@ARNRF67 Yes, the lake was drained to facilitate new sewer pipes, which were to run underground beneath the lake bed. I can only speculate on the reason they decided to go under the lake...possibly it was a more direct path to the destination. I'm not sure though.
I've lived in Macon my whole life (43 years) and never knew that Lake Wildwood was ever drained. Do you know why they did it?
