I am so getting the tube drive, but the other ones, I don't use modulation/oscillation FX enough to justify 400 bucks a pedal. But the Tube Drive isn't a pedal, it's a plexi preamp section that can turn a bare bones amp in to a versatile channel switching (footswitchable at that) gain monster! So you want to get an 18 watt for recording. Spend about 3.5K on a good vintage plexi, or spend 400 bucks on the tube drive and another 50 on an old hammond AO-35 or AO-44 (organ reverb amps) PLEXI CITY!
Was that supposed to be Old Greg from the Mighty Boosh at the end? Because if it was, I'm kind of proud, and also a little embarrassed that I recognized it.
Problem with pedals like this is that they're sure to get ripped off at a gig. At $400 a pop, it's just not worth it for real gigging musicians. A whole pedalboard full of gear like this is a small fortune. And the only one who's going to know it's a "special botique" pedal... is you. I guarantee: your audience will never know the difference between this and an EH Small Stone. For home recording, it could be a different story, but the end listener still may never tell the difference.
Some people create music for themselves as well as others. Finding a sound that resonates with you is like therapy. If a guitarist can tell the difference and prefers one pedal over another and it makes them happy.... usually they'll play better. Which in the end will effect the audience.
Indeed. The vast majority of folks are more concerned with what you're playing and how it moves them emotionally than if you spent $200 more on your phaser pedal than the next guy. It is a nice piece of gear, though.
Absolutely stunning! hands down the best effects out there today. the attention to detail and build quality is immaculate. Nothing stacks up to these pedals. Andy just said it, "a clas of it's own..."
I do love the sound of this pedal but does anyone know where the tubes are in the circuit? Tubes will affect the tone with basically anywhere you put them but i believe there would be a difference if they were just substituting an op-amp or if they directly contributed to the phasing, right?
I always hated phasers, but i really like this one...

sound that cuts through the mix. Any recommendations?

Leslie Speakers are still produced and sold. They're a staple of Hammond Organs.
moucon 2 years ago
I have a leslie speaker with my guitar. It's not a "true" leslie but it is a leslie in the sense that it has a rotating cone and speaker

Does anyone know what Andy means by "Leslie tones" throughout a lot of the vids? Especially when he's looking at modulation effects?"
DeadWhiteButterflies 2 years ago 2
Type in "Leslie Speaker" here. They predate Chorus and Univibe pedals.
ProGuitarShopDemos 2 years ago
@ProGuitarShopDemos hmmm, they predate. They eat them (predate) and come out before them (pre-date)

That depends on what kind of audience you get...........
