  • The middle-east and incense...

  • Best song on my favorite soundtrack.

  • The Kingdom of heaven version that is the director's cut is one of the best movies ever made. The cinematography i amazing, the sound track is great, it is the most epic of stories, about two religions and a man's pilgrimage to find salvation in Christ for his sins.

The very nature of God was shown in mercy, in Balian's refusal to take the throne as he was against killing his enemy and Saladin's mercy at Jerusalem sums up the age of Chivalry, sums up the choice to have God's merciful nature.

  • @ConstantineJoseph Another movie that exemplifies the futility of the Crusades in this age of Chivalry is "Arn the Knight Templar". See trailer at: watch?v=1EAqu28Dd-M

Like Kingdom of Heaven,it describes how,for some, the act of fighting in the Crusades, modified peoples' belief systems.Along with the trials and tribulations of returning home from a long and fruitless war.Plus the lead who plays ARN has a little more in the way of acting chops than Orlando Bloom.

  • I love this. I think we've all had to 'burn the past' at some stage, as balian did at the start of this movie

  • @akropiss My only complaints with this movie are Bloom's acting, and the way Reynald and Guy are written as very flat villains. Other than that, the director's cut (the REAL film) is a masterpiece! :D

  • i think if christian churches sung these songs they would have more young members

  • Fabuleux! Magnifique!

  • i actually wrote a section of my novel where a main character dies listening to this song over and over again, it invokes such emotion that you feel a sense of loss or acceptance. i guess thats why its called burning the past

  • Fits so well with AC and Medieval 2:total war.

  • @EliadOnline couldnt agree more :)

  • Epic film.

    Epic music.

And this one really gets to me...<3

  • after i saw that movie and heard the soundtrack, it made me really want to go to heaven!!

  • Ave, Regina Caelorum,

    Ave, Domina Angelorum

    Salve, radix, salve, porta

Ex qua mundo lux est orta

    (one of the many translations)

    Hail Queen of the Heavens

    Hail,ruler of the angels

    Hail root, hail portal,

From whom light has shone to the world.

  • @katestudio All thumbs-up on this person for (even if incorrect) a beautiful translation.

  • Comment removed

  • @katestudio Well I did state ''Even if incorrect'' :) Even such translations only coming close to the one you gave would be equally beautiful.

  • Comment removed

  • @katestudio Couldn't agree with you more, even if this song wouldn't have any lyrics involved, I bet people would come up with something similar to such a masterpiece.

Myself for one, tend to listen only to songs that reflect how I feel, strangely enough this song came up today, and if I could have a themesong this would be it. XD.

  • @katestudio wow...latin is one hell of a language.... :) i love it!!!

  • @stephos21 it's beautiful and not dead as some people would have you believe:)

  • @katestudio good Fucking job bro

  • This music has soul... because it moves the soul.

  • When I'm sitting alone at home, like today, feeling lonely I love to listen to this kind of music.

It's so soothing. It can make all of Your problems and thoughts disappear...

  • @StriderEstel In that case i hope you can help me, what is this sort of music called? Any recommendations?

  • @piddi87

You mean the chant the choir sings? It's called "Ave Regina caelorum".

If You liked this music, then I guess You will like other works of Harry Gregson-Williams like "Prince of Persia" or "Spy Game".

But I have to admit that "Kingdom of Heaven" score is very original and there's no other music quite like it.

  • i love this song!

  • oh!! i love this song!

  • orlado bloom's best acting and one of my favorite movies. Amazing!

  • Lookm at this picture while listening to this piece, look at the faces of the soldiers, it is haunting how perfectly it fits. (I cannot post the actual weblink, as youtube won't let me so type in "crusade art" on google images and it is the first picture that is shown, the one with the angel.)

  • I watched the Special Edition Director's Cut.... Potentially the most epic movie I've ever seen.

  • wonderful music

  • I always come back to this if I've sinned and think about how I can make it up and forgive...

  • i love those times. i would miss the dentist and soft drink coca cola. even tho i heard the vikings invented a really nice drink of a mix of honey with milk.

