Okay, woah, First off Mustaine IS a good guitar player, Kirk IS a good guitar player, in my opinion they have totally different styles now. I'm sorry I just get sick of the bickering, I mean my god you would think that GUITAR PLAYERS, like myself, would know about DIFFERENT guitar playing, even if it is the same genre, they don't line up like they did in the 80's...It's 2012, it's time to move on...they did...

I was wrong when I thought Kirk was a good guitarist.

Listen to the studio solo from Ride the lightning, and then listen to the live version. Kirk fucks with everything.

I'm 17 years old and I can play all solos from Kill 'em All, Ride Lightning, Master Of Puppets, ...And Justice for All and Black Album 1000 times better than kirk.

Look at the last show, kirk fucked up with the first solo of The Four Horsemen, and this is a extremely easy solo.

@TheRomulo1986 The Ride the Lightning solo is THE PERFECT example of how terrible Kirk is. I point it out all the time, but people never notice, so THANK YOU! That's my #1 favorite Metallica solo and he ruins it!

@FadeToPuppets no, kirk is extermely overrated, james is a better guitarist than kirk is.like Ryan said, its kindof just a phase, that i myself did not go through.. metallica has always been my favorite band but i hated kirks guitar playing the second i picked up a guitar.. just go shut yourself in a room with every megadeth album (besides risk) and after youve listened to them, tell me kirks a good guitarist.

@thrasherlml I even thought Kirk was amazing for a minute when I was a teenager because I just didn't know any better and didn't know anything about guitar. Then I got into Maiden, Priest, Megadeth and was blown away. Kirk was pretty good on albums (except Death Magnetic) but watching him fuck everything up live is what really shows how bad he is.

I'd personally not go with an ESP at all and I know they are nice I had a truckster for a while and i have also had assorted ESP and ltd guitars i sold the truckster unfortunately to buy an amp

@FadeToPuppets You're still young. Listen to more bands and eventually you'll realize how mediocre he is. And don't just go by the studio albums, listen to live performances and you'll see how bad he's gotten.
