@NickNoRtHeRnLiGhTs I carry on here. Once you play a drum set with well tuned Ambassadors, Diplomats or Evans G1 (all one layer heads) you'll love them for life. I turned crazy, but managed to make coated ambassadors to sound well on a very cheap kit and I was very happy with the results until I got a better kit. Pinstripes are only for very thick shells and long toms which throw too many harmonics, like all 80's and 90's drums. Just listen to Beauford and Aldrige and tell me whose got the best!

When you play on them you're listening mostly to the head and not the drum. They do not leave harmonics to come out and don't allow dinamic playing. They are attractive when you start playing because of their ease of tuning and can make a 100$ kit sound ok, but they are not for decent drum sets
