People, just be thankful they're not messing with the game mechanics or the story! We all know that the retro style was part of the original game's charm, but a lot of younger kids these days will look at the oversized pixels and refuse to play the game, regardless of how good it is. That was the whole point of making this game; to allow them to enjoy it as well! Oh, and besides, if you don't like the new art style, it even has an option to use the old character sprites just for you!

Yeah I'm not liking the look either. There was something about the pixellation that gave Cave Story its incredible charm. The transition to 3D would probably have been better if it was done in such a way that it more resembles anime, as the original concept art is like that.

That's what a teaser is for, to tease people into wanting to really see more. It's not a "trailer" as such in that regard, but it shows off something.

@sanitysanitation To be honest, I haven't finished the game, and I don't quite remember where you're supposed to go to rescue Curly. And I don't really classify it as a 'deep' story because overall the game only gives a small amount of history, and when looking more around the internet, there really isn't that much of a history for it that has been currently written. But don't get me wrong, I loved the story no matter how sad it was.

@TheRealBitterbub You leave professor booster to die when he falls down the labyrinth instead of rescuing him. That lets you get the Booster 2.0 and enables the tow rope in the core room (BEFORE it floods).

Then you can take her through the water current level where you find the resting room with the manual on how to drain flooded robots. Learn it and drain her (that way she won't die on you after you beat the fish boss and you'll be able to find her again in the doctor's mimiga village).

I am a big fan of Cave Story... And I am grateful to Nicalis for making it available on DSiware and Wiiware...

But I am greatly concerned about the 3D version they are making... From what I've seen so far, it's losing the charm it had in the pixel sprite look in the translation into the 3D world...

I hope they work with more capable art team that can do a good job on giving it a worthy look and feel that works on 3D format...
