Someday it will be like the Iliad I hope. We'll have neural-pay-per-view by production companies like Mecca and Bethlehem instead of Orion and Paramount (Olympus). We'll visit the Vatican like we now do the Parthenon. There'll be Cartoons of Jesus and Hercules fighting aliens :)
well honestly I understand where Canaximander is coming from. Old outdated traditions are not needed. I am a sikh. All were told to do is live like a human being. You have two pics...well I tink so anyway...of sikhs which are a perfect illustration of how sikhi has turned into a religion. there is no need for religions. just lettin you know about sikhi...its not a religion. not tryna preach...just jammin 2 da music.lol
Would it be fair to classify Sikh as a philosophy? Much the same way that Taoism or Confucianism is? Philosophies seem to me to be the mirror we look into to judge ourselves, religion is the mirror we hold up for others to look into. Like that, sort of?
To be honest...classify Sikhi in what ever category you wish...all i say is that Sikhi's beliefs are for the individual...as you say "self-reflection" and self-realisation...dont point at others...just live your life as you should and dont interfere with others; that = peace. How simple is that; no palestine, no iraq, no al-qaeda.lol...only in an ideal world mate. lol
There is no reason to whiteout the things you don't like the truth is you are to follow the message in its true form. Obedience to God has to come first before anyone can even understand the Bible.
I'm sorry, I'm confused. Are you saying that first you must believe then you should read why you should believe? I'm confused. Are you claiming a magical power to be able to read words I cannot see on the page? Or are you asserting that while we must obey the words it is the spirit (magical power) that guides the meaning of the words? I don't understand.
I am further confused about the Obedience. Obey first, study second. That sounds like circular reasoning and presupposition to me. Sorry I'm still bogged down in the confusion over the magical power that manifests when reading the Bible. Does this occur with other texts? I'm just trying to make sense of it all, any help you can offer would be appreciated.
Finally I have to ask what you mean by "follow the message in it's true form." You have read the book of Leviticus I take it? It's horrible! The book from cover to cover reads like a neolithic manual on social control and manifest destiny. You can't possibly condone the brutality in a modern context can you?
Richard Dawkins speaks of the American geologist Kurt Wise in "The God Delusion". Kurt tore out all the pages that must be wrong if science is right and faced a choice. He could either throw away the tattered remains, or continue studying - he chose his faith and a great mind was lost to superstition.
Cool! I hardly thought I was the first to ever suggest this but if Jefferson and/or Franklin were the original authors that puts me in good company, if only in a very limited way. I'll have to research that more, thanks for the heads up.
True, it might be less work to actually type out the parts you do agree with. I just want them to read it, the whole damn thing. In the words of Penn Gillette "We need more atheists and nothing will get you there faster, than reading the damn Bible."

Nicely put together but unfortunately it lacked valid content.

Could you please be more specific on what you mean by "valid"?

If you took out much of the outdated material in the bible, I wonder how small it would be? Great video 5stars!!!
