Anyway: In parts 1, 2 and 3 Pinhead WAS Hellraiser! After that the movies just sucked big time, because Pinhead was reduced to nearly nothing and only to be seen in the last scenes.

Sorry to tell you that you are right and wrong. Though Hellraiser did come out in 87 before the term was widely used. Steampunk had already been coined by 1983 by the science fiction author K. W. Jeter to refer this book Morlock Night from 1979 which was then used to "brand" a style of in books written even long before that. Such as Titus Alone by Mervyn Peake, published in 1959.

So in all, Steampunk has actually been around longer, which could have easily influenced a few things in the movie.
