  • I have many cousins in Madison. In fact, you can see some of them at the 2:17 point.

  • and they still have that market. My grandma goes to it on Saturday

  • @CarlyAllHeart1

Hahahaha, I was born there, grew up in Trimble Co, Ky and my great aunt and uncle sold veggies there!

  • I saw a documentary on TV about this documentary of Madison, IN. It seemed the gov't during WWII wanted to produce a film about the "ideal" American hometown to show the troops overseas so they could be reminded of what they were fighting for and to keep up morale.. They studied a number of towns all across the country and finally settled on Madison as the most visually appealing and typically "ideal" of all the candidate towns. So they made this film. they still show this in the town museum.

  • Too bad you can only see the bridge briefly at the end.

  • This video really helps me out on making a book, (scrapbook, I hate it, guys don't make scrapbooks!), for school. It's gotta be about life during World War II, my fav subject.

  • My hometown also.............THANKS for posting.

  • Its great to see some classic video of my Hometown!! Madison is a great place to live. And all the buildings and stuff you see is still around!! You can even catch the farmers market on Sat still!!! Madison a true American Town!!!

  • I agree with you. I live here and love it!

Madison is a beautiful little historic town.

  • I was born in Madison in 1965. I don't live there anymore. But I have great memories of it from childhood. It was fun to see this film.

  • "Today [the paper] disagrees on many domestic issues with the current administration in Washington." It's a shame that this is isn't happening more often today.

  • I don't read the Madison paper, but I don't know of a single paper in this country that does anything but disagree with the current administation.

  • I was born there in 1956. I had not seen this film. Thanks!

  • Aww,for the good old days.
