  • The Jheri Curl is poppin' shit.

Ready For The World is poppin' shit.

  • Since Obama , some people still ask where ur African-Americans going. I stop n Look , we our REDy thAIR a long time ago. n 80s Digital Display. smile laughn.

  • Wow, I used to rock this jam all the time back then, I never saw the video. Whoever made that video must have been on acid. Pretty entertaining though.

  • I wanna lip sync contest to this song! awesome!!

  • this was the shit back then

  • This song was the jam back in 85. I remember me, my brother, and my sister all used to listen to it while getting ready for school every morning.

  • @SaintsFan1ify Yeah, this song was da shit back when it came out in 85'. I remember when i 1st heard it. I was working at a fast food resturant when it came on the radio. I instantly said. "Who's dat?" Then later that week, I saw them on The Dick Clark show and I remember saying 2 myself, "Shit, if they can go platinum, then i wanna sell a million records too." LOL I wonder why they never hardly toured? I wonder if they still tour?

  • I guess I'll play along too... "Ready for the World is poppin shit"... Kadeem Hardison in School Daze.. lol

  • yo the pimpin in the mother fuckin 80's wish i could've jammed to there shit at the time fuck music now sux

  • this was the jam in 85. listened to it while trainin' for bodybuildin' shows. no steroids so I lost, no big deal. I had to wear eye protection on the dance floor to protect myself from the curl activator. gettin' it in the eyes HURT worse than the workouts or gettin' stiletto heels in the Reeboks.

  • why he wouldnt look directly at the camera?!?!

  • This song could have been better with a German accent and a vocoder... if you know what I mean... dentaku !

  • how many pillow cases were ruined in the 80's

  • @blackitalian36 All the jheri-curl jokes that RFTW attract on their Youtube songs is fucking hilarious !!! The cool thing is they're pretty much all not 'nasty' comments

  • song go hard

  • R.F.T.W were the shit back in the day...this isn't an example of their best work, but this video is hilarious.

  • @CASPIAN91106 as far as Jheri Curls is concerned it was Full Force. But I love both groups til this day. But Full Force did the Jheri Curls better. At least i think so.

  • @musiqtube1 - I'm guessing you were comparing the groups...but I think Ice Cube has the best Jheri Curl during the Jheri Curl era (lawd have mercy), lol, he had beautiful, whoopsy curls and it wasn't too wet & drippy!

  • @KaramelSundae27 now that you mentioned it, yeah. i remember it was like that in Boyz In the Hood. and didn't Dr. Dre and Eazy-E have 1 too?

  • @musiqtube1 Not Dre, but Eazy-E did, his was alright, a lil stringy to me. I think it all depends on the type of hair you had w/o the chemicals. Come to think of it, my mom's had the best Jheri Curl, she didn't even have to put activator in her's, just Pink Oil moisturizer, lol, but I am so glad I never felt a need to succumb to that trend, but most females just got one to make their hair grow and it did the job.

  • These cats must have spent a fortune on activator.

  • I drove my exboyfriend crazy i played this all the time,bt we are still cool to this day

  • i'm only 6 but the 80s were so awesome and... wait, why am i on a computer talking about music videos? i should be at school READing about history!

  • Can you allow playback on iPhone please, it's disabled for this video.... Love the track wanna hear it whilst walking about!

  • haha, I never did the jerry curl thing back in the 80s wasnt in to it, too messy

  • this was the jam man my aunt blanche was in hs so..... i was in elem. lol but i loved jams like this why can't the 80's be brought back? lots of good music

  • @sexyladybrownsuga Greed & Corruption is why. Sry. :( Artists no longer have much if any control over what they put out anymore. Sad, but true.

  • These guys were beyond their time..Love em..grew up on em.

  • RFTW hit #21 in Billboard, 2-22-86. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!

  • Man I'm 14 But I Love This Music Way Better Than The Junk Today

  • Lanita Swan...I dedicate this to you home girl!

