  • Head East was first to cover it in 78.

  • wow..i always thought this was a rainbow song..just shows you wat u can find out on you-tube. ty for posting

  • WOW!!! This is as good as the Rainbow version..........slightly more of a raw feel.......I love it!!!!! These girls were bloody good!!!!

  • I like this version. Good cover.

  • beautiful eurodisco rock version

  • this cover was out long before rainbow's still like this one better

  • very bad audio quality

  • You gotta be kidding me, They're butchering a Argent Classic!.

  • i like this band but can't get my head around this version. I think the Rainbow Version is to well etched on to my brain

  • Then Santana had a hit with Winning itself! That Russ Ballard is a talented guy.

  • Don't forget about Head East's version also in 1978. (I think it is the best version personally)

    Rainbow's version 1979

  • Guitar solo at the end? Ritchie Blackmore, eat your heart out!

  • very beautiful version !

  • Rainbow's version was released after Clout's.

  • omg this aint like the original version, Rainbow is WAY better

  • Why this is never played on the radio and that other version always is remains a mystery.

  • i like it

  • Thank you for down loading this one - they do a good job of it... love Clout in general...

  • a terrific version of russ ballard's rock classic

  • Ballard also wrote the song "On the rebound" performed by Uriah Heep on the record Abominog.

  • Apparently this is the version that Ritchie heard first!

  • List of cover versions of this song:

First- Head East, then Rainbow, and then Clout. In each rendition of the Russ Ballard classic- its all great. Simply because Russ is an excellent songwriter.

  • Cherie and Marie Currie really rocked it too.

  • Where are they now? they could stop World strife!

  • I am shoccked, I alway thought the was originaly by Rainbow. great version

  • The original is by Russ Ballard who wrote it. It's posted here on YouTube. Russ was a major songwriter in the late70's and early 80's. Among others he wrote:

    I Surrender - Rainbow

    Winning - Santana

New York Groove - Hello / Ace Frehley

I Know There's Something Going On - Frida (ABBA)

    Liar - Three Dog Night

God Gave R'n'R to You - Argent / Kiss

Riding with the Angels - Samson

Talented man. His self-titled 1984 solo album is brilliant.

  • Yes I know he wrote these songs, got most of them but did he actually record them as well, if you know of them of YT will you send them me, as it is easier than looking for them if you already have them in you fave, dont bothe with the Hello & Frida vids, if you can thanks.

  • He recorded 'Since You Been Gone', 'Winning', and 'Riding with the Angels' solo and 'God Gave R'R...' with Argent. The search feature on YT is your friend.

  • "Since You Been Gone" is a 1970s rock song written and recorded by former Argent guitarist Russ Ballard for his 1976 album "Winning" :)

  • Thank you. Have always wanted to hear this version. :)

  • jolie =)

  • Also covered by Cherie and Marie Currie, after she (Cherie) broke from The Runaways.....

  • bring s back memories for sure .

  • Love this version!

  • I recall hearing this sometime around the early summer of 1978.

I much prefer it to the Rainbow version.

  • substitute was written by somebody called wilson. the lead singer of clout sounds very much like ann wilson from heart

  • Their first hit, "Substitute", was a cover version of a Righteous Brothers song, composed by Willie Wilson :)

  • Ita ages since I heard this version. I think they did a good job too.

  • It must be thirty years til now since I've heard this version. Once Rainbow's version hit the airwaves, no other version before it would seem to get an airing.

  • they'r good, tho this tune dont fit that band, no offense at all!

  • smiles :)

  • brill track........
