  • Who is this guy?

Is he related to Celine Dion?

  • they both have similar voices..

  • Does anyone know if they attempted to ask him in french?

  • "If you were president today, what would have you done to prevent this crisis?" That actual question that Murphy asked Dion, doesn't actually make sense.

  • yikes. that was painful to sit through. it was like having to explain a pretend scenario to a child. he's clearly not as sharp as a potential prime minister should be. ex-nay on the vote.

  • Dion's excuses:

    hearing problem

    language problem

    phrasing problem

The only reason you give multiple excuses is because you hope one of them is what others want to hear.

Some people latched onto the language, others to the hearing problem, and then when all else fails it's CTV's fault.

    Game-Set-Match.

  • If he can't understand "What would you have done?", he's not fit to be elected.

And if he CAN understand it and pretends not to be able too, then he doesn't deserve to be elected.

Either way ... this bud's perdue!

  • He understands the question, he just has no answer, no clue about what he would have done.

  • He is just a little bit of a Frenchie.... LOL... is he ever dumb. If this man ever got elected, what would we do if he went to have peace talks with Iran or North Korea? He would not understand anything they say to them?? this is NOT THE type of person we want in control of our country.

  • You gave this video the perfect title SplattoMan. What Dion did was a trainwreck. The reporter asked the question right. Canada is in trouble if Dion becomes Prime Minister.

  • Dion is a joke. Canada is trouble if he becomes Prime Minister. The Liberals are good at breaking promises & fear mongering.

  • Saying they are not going to show the clip then show the clip. Good to know what Murphy and CTVs word is worth. Sounds like a polititan flip flopping....remember that steve next time you comment on a politition that flip flops.

  • Right, attack the media for offering Dion the interview so he can explain his plan for Canada. It's not CTVs fault he has no plan!

  • Splatto - were you dropped on your head as a child? A badly worded question and an agreement - not the lack of a plan - are the issue.

  • I'm able to answer the question of what I would have done if I was Prime Minister. Dion must have been dropped on his.

  • YESSSSSS

    CONSERVATIVES ARE SET TO WIN!

good job dion, whats with liberals trying to hide everything?

    pieces of shit

  • Right. In the various phrasings, we keep hearing, "What would YOU have done?" Simple, eh?

Dion and his followers are quite the card players, playing the language card (ESL) and the disability card (hearing). Then, going beyond the language card, some have come up with a new one to play: the "grammar card"!

Also, some are playing the conspiracy card, claiming a Conservative setup. I wouldn't put it past them to try -- somehow -- to play the race card next -- loonies will find a way! HA!

  • It's a shame that Dion is playing victim. He is playing the language card, disability card, and anything else that he thinks "this is unfair!". Clearly he was not ready for this question and even tried to answer it but realized it was a garbage answer so he wanted to start again.

  • I would question why CTV ever agreed to not show the footage...this would have been a dis-service to all Canadians. I have to think that if Harper had dont the same thing that CTV would never have made the original agreement

  • Mr. Dion, please take ESL lessons first and then address your job application to Tim Hortons.

  • The question should have been asked....

"If you were the *current* Prime Minister of Canada, how would you have handled the crisis?" (correct)

  • Stephane Dion was asked what he would have done differently. Is is a simple question. Dion has no answer and is now trying to attack the question.

  • DarcyTucker: "what would you have done" is the original. "how would you have handled" is your substitution.

Let's think this through... you substituted a subjunctive+future perfect for another subjunctive+future perfect. You changed "what" to "how" and you changed the verb "to do" to "to handle".

There is zero difference. I know if you were the interviewer you would have slow-pitched the question a dozen more times, but you couldn't have made it any simpler, grammatically and logically.

  • This is not about not understanding English. Unless scripted or briefed previously, he is not capable of answering. This is not a question he was prepared to answer and unexpected. I love the way he uses lack of understanding as an excuse for inability to address a VERY SIMPLE QUESTION. Listen to his lame answer. He repeats past speeches with no substance and sounds like he is about to cry. He doesn't have a plan. 30 day plan; haha. Liberals are good at marketing buzz words and fear mongering.

  • I don't see the big deal here. He looked like he just wanted to answer a very open ended question from the correct context.

  • As his well known Liberal colleague might say when viewing the video footage "THE PROOF IS THE PROOF!", and we want this man to lead Canada in these troubled times? WAKE UP ONTARIO if you think times are tough now then give the Liberals 4 years of mess management and then we'll really have a mess!

  • Wow, just wow. This is the best the Liberal's have to offer, give me a break.
