I say this because I'm looking at other Fighter sims to play and nothing comes close in terms of aircraft, ground units, physics and map edit.

Lock On: Modern Air Combat is easily the best Fighter Jet simulator to date. It sucks that it wasn't / isn't as well known as the FSX series. Because if the Lock On team had more funds and incentive ( popularity ) they could have made another Jet Fighter sim with more aircraft and upgraded graphics engine that would blow any of today's flight sims out of the water. I want a new lock on damn it !

which comes first? Falcon 4.0 or Janes F/A-18? because i'm wondering after 10 years of these two sims, they still have dedicated groups(THS,FreeFalcon,etc.), can those DCS series sims live up to these sims too???

@redz27m The next DCS project is said to be F/A-18C, should be interesting. Before you ask "Why the C model" I'd say there is to much unknown about the F/A-18 E/F/G to make the platform accurate enough for a DCS quality Sim. I am excited about DCS making F/A-18C but it's got to have the works, Carrier Ops and all.

@kmcnelley1981 Out of curiosity, do you have any references about the next DCS being the F/A-18? :) I know I read somewhere that they mentioned it was going to be a "popuar" fixed-wing U.S. fighter. I assume that means the F-15, F-16, or F/A-18.

@kmcnelley1981 Good job, sneaky sneaky ;-) If this is true, this is great news :) I love the Hornet. It was the first plane I flew in a military flight sim (back during Graphsim days).

@kmcnelley1981 I'd say it's because the legacy hornets are better overall aircraft, honestly. I mean, cheaper, more maneuverable, faster accelerating/decelerating, smaller, easier to land on the boat. The Super Hornet seems kinda sluggish to me. Plus, VRS has already made a legitimate simulation of the Super Hornet.

@beroth1 VRS have made a legitimate addon for FSX but is not a stand alone Combat Flight Sim as DCS BS / A-10C, Jane's F/A-18, F4AF... etc. VRS are limited to what FSX can provide. TacPack and FSX@War will certainly add a new level to FSX but it's still not at the same standard as old and current Combat Flight Sims. Excellent : ) I'll give this sim another try. In the total absence of sims nowadays (FSXdoesn't have the combat component), this seems like a godsend - with the mods, of course : )

I never played this, I had Jane's combat flight sim. I remember seeing this on the back cover and thinking it looked awsome. I wish they would make a new Jane's flight sim, they were so awsome :)

@HomersIlliad Yes many many many times. It is required in the VFA-41 to be able to juice up with the tanker manually. Just practice..... :D

@allenlee767 Yea, seems you were right. I tried and the frame rates were dead slow for some reason..even in a very powerfeul system as mine :( Not worth playin :( :(

@sidhaarthm Need to head to SimHQ and read up that issue. It is a known problem that focuses on ATI Gx cards. There is a work around, keep the faith with the game :D

anyway i was thinking recently about how awesomely realistic janes is. do you know of any simulator that is just as realistic, but with better graphics perhaps?

Yeah it's a shame that EA killed Jane's...I loved playing WWII fighters...Does somebody still plays it?Are there any multyplayer servers?

Bad landing on the TSH preview.. Pretty sure you'd have been waived off, almost went into the drink.

I remember playing this game when it came out in Middle school. Time to fire up that disk and load TSH! Glad I found this, and glad another sim is getting some GREAT shelf life. The only other that I still play with a squadron is Red Baron 3D. Check out our squad website!

Awesome video, and yeah I managed to download this game (via torrent) and installed the TSH add-on to it. The game is awesome!

My ONLY problem with the game is targeting ground objects. At leased in F-15, you hit a button that cycles through the ground targets. In F/A-18, I don't like the way they did it.  Anyone agree, or does anyone have some advice?

are you talking about creating a firezone and designating targets to be selected for walleye/agm-65?

@Knife138 i agree. there are times when picking out a specific ground target can be difficult. A cycle Ground Target function would make that easier.

I have tried the DX tweaker but it seems to have its own problems, like the aircraft shaking around and weapons doing the same once they're released from the plane.

Have you tried in SimHQ or Frugal's ? In one of those forums, or maybe in both, there is a loooong thread about all kind of graphical problems. And almost all of them resolved.

due to the problems in running with newer PCs and being unable to find the definite solutions for it.

@s2pidpaul I've never had an issue running this game on my Vista PC. with the TSH mods it runs better then it ever did back in the day. Definitely worth lookin into if you still want to use the game. They can assist with Troubleshooting in the forums there too.