  • @MTotenkopf ive looked up a few of those mead recipies and im gonna try to make some myself. thanks for the inspiration

  • so many knights died for nothing. its in the blood of few to still follow honor, something that so many have forgotten or dont care anymore. i wonder what will the world become when there is no honor or hope for human kind. Do the right thing even in the face of death.

  • @MTotenkopf Those knights didn't die for nothing. They died for what they believed in. And it's something that, although most people frown on, it's what counts. Its the thought of the Crusade that mattered, not the means and the deaths.

  • @Dictator300 you are in indeed right. i have never seen it that way before i guess i am too selfish and though with my personality. i admire this man and respect them as such much more. *bow* to the crusades.

  • So many feelings in this masterpiece. Sorrow, sadness, sacrifice, bravery and reminiscences from past. It brings a picture of warriors who must leave their families and set out on a long and danger journey.

  • @SmokeyMichiel What am I trying to do?

  • @SmokeyMichiel United States of America's Founders ftw.

  • this song truley reminds me of the dark ages the low position every one was end

it like the peole did no care about politics

they cared about God because their lives were miseralble but thae cathlic chruch abused that and twisted their church to such a extent that the people made a refromation and shortly after that the dark ages ending isnt that ironic

  • You think people were free before the Pharaohs? Before great kings and emperors, we still had city leaders, elder councils, chiefs, clan-heads, etc, and before that, when we were only small family-sized groups, there was always an alpha male.

A singular dominant authority is a part of human nature. We are pack animals, social animals. It's in our nature, and in the nature of all social hierarchies, wolves, lions, ants, bees. In all cooperative societies, there is some form of central government

  • Very true. Well spoken, and well researched. It is in our very being to have leaders and followers. I must say though, we are all free. There is always a choice, even if the choice appears to be death. It's still a choice. There are freedoms untold in the merest thought, and escapism is an essential of our lives. Thus we can escape "The system" without ever leaving it. :)

  • @Willothemask Indeed we are and to some extent we can, but often not without some sacrifice or obstacle. Those in power dont like to give it up readily.

  • look it up. Type in white hispanic.

  • My favorite movie! The movie is so well made it makes you travel back in time and live in that age... It's flawless. Director's Cut is the best! And the soundtrack for the movie is awesome. The best!

  • Matter is, what the people doing for this my friend? The answer is... nothing.

  • This is the epic movie of the highest quality i've ever seen, too bad the movie version is terribly cut.

  • @lowerlowerhk Yeah, but at least they put out a director's cut.

  • @lowerlowerhk Thats why you get the extended version.

  • @lowerlowerhk Yes the 'Director's Cut' has many additional 'relevant' scenes, the really help to fill out the story.

  • Quite possibly the best soundtrack ever made.

  • you bet :)

  • @ColbertNation88 it's amazing, but in my opinion the best soundracks are: lord of the rings 1,2,3, avatar.

  • @lazer171933

Lord of the rings soundtracks are amazing and excellent I agree but the soundtrack to kingdom of heaven has a mix of european and medieval middle eastern music, and it just sounds beautifull so I think that KoHs soubdtrack is better in that sense. And avatar I wasn't fond of the soundtrack as it was simply a mix of troys and titanics and it wasn't particularly unique, i think the best Horner soundytrack is aliens as it sounds sci-fi ish and thrilling.

  • @ColbertNation88 Quite possibly one of the best post 2000 films ever made. IMO.

  • @GUNFLASH20 Along with your warhammer tributes gunflash22!

  • i am sorry for your friends that died for oil

are goverments is real corrupt i think they

really dont care about us no more

  • Does anyone know the very first soundtrack that is played? It can be heard when the title "Kingdom of Heaven" appears in the film's first few seconds.. I want to get it!

  • Im a freethinker but im sure if there was a god, he didnt create so many different races of people to spur conflict.

  • were all the same, humans find any way to differentiate each other.

  • exactly, we are here to celebrate and share our differences :)

  • this shong makes you think of all

    the sad times and regrat

  • when Im drunk I just zone out and flashback to Iraq when I hear this tune... I feel a connecting through the crusaders no offense to the Muslims but as a Catholic this catches a chord with me.!

