i liked this movie even though im scared shitless of lions (ghost and the darkness) because when he met timon and pumba i kept thinking *to self* oh shit their gonna get torn limb from limb
@MrGrave111 Not to offend you, but are you serious? You love the Lion King because your last name almost sounds like the word "lion?" That's a STUPID reason to be impartial to a movie.
My favourite animated disney movie would have to be the lion king or tarzan. Each is a great coming of age story with iconic music and relatable cool characters
The Lion King is one of my favorite movies ever. And I'm not talking about just animated movies - it is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Even after all this time, there has hardly been any other movie that I loved just as much.
I hope I don't get too much hate for this, but there is no way I'll pay extra money to see a movie in 3d in theatres that I watched when I was kids. DVD, yes, but almost 20 dollars for me and someoneelse in theatres, no.
@evoldriver Do you know what character development is? Simba is suppose to represent a little kid. Don't expect every main character to be those cliche prince charming.
@ChameleonCarnotaurus The "kid" Simba is supposed to represent is self-absorbed, selfish, disrespectful and dishonest. Even as a kid, I would not have been able to relate to this character. Also, young Simba is completley different from Simba as an adult, meaning that the two characters have absolutley nothing in common, so there is also no real development of the character (he goes from a kid to an adult with no real transition).
@evoldriver No shit because not ALL kids are like him. So you must hate Beauty and the Beast, and the Emperors New Groove because the main characters are spoiled.
When a lot of kids are young they are selfish, disrespectful, dishonest, and self-absorbed. You expect every main character to be that cliche Prince Charming do you? Simba is different as an adult because of his fathers death. His fathers death makes him think that his actions, and being self centered is all his fault.
Having just bought this on DVD, I am more than willing to say that this film still makes me break into tears just like when I was a kid. Best. Film. Ever.
I'll always remember the Lion King as THE first movie I ever saw in a cinema at the age of 3. I even remember wondering why it was so dark and why all the seats were lined with strangers in them XD
I'd have to say Scar tops all Disney villains - willing to kill his very own family to get what he wants, letting the whole pride lands starve under his rule without a care in the world... he's a real sociopath of a lion. Somehow I doubt Disney movies today would dare have a villain like that anymore.
The Lion King is still and will be my favourite movie forever-just asking, but on ur top 2011 best movies, if it was top 15, would Lion King would of been on it?
REVIEW: the exorcist, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN trailer, annaliese the exorcist tapes, red ridinghood, alice in wonder land, the amazing spiderman trailer, THE RUNAWAYS, welcome to the rileys, bruno, the avengers trailer, THE HUNGER GAMES trailer, the house bunny, scarface, drag me to hell, mr.woodcock, american pie 4:american reunion trailer, the devil inside trailer, the craft, the blair witch project, rec, disturbia, jennifer's body,
THUMBS UP IF YOU WANT HIM TO REVIEW 1 OF THESE MOVIES
Those are faves too of mine! ever seen Spirited Away, Ninja Scroll, Gandahar, Fist of the North Star, Fantastic Planet, Wicked City, Vampire Hunter D 1 & 2, Golgo 13 The Professional etc.? awesome animated films too.
I saw that in theaters 2 times when i was 4 in it's original release and has been one of my guilty pleasures and was the possible influence to Legend of Zelda
Tezuka is awesome don't you think? ever seen Metropolis, Astroboy or Bagi The Mighty Monster of Nature? and american animation can be inspired by anime
i remember when i was a little kid i use to leateraly watch the lion king all day replay after replay and forced my parents to watch it with me haha good times
The Lion King is not only my favourite disney movie, it is my favourite movie, PERIOD! I love this movie! When I was little, I used to drive my parents nuts with this film and watch it over and over again. I used to build my own Pride Rock out of Lego and have my Lion King figurines live on it :). I went to see the 3D version with my dad (lol) and I felt just like my 4 year old self watching it for the first time, ever. I'm now 21 :D.