  • Nice song, terrible video! I can't believe I was even alive in the 80s. I don't claim that era at all! LOL.

  • All security has to do is follow the drip.

  • @aldocapone LOL Coming to America, i was thinking the same thing, lol!!!

  • @aldocapone "Just let your Soul Glo, just let it shine through

Just let your SOOOOUUUUUULLLLLLLLL GLO baby,

feel it oh so silky smooth Just let it shine through

    just let your SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA GLLOO!!!"

  • I know I'm showing my age, but we did a pompette routine to this song and I've loved it since the first time I heard it!!!

  • Is this enough for jheri curl activator for ya? LMBAO!!!!!

  • I thought that I was the only person that dug this song! No one else has ever heard of it!

  • @astrogliding I am going back to my 20's and I am kind of chuckling at myself...

I really REALLY thought this was the bomb when we were dancing to it on the dancefloor!

I think he was the first to speak on computer shit,

so we all thought it was cool.

And the space sounds helped too '-'

  • Man I lived at "Chess King" in the 80's and every week I got paid I always bought some clothes at that grand store good days as a teenager when clothing and music had flair

  • LOL. Yeah, the video leaves a little to be desired, but the song has always been one of my old school jams. Gotta love the 80s music.

  • jean west

  • Chess King ! Wow what a flashback.

  • lol beeper

  • The was a Chess King in San Antonio, Tx. I bought my Crop Jacket Suit from there.

  • I love how "mature" this song is hehe :)

  • so much stuff we forgot and it was so coo and fun. damm THANK YOU

  • Hey Scott and Kidd... boy ya'll went there with the Chess King.. I had to think for a minute.. why do I know what that is? It was a store, mens clothing right? We had one in Ocala FL.

We are old... lol I saw these dudes at grad night '86 at Disney World... RFTW definitely tha jam!

  • chess king? memories

  • We used to call them ready for the curl,,,,,brings back memories

  • my mom loves this song, she always talks about how she danced 2 it......and demonstrates it 2 a little lol

  • These curls are so juicy and supple.

  • oh snap! This looked so high tech back in the day! LOL! Girly is tearing the robot up though!

  • genital display

  • I WANT THAT TABLE! Something about that table makes it look cutting edge.

  • True musicians.

  • Song: AWESOME!

    Video: TERRIBLE!

  • @Braenchild82 Thats the 80s for ya lol

  • ooooh all that soul glow!

  • Hahahahaha, "Ready For The Curl!!" LOL! Yeah, you couldn't deny that by the mid-80's it wasn't just about who had the funkiest jams. It was also about who had the wettest jeri-curl! And it looked like RFTW, Mazarati, and the Deele were major contenders!

But in all seriousness I miss this era of music, cuz it was still MUSIC! I don't know what to make of today's garbage that's being passed off as music.

  • one of my favs from this group....still rocking these old songs for my kids to hear some REAL music

  • How many shower caps did they go through?

  • Love the 80s, thanks so much.

  • Can you smell the curl juice?! lol We used to call every brotha with a long curl, Ready! hah hah Ready for the Curl!

  • tiiiight!! love this song, video too!

  • Crazy how old music videos gets everyone talking about how old or young they are and back in the day!

I enjoyed seeing this video again...u know, me being 30 years old and all.

  • I remember my white ass, studying myself in the mirror, working up my Simon LeBon do, RFTW blasting on my folks' too-big stereo, dripping Polo cologne, rocking my newly-purchased Chess King gear... and, unfuckingbelieveably, getting the girl at night's end. It's a wonderful life...

  • HAA HAA! OMG!! Absoulutely hilarious!! The 80's was simply bananas!! p.s. I loooved Simon. I'm so glad that I was only a kid and there are few pictures of me back then.

  • Hahaha! I can't believe you rolled out the Chess King. Chess King, the ultimate in mall fashion! :)

  • Chess King? What's that?

