@stap0510 ....and the economic experts have said that things would have been much worse were it not for his policies. As well, we were on a fast downward spiral, tough to turn that completely around in one term. Here's some more information for you: The economic downturn during Bush's administration wasn't all his fault and the economic recovery since can't all be credited to Obama. That being said were you against Bush's bailouts?
Americans were flabberghasted at Bush's reelection. I think 2000-2008 can best be described as "shellshocked." Life suddenly reverted to a nightmare. The power of fascism is in its ability to shock and awe, to blitz through those are who not paying full attention or who trust in the sanctity of traditional political systems.
@stap0510 Oh we'll be living Bush's fucked up mess for a long time. Sorry, all that death and debt for the profit of a few isn't so easily forgiven. Send my brother to war to get rich, you deserve to be reviled. And Bush lost the popular vote in his first election. I'll give you one point, the fact that Democrats were so cocky that they didn't both to turn up in 2004 is reason why 2008 started. I don't think anybody believed any of that fascist bullshit was actually happening.
@stap0510 Speaking as an American, WE were flabbergasted at both Bush's 1st and 2nd "election". Most Americans were surprised and disappointed on both occasions. Racism is alive and well in America as it is everywhere else. It's just not on the surface. The ONLY way a black man was elected president of our country was because after Bush... ANYONE else as president was a huge relief. Don't judge us by our leaders. We don't always agree with them. In fact, we usually don't.
Ah, nice. Still, Bush made the USA a Pariah, but Obama made the USA a Pussy. What's worse? I mean, look at Israel literally peeing on the US' plan for the near east. Would they ever have dared biting the hand that feeds them before? Not even under Jimmy Carter...
@forgotmyoldlogins Obama has defeated Osama and Ghaddafy. Two things that both Bush and Reagan respectively couldn't achieve. If Obama is a "pussy", then Bush and Reagan are pussy flaps.
@priorzola How do we know he defeated Bin Laden? Don't you find it suspicious that they sunk his body in the sea immediately afterwards? And as for Ghaddafy, it was the combined effort of the EU and US, not No-Mama alone.
@DrStrangebomb1993 Seen any Osama videos lately? Did you see the pics of his dead body? Do you think that the Seals that killed him are lying democrats? To be honest, there's no way that all the credit should go to Obama of course, events had been unfolding for some time but it is certainly clear, from Bush's own statements, that Osama wasn't a priority for the Bush administration. They would rather he still be alive so they can have their boogeyman to scare the witless with.
@Mendrys Don't you find it suspicious that this amazing thing happened JUST AFTER THE DISASTROUS MIDTERM ELECTIONS? If not, then I guess you're an ideal democrats' sheep. Keep up bleating "O-baaa-ma" in that case.
So, here we are 3 years into Obams term. Insted of being the Village Idiot, we're being led by the Village Idiot. Get off the short bus, America, and vote that clown out next year.
@smokndarasta It's been indoctrinated into British minds since we kicked them out in 1776. That doesn't mean that Johnny's not making perfect sense, which he is.
John Cleese is a great man, but I dont see how Obama did "change" the US, he did not live up to his promise, nowhere near, and never will, just another puppet, its laughable when you think about the inauguration concert party with U2, Beyonce, Shakira ect...what an anticlimax
@wargasm58 It helps to take a long view. When he was born black people couldn't even VOTE in certain southern states, and now one is president. It may be cold comfort to people struggling with economic crisis, etc., but society changes very slowly.
@wargasm58 He didn't change the US but he was a symbol of the change that had already taken place. That said, you are correct he is a puppet, probably just there to make it look like they have some hope. Which they don't.
@wargasm58 I'm watching this and I'm remembering the resentment across the whole world for the American government *note I said government, not culture. Obama changed that whole view overnight. You don't know how much conflict might now be saved. He's an intelligent man, unfortunately now the Republicans are blocking his legislation so he can't change anything.
it's heavily cut. you can't even pretend to believe he actually said that about Murdoch, when it's so cut. the could've been talking about Scooby doo...
