  • Wow! I can't believe I got the chance to see this again, I was in Kindergarten when this aired in the 70's and watched it all the time.

  • I watched this every early morning on CTV, but before this, there was a TV Series that took place in a Kingdom that had 2D type cartoon animals, and puppets played the roles of the people in the Kingdom.

I'm trying to remember the name, but I don't know what the name of THAT TV show was. Kingdom Adventures? Or something?

does anyone know, or remember the name of that show?

  • i used to watch this when i was like...3...i have been looking for it for moooonths...hahaha i love it!!!

  • i cannot belieeeeve i found it...hahahahaha i tooootally used to watch this when i was like...3...hahaha i loooove it

  • oh wow i loved this show, been looking for it is it available on DVD?

  • This was a cute show.

  • my husband and I are watching Blue Planet and watching the Ocean videos and It made me remember this show..and I told him about it last night. I totally loved watching this show. Even my father enjoyed it too...I remember it made me feel happy to see him relax and actually laugh at some of the story lines that were funny..and he was mentally Ill and took a lot to make him happy and this show made him happy and myself too...

So happy to see this clip on youtube.

    :)

  • waterville 4 life!

  • this was honestly my favourite show ever

  • I've been looking for clips of this show! I used to watch it on YTV in the station's early years!

  • @omondieu So did I! I watched every afternoon when I was in kingarten!

  • @omondieu YES! it was part of the daytime schedule! i just re-found this today, i have really vague memories of it... but then i must have been 2-3 when i saw it.. it was before i started daycare.

  • Believe it or not, the episodes I have of the Waterville Gang have a different voice for Dodger Dolphin.

  • You can see some of the puppets from this show, and from "Readalong" in the Museum of Civilization, in Ottawa, Canada.

  • Billy Van ("Hilarious House of Frightenstein", "Bits & Bytes", "Bizarre", "Party Game") voiced Dodger Dolphin, and Jack Duffy ("Party Game", "Bizarre") voiced Sharky.

And like a lot of Canadian shows produced at that time, "The Waterville Gang" got its theme music from one of the then-popular albums of Moog synthesizer music. "Hilarious House of Frightenstein" and "The Uncle Bobby Show" were two others that had Moog theme tunes.

  • Billy Van usually voiced Dodger, but for some reason, he didn't in this episode. Weird.

  • oh wow thanks for that information! I've been wondering about the kind of synths used on the waterville gang :)

  • could you please post more waterville gang videos? It's one of my favourite shows and I haven't seen it in years

    thanks :-)

  • Great vid bro, one of my favourite show from back then.

It used to air on YTV next to Snelgrove Snail, yes? Ever find any media of that show? I can't find any for the life of me.

    Either way, thanks so much.

CTV was airing this show in '05? Damn, I wish I'd known.

  • "Snelgrove Snail" was similar to this show. Dan Redican (The Frantics, "Puppets Who Kill") was one of the puppeteers on "Snelgrove".

  • In fact I mixed the two of their casts up for a significant portion of my life until I searched for the truth, ha ha ha. I'm still on the lookout for Snelgrove media :).

  • Holy cow, what a flashback! I used to love this silly show, Angel's voice was so pretty and soothing (I don't remember her name, the angelfish, they probably called her Angel). Thanks for posting!

  • Julie Amato voiced Angel. She also voiced Pretty on "Readalong", and she hosted her own short-lived variety show on CTV.

  • Angelfish

    Her little hissyfits were hilarious

I really hope that they release this show on dvd someday but I doubt that will ever happen :(

  • I might... some day. BR

  • Her name was Angel, and her voice was provided by Julie Amato, who also voiced Preshus seal. BR

  • Another is near the :24 mark.

  • If you catch this show on TV, watch very closely... there are a couple of spots (one is at about :37 in this clip) where the blue-screen/chroma key effect is exposed. I came across one episode some time ago, and there were many instances where dark blue splotches would show up under the puppets, due to shadows and/or a bad keying job.

  • We didn't have the technology at the time, and I developed the original concept ahead of everyone else. It required the facilities of 3 separate control rooms to make it happen. BR

  • I wonder if anyone else noticed that CTV aired this show Saturday mornings in 2005...

  • Holy crap, I TOTALLY thought I dreamed this show...but no, it actually existed!