I wonder if you do reviews about classic movies? And with that I meant the Disney movies that's been released a while ago! I'm very curious about what your thoughts were about The Incredibles xP
Lion King. Hands down. I'm 23 and I still have the stuffed Simba toy my grandmother bought me (=>.>=). I still get excited when I watch the movie, no matter how many times I watched it. It's totally awesome.
I LOVE The Lion King!!!! The intro song makes me have goosebumps every time!!!! I LOVE Circle of Life, King of Pride Rock/Circle of Life, Hakuna Matata, and so many more! Thank you for doing this!
Lion King 2 (call me crazy but i do like it better then the Lion King because i've just seen the Lion King sooooooooooo many times that i just like it better)
Hey Jeremy, did u hear they are bringing back the uncharted movie? Neil Burger is the new director. The actor for Nate has not been announced yet. What are your thoughts on it? Do a video response for it! :D
The littlemermaid is my #1 hands down when it comes to Disney animation. The story was entertaining even to this day at the age of 25, the music was classic, and the characters were likeable. Of course who doesn't love a glamorous leading lady every girl wants to be. The hot, please come to life, set all women up for failure, perfect prince. And what we actually haven't had in a very long time, a fabulous villainess that upstages the main charecter. I love Ursula. All around disney at it's best
i havnt seen the 3D but however, i recently watched lion king and i didnt expect anything, i tought that This is just going to be an childhood movie thats just good in my memories.
However i loved it and i have to say, this is my top1 of all disney movies.
And actually its in my top 10 list of ALL movies i seen might be number 1 might be number 2 or three havnt decided.
As for the Kimba debate, Osamu Tezuka, who made both Kimba AND Astro Boy (the dude put out like a stud when it came to anime and manga) watched Bambi 47 times during his lifetime (anything that dude would watch 47 times HAS to be not-terrible), in an era where that film wasn't released in Japan until later because of World War II. He was influenced by Disney, and once Disney died, Disney started taking ideas from Tezuka's Kimba to an extent. Could it be... THE CIRCLE OF LIFE?
Favorite animated Disney movie? That's way too hard. The first four from the Disney Renaissance (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King) will always be special to me. In recent years I probably have watched Beauty and the Beast and Mulan the most.
Oh you are terrible, you are really terrible. You don't know the first thing about movies you're just rambling randomly. The world needs critics, people who can string ideas together, not just some doucheyguy who wants the world to find his flailing reactions sort of funny.
@RavenStillBeguiling it was both. because even if mufasa died and simba didn't, simba would become king. that's why when he didn't die scar told him to run away. so that he would become king and fuck everything up.
I don't really get what the big deal is with 3-D. I feel like a doofus sitting in the dark with sunglasses on to watch a movie. It's not THAT cool of an effect to be bothered with.
From now on, no more 3-D for me. It's more of a nuisance than a fun visual. Anyone else feel this way or am I the only one?
However, the books with the 3-D images ARE cool. They look like a book full of weird wallpaper patterns but you have to train and adjust your eyes to actually see the image. THAT is cool.
My absolute favorite Disney movie would have to be Brother Bear. But Lion King is my favorite Disney SERIES, no contest. All 3 movies were pretty good, in my opinion.
Still waiting on the 4th one, though... Hey, it could happen.
As an afterthought my fav disney movie would have to be either beauty and the beast or the hunchback of notre dame though if i watch it now i would say it really pushes the line between g and pg
You know I actually watched the lion king after watching this review and you were right it is awesome. And i have to say it has one of the best direct-to-video sequels ever
I think if they would've put Tarzan in 3D (Its in the vault and it has more action) because it used more 3D elements and had better oppertunities for rendering than most of The Lion King 3D's background gimmicks which were more common
The nineties middle part. Dammit. I once rocked that look. But not as hard as Simba.

I love all the characters, but I also find Rafiki awesome, and he wasn't mentioned. He's the perfect "shaman" and guide of the kingdom, very wise.

The lion king is plagiarism. Kimba is the real lion king.