I missed that election Cleese won for World Spokesman. It's gratifying though that we did take his advice and elect Obama. We have vindicated ourselves in the court of world opinion and are no longer considered a backward, redneck, racist country. Al it cost us was more of our personal liberties and our entire economy. I can't wait to see what prize we win from "the world" if we are enlightened enough to re-elect him.
A contingent of U.S. soldiers has accompanied the air-defense system to an installation at Morag, which stands 37 miles from the Kaliningrad region in Russia. The soldiers are expected to provide training to Polish military personnel on using the Patriot system. -------
The battery is expected to remain in Poland for one-month periods four times per year, along with about 150 U.S. soldiers, Reuters reported.
Deployments would continue for two years, AP reported.
Bush was not half as bad as everyone thought he was. The problem is Europeans have never gotten away from there monarchy mentality. They think the sophisticated, healthiest, richest, and morally better person should lead. America has a bottom up society rather than a top down societal structure. We believe that the president will come from the public. This of course is a great source of annoyance to our friends across the pond. Ironically America's biggest problems came from our "best" thinkers.
@ClassicallyEducated What do you mean bottom up society? Bush was the son of a previous president! Also monarchy doesn't mean the best people lead as you suggest, but the exact opposite. In a bottom up society, the best people should rise to the top through merit and then lead because they deserve to. In a monarchy, the son of the previous leader is in charge even if he's an idiot. Whereas in America...
Obama isn't superman he cant fix everything that Bush messed up. Americans should give a chance and not blame him, Blame youselfs for voting for Bush TWICE!!!
@MrCharliesay Obama hasnt fixed ANYTHING, that "Bush" (lololololol, idiot) messed up, he's just made things worse, my only regret is that Bush didnt get elected a 3rd time
@ragingbull191 No wonder america has lost all its power. Voting for a Drunk, Texan retard twice and then some brain damaged yokels still want him back. "Now watch this drive"
@ragingbull191 I think you should look at the list of FACTS that both presidents have done during their time in office....It's quite interesting that Obama in just a few years have done more positive than ol' George the second has in 8 years...I look at things in a fair since. And looking at JUST the FACTS they speak for themselves...
@rellybaby172k4 The FACTS show that Obama has done nothing at all to improve anything "Bush" messed up, only that, quite contrarily, he has simply made things worse..4 years down the tubes, potentially 8, and America right on the path to complete and utter disaster thanks to Ape Man in the White House
@ragingbull191 you know I was going to get into a healthy debate with yo and actually discuss the FACTS about what Obama HAS done and how he's been spending most of his time cleaning up after Bush. But since you used the term "Ape Man" I can see that I am talking to an ignorant and unbelievably immature imbecile. "Ape Man"? Really? Can you be anymore ridiculous? Wow..this country is going to hell because of people like you which are the exact people that Cleese mentions in the video.
@rellybaby172k4 nice try, but the cop out is all too apparent. your lecture did little to disguise the fact that you dont have any FACTS to prove your idiotic point..the only reason this country still exists is because of people like me who refuse to yield to the sycophants, leeches, and anarchists like yourself, Mr. Cleese, and the President
@ragingbull191 well my young moron I am glad you replied because it further proves your ignorance. There was no "cop out" involved. I didn't feel that there was a reason to reply to your absolute ignorance BUT since you decided to keep the party going I decided to bring beer. Since I couldn't post it here because of Error Messages I sent it to your page...enjoy and let me know if you need more.
@ragingbull191 well it seems since YouTube SDK doesn't allow multiple links being attached AND I'd have to subscribe or friend you to actually prove my point I realize that I'd be doing too much work for someone I dont know, don't care about, and even if in the end I win this debate with an idiot ( which is redundant within itself ), you being an idiot still would not learn anything nor would you actually accept the facts. So with that it was fun.
