I'm sure it's a great vehicle but I'm not impressed with the "stretched and blurred" lines on the exterior. I like a Jeep to be recognizable as a Jeep. This edition of the Grand Cherokee looks like every other mid-sized SUV on the road. [And, yes, for you purists out there I know that only the Wrangler has the "real" Jeep look.] In short, I love what they've done to enhance performance and comfort but I wish they'd go back to the square look again. I'm sure they will next time.

I tell you, the V6 was so smooth and silky, and it was paired up with a very fine transmission.
But, the V8 stole my heart-ok, sure it weighs alot and it's not really meant to smoke powerful vehicles. But, the acceleration and the sound of the was more satisfying.
America doesnt seem to be learing from mistakes...Where is diesel version of this??? Gas is no longer everyday fuel!!! Besides the the style looks so ugly it resembles X5! 1997 design was the ultimate one. i wish they would listen to customers, idiots.
jeep will never go away because while other companies are focusing on making city cars, jeep is making cars capable of going through extremely rough terrain without falling apart.. you can have your FWD hybrid but ill have the last laugh when I'm flying by in 18 inches of snow & your stuck in your garage.. long live jeep
@mellowdalyricist You previously said that Jeeps can go through extremely rough terrain without falling apart, but I posted videos that prove that the Jeep Grand Cherokee is unreliable and unsafe. Take a look at this video titled, "Jeep Grand Cherokee 2005 Hemi Recall Door Panel Issue," at this link:
/watch?v=QsFrZ7CIBkY
The door handles break off, and Chrysler will only cover 50% of the $2,000 repair.
Consumer Reports states that it has poor reliability, high depreciation, and high owner costs.
@TranCendenZ your comment doesn't prove anything kid. i used to have a 06 grand cherokee lift kit + big tires that i used to crawl mountains in, i could tow 2 , 3 cars at a time, tow cars stuck in snow, shovel snow & drive 90 mph in 9 inches of snow.
if thats not reliability then i dont know what is!
you really think a f**king door panel is going to keep me from loving jeeps? every car has flaws, my friend has a 2000 c class amg that always has the god damned check engine light on! jeep #1
@mellowdalyricist Did you even watch any of the videos that I posted links to? Look at this video titled, "My 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee after electrical fire," at this link:
/watch?v=5wet5pbIbhU
If he parked his Jeep in the garage, it could have caught his house on fire and killed his family.
If I spend over $30K for a vehicle, then it's a reasonable expectation that the door handles work so that I can quickly exit the vehicle when it bursts into flames because of the faulty wiring.
yea i saw the videos, i just dont understand why youre showing them to me, because youre not proving anything, at all. fast lane daily once reported on a man who bought a lamborghini murcielago that was a lemon. ford windstars rear differentals often break at high speeds on the highway. i just bought a 07 civic si & the 3rd gear synchromesh isnt working properly, not a big deal, dealership wil fix that, want more examples? all cars have flaws so stfu GC are great vehicles.
Few of the American vehicles that is worthy of respect. A truly great off-roader and strong body on frame design. I hope they make a bigger variation in the future.
@Blitz4000 Ur a douche bag there are A LOT of American cars that are honestly built better then foreign ones now. I mean just look at Honda delaying the new civic 2 years because of a MAJOR design flaw. Or Toyota with their accelerator problems and the engines just stalling out while your driving. They are now how American cars used to be.
I'm just saying, now that the Hummer "H1" is gone, the Grand Cherokee is the "only" American vehicle that is worthy to be respected "globally". The rest of the American cars are just crappy and stupid.
@Blitz4000 Not entirely true, there are some good cars made in the US. A few that come to mind are the Ford Fiesta and '11 Mustang, Corvette, Cadillac CTS-V, Chrysler 300 SRT8, Ford GT... and a few others come to mind. The Ford Focus seems to be doing well. Don't know much about that car but I've heard some good things through word of mouth. It all depends on your personal taste, needs, and how much you can spend.
I've got a 2000 JGC WJ. Frankly I wouldn't want to get rid of it for a 2005 or newer Jeep. Why? Because the newer Jeep's did a trade off for worse reliability by putting in a weak 3.7 liter van motor in place of the famous 4.0 straight 6. That's why I have, the best setup, 4.0 straight 6. I do like the other stuff about the Jeep's but the Jeep is starting to look off base. Too luxurious looking. They need to stop trying to appeal to yuppies & keep their true fan base happy.
@IROCwarriorAMC88 i have a 06 wk and i love it.. i could take it on a rough trail, clean it up and take it for a night on the town.. i like that this new jeep already comes with a (adjustable) 4.5in lift, so that i wont have to go out and spend 1500 on a kit =]
im a college student, working hard, poor as hell. im half way through college n through my efforts i bought a 2004 4x4 Laredo Cherokee. i love it so much. once im done with college n settled in my profession. im going for another jeep.
they're good but...... gotta say the pre 96' zj was the best mechanically, with three bad ass engine options! It was the fastest suv of it's time, plus it can off road with any thing else out there!

....no they dont. the 4.0 6 Cylinder goes on forever and the 4.7 V8 is just as good, mines at 120K NO problems. But I have had problems with the electronics inside (pedal adjust ,ac vents got stuck)
WHOW! does this car cost less than a Range rover? And just look at that exterior. The previous model looked a bit fat but this is just something. Then theres the interior, I think there is still a plasticky feel but I dont care i mean, Landcruisers also have plastic so why bother as long as it is a nice place to sit in. Dont forget the "YOU CONNECT WEB" where you can turn the car into a WIFI hotspot. Jeep has something to innovate for the first time yay!
good comment i thought the same exact thing. it is an excellent overall shape and road stance. just needs to have the headlights a bit more large to come down the bumper more. but still it is pretty fresh
@2gr6rydar I totally agree about the headlights. Need to make it more like the Acadia where part of the headlight extends down towards the bumper more. The way they are now looks a bit whimpy. They look like the new Tribeca headlights which I also think look plain as well. Maybe the 2012 model they will upgrade it. I really like the look of the updated Jeep but I really hope they didn't overprice it and loose a lot of customers. I can't imagine the base model Laredo being over 30K.

By 2011, toyota and honda would have better looking SUV's. They take too long to bring nice cars to the market. That design has been in Chrysler hands for a long time now. Just now, they decide to bring to reality.
Doesn't really look like a jeep anymore, they have lost all roots. I liked the older models that looked very off roadish, this one doesnt. Wonder what the differences are in the 3 different types of 4 wheel drive.
it looks like an acura. i have a 98 grand cherokee and i feel that was the best design hands down. what happened to the ruggedness jeep used to have? i don't like the styling at all. the ZJ and WJ grand cherokees looked the best. now they look too soccer mom-ish
however the 4WD systems they offer are pretty cool. switching from sand/mud to rock crawling, that is pretty awesome.
jeep grand cherokee is better faster and stronger than toyota land cruiser and can beat it in anychallenge (off roading-drag racing-etc)
