  • @baudchaser that's why I planted the magical word "IF"...I know it's impossible as of now to add cylinders to a already running motor and I know Nissan did not put enough room in the block to accommodate 1300ccs more of displacement...having 100hp/liter does not mean the engine is "tapped out" lol..I got 70 more hp n/a from my already 100hp per liter motor and could still make more...dont insinuate I don't know what I'm talking about because I talk hypothetically, I know my shit..I built my car

  • It better beat that mustang considering is newer and has more power, but alot of you forget that when u want to go fast for cheap an old pushrod 5.0 mustang will get you the best bang for buck, if ur really on a budget u can pull junkyard gt40 iron heads , stock cobra intake and a ford racing cam and that combo puts most 5.0s into the 260rwhp range without even tuning the computer, $200 for heads,199 for cam and 300 for intake, for around 700 bucks u got a high 12 or mid 13 second car.

  • @fullmetaljacktt Plenty of fox body mustangs have done it, and i said high 12s and thats probably with slicks and some weight reduction but 13s are normal for a fox mustang with that much power, u do know a fox mustang is lighter than a 350z.

  • @fullmetaljacktt Well dont think that one without slicks wont get into the 12s , but even without removing weight and putting slicks a fox stang with those mods i mentioned will get into the 13s, and yes they start out around 14s when all u have is basic boltons. A lot of people think 5.0s suck becuase they produced poor power but they forget that these engines had horrible heads from the factory. If u can afford it u can get aluminium heads and the car will get into 12s easy.

  • @cubano1389 Yea but a set of heads like that is going to cost you twice what you were talking about not to mention the labor if you can't install it yourself. Plus my guess is the heads alone will only get you to mid 13's maybe.

  • @fullmetaljacktt Sometimes u can find used aluminum pieces for half the price, and installing heads on a 5.0 ford is easy compared to engines like the 4.6 . Kid you not but i have seen fox get into the 13s without changing the stock heads or cam, with bolt ons only . U have to be a really good driver and have a light car also. Also if u are good at porting u can port the gt40 iron heads and get some good flow out of them.

  • and if my mustang had a jet engine it would have better weight to HP ratio, get back on the point the 370 doesn't have a v8, the mustang is at least 10 years old, 5.0 back then were not pumping out HP like they are today. the 370 might have been in the lead, but in my mind lost the shit out of that race by a toddler with a backwards cap

  • @willizim exactly, thank you for proving my point..think about it, the 370z motor outperforms the new 5.0... 2 less cylinders and closer to 100hp per liter.. 3.7L-333hp 5.0L-420hp so scale the 3.7L up 1L keeping this ratio it would make at least 433hp as a 4.7L v6 if not more... Still 300ccs smaller than the 5.0 2 less cylinders and 13hp more..the vq35 is a better motor than the new 5.0, thank you for proving my point.

  • @CivicSIEm1 Except that you can't simply "keep" the ratio & up the number of cylinders. It doesn't work that way. Smaller displacement can always rev easier due to less reciprocating mass! American manufacturers (and everybody else who knows what they're talking about) know this. They KNOWINGLY sacrifice HP/L for low-end power. If they wanted HP/L, they could certainly do it. News flash - America is NOT taxed on engine size, thus, HP/L means jack shit. I drive an 07 350z...so...not biased.

I like starting with 100+hp/liter not less than 50hp/liter lol....and I like being under 3000lbs...something about light cars, they just handle better lol

It's not about Ford taking and putting in a tapped out motor that has very little potential left. You should know something about that driving a civic. Typically civics need motor swaps to be threats on the strip.

Yes, the Caddy engine was a 315ci V8, but it only produced 70 horsepower. The technological advancements weren't made at the time to create optimal power from the engine. Even the 5.0 in this video pales in comparison to the technology put into this 350z even though they really weren't produced that far apart.

  • Typical teenage fag with a 5.0. Does all the dress up- wheels, tires, paint, cowl hood, big tach etc- and doesn't mod the engine at all. So we have a sick, fast looking fox body that runs mid 14 1/4s. I'd beat this Mustang with my '92 convertible, stock looking car with nothing but Explorer upper/lower, pulleys and exhaust. I went 13.80s @ 100 mph on all season tires with the stock paper air filter, spare tire and jack in the trunk etc. '07+ 3.5 G and Z cars are only ~101 mph cars.

  • @joeyvillan I have done enough racing to tell by the look and sound that these cars are not very fast, how's that? And actually my Explorer setups go low 13s on 205/60R15 junk ass tires, and 12.70 - 12.80 with tire. Last car went 105 mph on motor in 110 degree heat, 5500 ft DA and 118 mph on bottle. I was into that car about $2500 including the cost of the car. Current car went 13.20 @ 107 with a 75 shot when it was complete stock. Paid $2600 for that one and it's pretty nice.

  • Bentley wilkinson- are you actually saying that aerodynamics have anything to do with a race at 55mph? That's retarded, that won't matter until about 100 at least. Even then not so much in this kind of race. The 5.0 had 225hp which is slow. Now with alum h/c/I+ full exhaust set up it'd be around 350hp and still be a 6-7k including the car. And good bye 25k 350z!

  • The mustang stock is a 15.0 -14.80 second car that does not mph that good.....This car sounded pretty stock except for exhaust and probably a k&n so they are around the same...In the last race they raced from a dig and the 5.0 launched better than the Z and won.. In this race the 350z had mph on the 5.0 and won... soo the Z has better mph on the 5.0 and the 5.0 has better e.t. on the Z...either way it was a good race and both are nice looking cars ...

  • It's not about how old/new a car is or if it's "japcrap" or an "american lead-sled".

    It's all about Power to Weight ratio and how to get that power into the ground, it's that simple. And when it comes to speeds over around 90km/h the aerodynamics will also be a big factor.

  • that wasnt really fair bc minus a full blown drag car with some well adjusted gears, above 120 or so you can smoke most 5.0's or any muscle car from that era. I'm not bashing. I owned a couple mustangs myself and currently drive a 08 NISMO Z, so in all fairness it was a good race. In turbo's defense though I will say he's right. I fuck around with my boy all the time and get pwned lol. but its still fun. lol

  • @Dallasmavs92 Age does matter actually, because technology evolves. 87-93 5.0 Mustangs came with 225hp from the factory, now look at the 2011 Mustang 5.0 pushing 412hp... If it was the 2011 5.0 vs. the 350z im sure there would be a different outcome.

  • once you put some work into that 302, its gonna be fast. it makes alright torque outta the box but its shorted in the HP department. very light for a mustang and the motor has alot of potential.