@rellybaby172k4 and yet you still subscribed to me....look, if you presented me with real facts that backed your point I would have no choice to accept what you say as truth but all you have done is dodge and cloud the issue. very well, flee from conflict and enjoy your miserable excuse for a life you anti-democratic bloodsucker
and to further my point if you want to go down the road of name calling like a grade schooler there's a reason why Bush the second was compared to an ape and not Obama. But trying to explain anything of intellectual or even remotely accurate evidence to someone who refers to people as "Ape Men" will get lost soon in translation. Your ignorance completely proves not only everything mentioned in the video but kills your argument by a long shot.
Just because GWBush was a bad president and a stupid man does not mean B Obama is not also a terrible President and dim. If Obama had followed Clinton or Reagan he would look even worse. Clearly you Americans know nothing about debating. Because A is bad that in no way means B is better. Carter GWBush and Obama are all stageringly bad leaders.
@dkevinpearson I agree with what appears to be your main argument: that Obama should be judged on his own merits, or lack thereof, rather than compared to Bush. You shat in your pudding, however, with your bigoted "you Americans" generalization. You Brits just can't avoid taking a slap at us can you? Must be the result of a lifetime spent eating terrible food.
@GrouchoLenin Dude, what the FUCK? Instead of defending Americans, you try to resort to a stereotyped insult aimed towards the person who took a slap at you?
Considering 'Americans' are technically also from Canada, South and Central America, it's ridiculous of you to 'defend' a (bad) broad generalisation by using another (bad) broad generalisation. It leads to another stereotype, that 'Americans are arrogant, uneducated, pompous fools', becoming reinforced. Don't stoop to a lower level.
I see a lot of people are slating Obama for not being able to fix the crap Bush got them into which I see republicans are trying to screw up again. One thing you have to agree with Cleese is Americans are really really stupid.
Cleese and MP were brilliant comedians, but he thinks the world will like the USA better because we elected an incompetent man as President just because he is black is insane. Perhaps now that we are broke the EU looks better by comparison.
@dkevinpearson And George W. Bush Jr. was so f*cking "competent", right? D'you have any idea what you're saying? GWB was a worldwide JOKE, with so many pics showing him in awkward situations. I don't even mention the state he brought the USA to... And 9/11 is a separate story.
when was george bush sr. head of the secret service. hopefully not when he was president. but some whacko leftwinger might say he was in charge of the secret service when jfk was president. some people believe that im not making that up. that stupid mistake he made about ghwb being ahead of the us secret service made everything else he said sound stupid. and yes i do now ghwb was cia director under president ford in 1976
@lettertee1 The UK's version of the CIA is the "Secret Service". So when he says Secret Service he is talking about the U.S.'s CIA, not the actual U.S. Secret Service.
@inkey2 There are black MPs, they can come forward if they want, they just haven't.
Also, you seem to be forgetting that black people only account for 2% of the UKs population, the chances of their being a suitable candidate are slim.
'it can be fixed like that by electing Obama because it indictaes that this is not fundamentally a racist society'
so what John Cleese is saying is basically what I thought all along, the ONLY reason Obama was elected was because he was black which, in my opinion, is fundamentally racist itself. Is it just me who sees this as a totally inappropriate way to elect the most powerful man in the western world?
Wow I just came back to watch this video again, it's good to cleanse the brain with this after hearing Sarah Palin talk, and noticed my comment above has 93 likes(as of now). It fills my heart with joy to know that there are at least 94 of us who aren't utter nutters. "Utter nutters" is fun to say :)
take what he says in context. This is BEFORE obama was elected, coming from a foreign citizen, viewing the US as a foreign affair, after many years in war. I would probably have the same view, and this is coming from a Libertarian.
Why is it "so very important" that Obama would be elected? I wish I had about five minutes alone with Mr. Cleese to ask him this. Of course, that will never happen. Even Gene Simmons wants his vote back (sorry, Gene, deal with it). Baden has been preparing? Preparing for what?
I have to disagree on the subject of Joe Biden, left to answer questions on his own Joe is generally a gibbering idiot. Otherwise John is on the nail.
