While it may be true certain drugs are over prescribed these days, it doesn't take a genius to see how one-sided this documentary is. Sure it appears from the video that most people you ask on the street are being treated for a mental illness or know someone who is, but that's because they edited the video to include only those interviews that support their claim. An objective documentary would also expose the plentiful evidence for that these drugs do in fact help many many people.

.Cymbalta! I was on it for two months and felt "flat line" emotionally. . No depression, but no emotions. My doctor told me to take half a pill for three days and then I could quit. I have had headaches, nausea, diarrhea and then last night (the third day of no Cymbalta) I had screaming crying muscle spasms in my upper legs. I am going back on a half dose for five days then every other day for two or three weeks. Do not quit this cold turkey!

So Here is the problem... The majority of the experts in this film are Psychologists, and drug reps. Psychologists do not have any background in biochemistry or pharmacology and cannot prescribe medications. A drug rep as 0 (zero) science background. They wine and dine to sell the scripts to hospitals and practices. I would like more folks who are qualified to give a perspective instead of these folks who just chip in their 2cent opinions.

this is so full of shit. I'm using all kind of antidepressants and I'm all good. For years doctors prescribed me all kind of pills and the best of them are really working. Right now I'm using Seroxat (in USA is know as Paxil) and is a dream! I've used also Zoloft, Prozac, Xanax (alot of it), benzo's and things like that. Excellent chemos! I think this documentary is made just in the pure USA spirit of: Conspiration Theory and shit like that

I was prescribed amitriptaline for migranes and my health is horrible. I'm weening myself off it from 150mg. it's hell. My heart rate is always over 100 around 120.

I should have listened to myself and not taken it. I'm going to stick to natural remedies.

@na4evr Wow, my 14 year old was prescribed elavil for his daily chronic headache. He was checked out by many different specialists becauses he was fainting at 1st too.. I finally found a chiropractor who practices also, N.A.E.T. , accupuncture, and other natural remedies. After 3 visits my son 's headache rating of 1-10 is now a 5 with NO MEDICATION! I cam to God, praying for help. Pray for help.be sincere... it works!

@writertrump Indeed if anything the eating disorders seem to be addictions and the mood swings are simple to say the least. Teens always have mood swings it's a part of growing up basic biology since the hormones are stirring up a storm, just like when women are pregnant and if that ever gets classified as a disorder then action has to be taken immediately. But as it stands now it can be changed, people just have to start protesting and the politicians will be forced to take action.

also my problem is with in the bill it states the gov will now tell you what care you get and WHEN you get it, they also have say in how your life ends and in living wills!

I'm no Scientologist that's for sure. I'm an American that's concerned for our children and these drugs are ruining lives. Get a puppy dog if you are depressed, in studies the serotonin levels were way higher in the group that got a dog then with Prozac. It's normal to feel all these things, learn from these teachers, don't hide them away with LIFE destroying drugs. I watched all of the documentary and have to state explicitly that had it not been for my medication, I would have committed suicide. I don't care how much money the companies make. I now have a quality of life, which I did not have before.

i know... think about the people who are helped by these drugs. i have been hospitalized twice for hearing voices and other things. pills help me alot and i know alot of other people they have helped too. other non psychotropic drugs cause more deaths, but the fact that these effect your brain scares the shit out of people i guess. its just hysteria drugs will always kill some people but mostly they help us.

I don't see this as scientology per say but more or less a survivor type thing. The positions of psychiatry are overly polarized and although they help a lot of people these drugs harm some, regardless of the DSM drones crying scientology every time someone brings up this part of this this is important for people to know about.