  • native americans defend their nation their family and we europian want only their death

  • umm yuor kinda late on that dude.

  • Go study American cultures and stop bullshitting yourself. Native American cultures were just as equal or even more violent then Western Cultures.

Scottish soldiers, and I mean Scottish, a warrior nation, even found the Red Indians to be so foul with prisoners, torturing and mutilating them, they would show them no quarter on the battlefield.

Learn your stuff and stop chewing that liberal observational crap.

  • @BritGBM

    FINALLY! ANOTHER PERSON WITH BRAINS!!!

  • Caue white men gota rule the world...

  • @DOSU344

oh, totally. just like black men are all unfaithful. you're an idiot.

  • Bro is a joke LOL..)))

    Have you seen GENERATION KILL...))

There is this black soldier that says that all the time when the white Generals kill civilians..

  • Generation kill is full of Sh** its a bunch of grunts who hardly experienced combat..... I wish they would have made a documentary like that in Fallujah during Phantom Fury.

  • Racism is not the answer, we are all people that live on this planet, we don't know why we exist, so please stop fighting each other with words ore what else.

We're people that live on this globe and we live only 70 till 80 years so enjoy the live a little bite.

Racism is hate not love, i'm white to but if you are yellow, black, latino it doesn't matter because we are all the same.

  • Well genetecly we are defferent ;p but i agree. No point in hating each other

  • Sorry i ment genetically*

  • latino isn't a race, most latino's are white.

  • eh?

  • Im "latino", from Colombia, and i am not black, or either. Im white... -.-

  • @pieeastoreleven

Native Americans (Indians) defend thier nation, thier family and we Europians want thier death.

Whos death? Muslims or Native Americans? Native American's nations have been destroyed.

  • not questioning u but anyone here talking about native americans lol whats that got to do with the holy lands and crusades the native americans wernt aware of our existance until the west discovered the new world

  • @devenci

you make no sense, learn English before debating in the language.

  • @KWolfe318

Yea, I'm not the only one who needs to learn English. Look at yourself.

  • @Pieeatereleven

    you're an idiot

  • The crusades... a very sad time in human history, blame lies on both sides.

  • Genesis 1:27

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them"

Notice the word "He" in the sentence said quite a few times.

And God looks like one of us, or we look like God.

  • Actually 'in his own image' doesn't mean we look like him- as we cannot see God, it means more that we have the same traits as him- such as the ability to be loving, merciful, forgiving.

  • images are different than traits, the way you look is your image and the ability to love and etc. are just what you said Traits.

  • ... But mostly in my soul" From the old Catholic Catechism.

  • THis (music) and music like it , as well as art and incredible architecture, are the only good that ever came out of the Church and the Catholic religion...and yes, I am Catholic. SO thanks for incredible music...now sell the Vatican and feed the world!

ps. Catholics: Learn the real way in which God wants us to live from the people you slaughtered and stole everything from just to convert them to your religion...the Native Americans!

  • Don't forget, the Native Americans had some massacres of their own toward the pioneers. So i wouldn't exactly see that their way is righteous.

  • True! But if you can tell me based on historical fact that it was the Native Amercians who attacked the "pioneers" first, then you have the utlimate point! Because all I have heard and read is that Native Americans greeted all "New" visitors well. ANd I mean that they welcomed them and even helped them with food, shelter, etc.

But I don't know about you, but if someone attacked me or my family first, I would def. attempt to defend against that. The Crusades centered on conversion or die!

  • I respect you so much for saying that and i completely agree with you.

  • why?

  • god has no gender we call him he because back then a man was the highest and that is probaly why jesus

    was a man mabe

  • Hail, Queen of Heaven.

    Hail, Ruler of Angels.

Hail the source, hail the gateway

from which the Light of the World was born.

  • That was amazing, where did you get it?

  • my own translation, didn't much like the one given above forced into a rhyme.

  • i thought the source of Jesus's birth was the Holy Spirit? i think you should reconsider hailing Mary as the Queen of Heaven and Ruler of Angels, not only could it be considered idolatory but it is not a biblical teaching. Amen.

