Dead Space to me looks like a cross between the Alien series and the video game called Run Like Hell. The whole religion angle is basically when Scientology became more dominate than the Abrahamic religions on Earth; Unitologists seem to revere the divine and aliens at the same time. Hence their talking about some Marker: this thing is like some alien beacon to a source or something, and this Isaac might have this beacon of sorts inside his brain. That is my guess; I am not aware of this series

In less than 5 minutes Issac is betrayed, shot at by some ship, narrowly escapes only to face a strong Necromorph, run the HELL away from it only to be shot at again and be launched into space while the monster STILL chases you and you simultaniously blow up both it and the ship with the bombs the ship was carrying launching you convenientally through a window and into safety!!!
