USA Today reported that 1 in 4 army personnel that return from Iraq do so with a health or mental problem.

When will the US change? It's truly a crap country to live in unless you're well off.

For those who are saying that universal health care would mean an increase in taxes...well your right. Just like the way the oil companies raised prices on gas saying they had to due to cost, but yet they posted the largest profits during that time. Just like these companies said they needed government handouts but yet were paying out billions in bonuses. a person making minimum wage will have to pay $3800 a year for this "free" health coverage...which would turn them into a wage slave. so they would have to go on welfare because lets face it a min wage earner cant afford to pay an extra $400 a month and still pay bills. so now you have a WORKING class that is dependant on WELFARE and if they dont vote democrat they will be cut off from welfare and have to pay the $3800 again...we are ALL truly fucked if this bill passes LEFT AND RIGHT.

Nobody has answered the question to why other countries can do it be USA can't. Seriously vast majority of modern countries have universal health care yet they don't have this 50% tax you guys talk about or do they feel like a "wage slave" The only difference between them and US is that USA has too many fools who care more about pennies on the dollar than people's lives.

and yet all those other countries come here for their health care...why is that? oh ya thats right its because they dont have to wait 8 months to be "rationed" their "free" health care. they just go in get fixed and walk out the door with a modest bill. as opposed to paying out the ass for their entire lives finally need somthing done say broken arm or what not...wait 8 months get the call in have arm rebroke because it healed on its own and then reset and charged a deductable anyway. sounds fun

Yeah that doesn't happen, thats a lie that all fools REPEAT just because they heard it from someone else. If you're rich, and you need a special procedure done, then you go wherever the best doctor is. MANY wealthy americans see doctors in other countries depending on what it is. Many athletes go to Germany for reconstructive joint surgery, there's swiss doctors who use newer techniques for cancer, etc. It has nothing to do with waiting for something, thats false.

actually the reason that european nations have been able to "afford" national healthcare is because WE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE didnt have national healthcare nor the 80% taxes associated with national healthcare so americans could actually AFFORD to import european goods. look at americas trade deficeit before and after europe passed national healthcare. we had a trade SURPLUS before with europe. actually that is the only good thing about healthcare...he he he we will be FUCKING europes economy =)

Every country does stuff more or less different, its not all just "europe has universal health care." Some combine private and public, some supplement either with government plans etc. Thats the common misconception that people always say when against healthcare, they never really do research again, they only say what people tell them to.

the european union nations pay 80% or more of their wages to the state. look it up if you dont believe me. and most of that is to pay for healthcare. the rest gos to welfare and national defense. where as here in america 33% of our meager taxes gos to national defense. whats more important? keeping the sick and addicted in drugs or keeping our borders secure? if you say anything other than keeping our borders secure you are a card carrying commie.

Ok you're still looking at europe as one country, which it isn't you're using the word state inconsistantly. Every country in europe has an indivdual constitution which is their constitution and thats it. A state (as in a subsidiary dominion within USA's federal government) constitution can only say things that the US constitution agrees with as it is the supreme law of the land. Now you assumed wrong that I want big government, which I do not at all. I think USA should be smaller actually.

under the constitution the federal govt ONLY has the right to levy troops and make regular trade between the states...and that is absolutely it. and before you say "well what about roads?" again that is under regulating trade between the states. the rest is up to the individual states which means that each and every state could have vastly differing laws and each state has their own constitutions which TRUMP federal law. you have america and the european union backwards.

And also, I'm doing research and its hard to find rhetoric on europe's total or average taxation compared to the US on how they pay for healthcare because like I thought, it varies from country to country and there are no blanket statements that applies to all of europe. I don't own a firearm though, but I do plan to, but I have a shitty city ordinance that bans handgun sells in chicago. You're assuming an awful lot which is a diversion tactic to get off subject but whatever I'm done.

actually you MAY be able to own a firearm in chicago because of the washington d.c. lifting of firearm restrictions...however unfortunately if local govt gos against it they are within their constitutional rights to do so...even if i dont agree with it i would have to side with the local govts decision...but YOU could vote for it and if enuff of your neighbors agreed you could get your gun rights back. good luck citizen

This is one of the most ridiculous and naive points of view that I've ever heard. You have to "pay to play..." EXACTLY! Be responsible for yourself and expect the same of others. You say health insurance is exorbitant, whayt would you call 50% plus in taxes (that's what it is if you add up income, sin, property, fuel, etc. taxes)? As far as helping others... It makes me feel good when I do it VOLUNTARILY but taken advantage of when I'm forced. Personal responsibility and charity are key!