  • the words are from a real mediaeval catholic antiphon and yes, it seems Mary was pretty much elevated to the status of a goddess. I'm not religious myself, just enjoying a beautiful piece of music. Does anyone know if Harry Gregson penned this tune or is it mediaeval too?

  • No idea, sorry, but if you liked this so much you should listen to the complete ost of the movie. There are 3 cds i think.

  • as long as they worship the same god it should not be an issue, and they should not try to kill or force others to convert, it has to be done by free will, for free will is Gods greatest gift to mankind.

  • he or she allowed us to choose our own fate and destiny, the reason I say god as being either a male or female is because well, god created both genders and has no shape or form, so why not, and if all souls sired from god, then how would it be possible for a male to give birth to something such as a soul, I mean if you belive that the body was made out of clay than what about the lifeforce, that cannot just be created, it has to be given birth to.

  • But if you don't beleive it then I respect your point of view, afterall I am not here to force anything upon anyone, I am just voicing my own thoughts on what god's Gender is, and in my view, god is both male and female since god seems to have both qualites of each gender and hey god created both genders so.. why not? cept that its spirit wise, and not in a way thats vile either, cause that would just be weird. .

  • Anyway I respect your views on god youtubers, so respect mine, treat thy neighbors as you treat thy self.

even thought we arn't actual neighbors, we still live on the same plane of existance and planet, so in a sense we are all neighbors.

  • So beautiful. All hyms to our Blessed mother are. Ave Regina

  • I love this song, and I play Assassin's Creed to this soundtrack. It's so fitting.

  • @Legion6115 Lol, everytime I play Assassins creed it reminds me of this movie. They should have implemented the soundtrack :p

  • @RisingDawnStudios Me too. Upon hearing of the ubisoft's project "Assasins Creed" I was reminded of Kingdom of Heaven. I wouldn't doubt it if the movie inspired the games creative process.

  • what are the words

  • Ave Regina coelorum,

    Ave Domina Angelorum:

    Salve radix, salve porta,

Ex qua mundo lux est orta.

    What means:

    HAIL, O Queen of Heav'n enthron'd,

    Hail, by angels Mistress own'd

Root of Jesse, Gate of morn,

Whence the world's true light was born.

  • my favourite music in the whole movie

  • الله أكبر

    deus est valde

  • May they all rest in peace...christians and muslims together. Thanks to everyone who made this film so respective of those that died; especially the brilliant composer and musicians. Makes me remember...mmm...very beautiful.

    x

  • yes you are right

  • this is probably one of the best soundtracks ever. I really love it because it gets the mood across so well and is is just amazing listening to it!

  • where's the "S**t is on!" war/battle music?

like the name of the song when those dudes are attacking the city and such....

  • My dad is looking for the song at the end credits, does somebody know the titel?

    thx!

  • the song's name is BURNING THE PAST.

it's by composer Harry Gregson Williams

  • Ave, Regina caelorum,

    Ave, Domina Angelorum

    Salve, radix, salve, porta,

Ex qua mundo lux est orta

  • AMEN

  • Utterly beautiful!

  • best soundtrack of ever

  • Yeah if you watch the theatrical version, it has less depth than the extended director's cut version.

  • This is a very emotional piece of music. It fits the setting of the movie perfectly. By the way, I recommend the Director's Cut of Kingdom Of Heaven. Its a must see.

  • Yes I have it. It have 3 hours long and example the battle of Karak is longer.

  • Incredible song. I need to find some more Harry Gregson-William

  • Chronicles of Narnia, they are both fantastic, the beginning of the battle from THe lion the witch and the wardrobe is exactly the same as the battle of kerak. but its gonna happen since they are both HGW.

  • this sounds soo sad! :(

  • EPIC!!!

  • It's a preyer :)

  • Great vocals, like a shockwave of sound and emotion.

  • i'd agree, i love this part, it's such an introductory song and very church like, in tune sense

  • Thanks so much! I didn't realize that Harry Gregson-Williams did this music~ I couldn't get why a lot of it sounded like Narnia : ). This is amazing *__* .... I'm stunned at what an awesome job he did with this CD. Thanks again for posting!!!