Too bad Obama giving a toast-speech during "God Save the Queen" was a bit of a village idiot moment as well... is it too much to ask for a decent politician in office, or is that an oxymoron?
Why can't everyone be more like Cleese as in political views and common sense? There are very few people like him, and even fewer that stands up to speak out.
God bless your soul John, and may british humor live on!
@Unitronus You mean people who bash Bush, Palin and Fox News? Well... Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Bill Maher, Chris Matthews, Matt Damon, Sean Penn, Dennis Leary, Ed Byrne, Rich Hall, Larry King, Penn Jillette, Raymond Teller, Jon Stewart, Jay Leno, David Letterman, Colbert (in his way), Christopher Hitchens, Stephen Fry, Robert Greenwald, Tim Michin, "The young Turks", Russel Howard, ..... There're plenty of people out there who says all this. I think the truth is pretty much out there now?
@ulkien Ok, you have made your point. But I'm not going to go into another political discussion, it's a waste of time. I'm just going to say that the list of people/politicians/celebrities that you've made of those who are "like Cleese" is only a small fraction compared to what everyone else thinks in america. Seriously, I've met alot of dumb people who watch and believe everything that Fox News says as well as those decieving politicians.
@Unitronus I love you, for liking and appreciating John so much!)))) He's certainly a remarkable man. I respect him eternally for everything he's done!! Long live John Cleese!
Another clueless liberal. It pains me to hear John be so wrong-headed, since I'm a fan of Monty Python, Fawlty Towers.. etc. He needs to lay off watching Chris Matthews. Hell, who watches MSNBC anyway- judging from the ratings..
Hah here it is 2011 and now you are shown to be a total idiot still. I really do not see what difference some non citizen dipshits opinion of American politcs makes. Hows that old economy going back home Johnie? Much less well now that your choice Barracula has sucked the life out of the American economy and no pennies are left to fall into the royal coffers.
@DizziNY1 no, its just not having the time to memerize a speech because hes well, you know, running a country and whatnot, but thats not important eh? no its not, he should memorize all his speeches, fixing jobs & debt? nawww, what a terrible thing do to right?
you make me sick to my stomach, and ashamed to be american
@DizziNY1 you try memorizing a 15-30 minute speech in one sitting when you have the unabiding responsibilities of the world resting on your shoulders. listen, ALL POLITICIANS USE TELEPROMPTERS WHEN MAKING SPEECHES. and before teleprompters they read their speeches from the paper it was written on. don't be so daft.
@DizziNY1 are you one of those people that think the world is run by sinister Jews, or are you one of the people that think the world is run by some combination of sinister Europeans/communists? I ask because I've run into both on the cesspit that is the youtube comment feature. By the way... um... you may not know this, but back in the day, Reagan used note cards for his speeches. he also claimed to have seen UFO's which puts him in the same category as Kucinich, (completely insane.)
@usamachinist What he was saying is that Obama would improve the USA's image abroad, which he has definately done (from a European perspective). Granted, he hasn't been the president many hoped he would be, but at least he hasn't started world war three by bombing Iran, which is what McCain would have done.
@quanmandetil the intelligent kind? the kind that actually thinks for himself instead of following blindly every little thing liberal "news" channels spew out? yes fox is biased and crap as well, but like typical liberals, you and cleese fail to see that all channels are biased, you sir, have a mental disease, called liberalism, now, when you actually can think for yourself, then talk to me, you sheep
@lsisoccer5 A sheep who doesn't think he's a sheep is still a sheep. He can tell himself differently all day, but in the end he's gonna get sheared. I just hope you like your haircut after they're done.
@SWalkerTTU lol good one, really intelligent, how long did it take you to think of that, im not a sheep, obv. unlike you, just keep tuning into cnn you liberal twat, its ok if you have no thoughts of your own, its not like you even matter in this world or help anybody/thing
@lsisoccer5 It actually only took about 5 seconds to think of it. It was that obvious. Also, if you think YOU personally matter much in this world, you're even more sorely mistaken than I had previously thought. And by the way, I'm a teacher of mathematics. I do something that does matter, even if only in a small way.
