video channel and click the tj haslett - drum solo video. the quality is phenominal in it.

  • Great mic'ing job!

  • Well this is why you need some assistance. Get a drummer, tell him/her to hit the rim shot hard and bring the pre up slow till you get a good signal and no clipping.. You can then boost the audio in Logic..

For your kick drum, get a EVAN EMAD2 and a EMAD reso head. also get a 24x24 acoustic foam, cut to fit inside the kick drum. The foam will remove plenty high freq ringing.. Tune the head loose but not too much. Then do the EQ..

  • Also the overheads need to point down! The one on the right of the video needs to be pointing to the cymbal..

Thats a CLASSIC Swingstar.. nice sound.

Work a bit more on the kick placing the mic at the port hole, half way in, lay it down inside (with a pillow), change the angle, etc... you will get many diff. tones..

    Enjoy your new mics...

  • thanks a lot for the advice man. i have messed with the pres on the presonus. none of them go red except for the snare mic when i do a rim shot. i cant prevent it and it will always go red. i have the snare mic 45 degrees facing towards the middle of the snare head. its a true pain in the ass. ive been trying to get the kick t sound more clicky as opposed to like shit. idk what to do.

  • you could try mounting the snare mic a little higher off the drum at the same angle. and for your kick: what kind of beaters are you using and have you tried a danmar pad?

  • HEy! have fun! thats what counts..

I heard some clipping here and there..

Its very Hard to set the levels by your self! Have your brother hit the drums hard and bring the pres on the presonus one by one as he hits each drum and set the level with headroom to prevent clipping.. you can use the red led clip indicator.. Make sure it does not go red.. Its bad in digital recording to clip..

The kick sounds like its doing some drr drrr. Are you playing heel up or down?
