corrections to calwraite!! the lead -singer wasn't Blue Lovett! although he was with the group, he was bass singer on the group! The lead vocals of the group before he passed away in the early 70s is the late great George" Smitty" Smith BIGBADLAMONT
Oh my God!!! I did not know that this was the Manhattans!! I was looking for this tune for like....forever!! I must get this in my collection..great post...thanks!!!
XS, you got their earliest stuff?? "I Wanna Be," "Follow Your Heart," all that? I'll burn it all for you and send to you...I got stuff back in the 60's, early 60's, by them.
@calwaite HAD THE PLEASURE KNOWING THEM DURRING THETHE ALSTON ERA RE ISSUE ON CARNIVAL AND DELUXE GREAT. THE GREATESE WAS THE TEMPTS BUT GERALD FRONTED BETTER THAN THEM ALL LEVERT TEDDY LEVI THE SCOTT BOYS THE LIST GOES ON AND ON
No doubt about it -- Gerald was as good as a lead singer can be. He had a little bit different sound than David Ruffin, Levi (who was sensational live), Teddy, and the other greats, in that he wasn't a gospel shouter type at all, but smooth and pure as honey. He still sounds exactly like he always did. Ever hear Blue Lovett lead an entire song? Spectacular voice, just off the hook. Early (60's and early 70's) Whispers another of my favorites, and Johnnie Taylor, the best solo soul singer ever!
Dem boyz could sang...I had forgot all about this one...whewwww!....thanks for posting this...

I've been looking all over for this; and just happened to stumble onto it.
I always thought the name of it was "To bring me back, baby.'
Thanks so much for posting this.
I can die happy now.
this was the one song that I really wanted to hear but never could find.
I didn't know this was the Manhattans; and I'm a Manhattans Fan.