  • Chess King was a popular men's fashion store in U.S.A. shopping malls. It was known for that 80s look of Members Only type jackets with straps and buttons, shoulder pads, polo shirts. skinny ties, and straight or tapered leg pants. Good times, bad times. :)

  • Ok I see what you mean now.

  • Cool! :)

  • dagg!! now that you metion it, your right!! i remember that store from when i use to go to eastridge mall in san jose california... wow, i had forgotten all about it...

  • Damm i remember that store,,,hahah thanks for the memories

  • Hahaha! I forgot the pleated pants! Man, the 80s sucked in terms of fashion, but couldn't be beat in many other ways. Youngsters now don't have ANYTHING remotely like this.

  • And skinny ties with the piano keys on them...

  • Don't play! Do you remember Travel Fox shoes with the pocket for the beeper to go into?

  • Looks like the CGI was done as a favor. "Sure, swing me a dime bag, and I'll toss in some cool-ass-top-technology graphics!" How 80's!!!

  • this is bringing back bad memories of messed up jacket collars and high school dances. I love it!!

  • I know that cart they're riding on would'nt have to worry about being low on oil, all dem damn jheri curls! i wonder how many collars on their outfits they f#&$ed up back then?? RFTW!! ya music still No.1 in my collection.

  • This video is still impressive, even by today's standards. Reminds me a lot of "Tron".

  • This song takes me back to 1st grade.

  • I was born in '81 and I remember this song very well. Loved it then and still love it.

I'm proud to be a child of the 80s, those were the days.

  • I see this video and it makes me think of COMING TO AMERICA. "So LEt Your Soul GLOW". LOL!!

  • HILARIOUS & SO TRUE

  • im 19 but i love the 80s and Ready for the world, prince, jesse johnson, old school R&b,funk...those who lived in that time are lucky =)

  • @80sfereak1988 i was very lucky!

  • @80sfereak1988

ANd you know this KID...44yrs here and ..todays music..aint nothing compared to "back in da day"

WE DID IT ALL..and did it better...ask ya MOM and DAd

  • rtfw was the shit

  • RFTW was typical, average, ordinary, everyday high school dance fodder in 85/86 when I was in 11th grade (along with Whitney Houston, Howard Jones, Prince, Madonna, Go West, Klymaxx, &etc) Right guys? All of it terrific stuff!

  • Man this is a fun song! Can't get this on today's radio.

  • I had forgot all about this song until I came across this video, and I remembered all the words. This use to be my sh!t! Thanx 4 posting!

  • great song! i love it!

  • man this song was the bomb the seventies/eighties were a great time for music lovers .look at music / it has no creativity because these rappers/singers of today steal music from the old school musicians .and thats sad because if theses artist of today knew how much hard work was put into making these songs then just maybe they'd respect an art form that will with stand time .when will they come up with there own concepts/lagaccies to leave behind.

  • Dude looks like mace with a curl but this jam is was hot.

  • Man you know what's up you have some good videos. Back in the eighties you would see these videos maybe twice on Mtv and thats it

then they were gone. Ready For The World was my first concert I went to back in 1986. This shit means alot to me thanks for the post!

    Peace!

  • I have been mimicking this song since 1st grade! They just blew the dust off this song a few years ago.

  • mMan this song was the ssshit! It still sounds good! These dudes were rollin! Good post.

  • man I've been looking for this on here forever. I finally tried Digital Display(wasn't sure that was the name) since it wasn't under Ready For The World. never occured to me to try the initials.

tx though, great find. I think these guys were from MI

  • They are/were. Flint, MI

  • Great tune with a kick-ass bass line and synthesizer work...how I miss good funk with geri-curls...completely devoid of all things gangsta...Thanx for posting!

  • Loved listening 2 R.F.T.W. Never got a chance 2 see them in concert though. If you love funk & geri-curls you should also check out some Full Force videos.

  • Melvin and RFTW still tour. He looks pretty much the same sans the jheri "oh, so very!" curl.

  • feel like I was 10 again.

  • They coulda put this in that movie "Wargames". But hey, the song still kicks ass!!

  • very good stil like it