@SWalkerTTU please, youre making 0 difference, math plz, im going for my doctorate in medicine or veterinary sciences where there are actually advances in, unlike math at your level, what do you teach? 2nd grade math congrats! and bud this is youtube, idc about my punctuation, etc. on here, especially since i just got done studying calculus lol
@lsisoccer5 I teach high school math, which goes up to Calculus I. Medicine OR veterinary sciences? Can't decide which set of dumb animals you'd like to work on, eh? Personally, I don't think I'd trust you if I had a parrot -- else I'd end up with an ex-parrot. As regards your punctuation, you're definitely mentally lazy, then. Maybe not completely uneducated, seeing as you got into college -- though I guess that depends on what college took you in. Speaking of which, what was your SAT?
@SWalkerTTU lol good comeback w..which dumb animals i want to work with, but hey animals arent that dumb, and in medicine id be working with intelligent ppl, unlike you, kids are getting dumber and dumber, i feel bad for you. and no not lazy, i just dont care, obviously you take yourself too seriously
@lsisoccer5 Anybody can claim they're a doctor, or getting their doctorate over the internet. Judging by the pettiness of your arguments, I gather that, regardless of how old you are or not, you aren't mentally passed high school. If a sad piece of work like yourself is truly able to get a doctorate in medicine, then I have to say that is frightening. You talk about kids getting stupider, well kids turn into adults, and clearly you're one of the stupid kids who reached his 20s
@ryan332007 true, anyone can claim anything, however, how are my arguments petty? what's pathetic and so unintelligent are the people who have beliefs like this, especially about obama, they are sheep that follow whatever the liberal media says. please, keep your trap shut, and by judging your profile i can tell youre an uneducated or at least lacking common sense, douche-bag
You not realizing that over 2 million jobs were created by the Obama team within recent months and that the DAMAGE to the economy, the CAUSE of it all, was the Bush team...priceless. LOL indeed...
hahaha Obama was such a brilliant "swing of the pendulum" from Bush, so predictable. Poor John fell for it too. You'd think the man wouldn't be such a sheep.
I like how Obama is perpetuating the same agenda as Bush, in an appealing globalist approved costume. It's almost re-election time. Do people see a common thread yet!??!
No one can fix anything "just like that" problems your society and other societies in the world have can not be fixed "just like that". It was important for Obama to win.
@esperanza0265 I don't think thats a fare thing to say. I mean so long as people want to be free to do what they want with their lives then problems like poverty and others will take a long time to solve.
Sooo..he's saying that electing Obama was good because we had to show people we aren't backwoods rednecks..thats the dumbest reason to elect a president I've ever heard..
@Verto9999 hahaha I didn't say thats all he said,or all I heard, but he did say it..and I don't see how thinking that race should not determine you're success or failure is "Backwoods Redneck" thinking..
Look people hear is the thing: if u aren't president or have never been president ( 100% of all of you most likely) then obviously you shouldn't be complaining about the job president Obama is doing. The fact is if you think you could do a better job as president than you would be president but oh yeah thats right none of you idiots are president so don't talk crap about about somebody who is president when you obviously aren't even good enough to become president.
There are so many morons commenting on this video. So many sheep. Oh lord, if only you idiots knew what the world thought of you. You would hang your pathetic heads. You have no idea how many jokes have you lovable morons as a punchline. I knew you would eventually blame Obama for problems that were not his fault. I know you would overlook every good thing he did. Realize this, the rest of the world hates your country, but it sees Obama as your only shining light.
@gustavokov He's shocked because he never saw what America exports used domestically, It's such a bloody rot, they are taking Obama seriously. And you are offended because he's right, that is what South America is really like. I'm Chilean by the way. : )
@gustavokov but it's not really that much of a secret that in most states in south america, corruption is way more spread than in Europe oder the US, isn't it? I don't think he wanted be mean in some way, it's just a fact. There are many, many honest Brazilians, dude. Don't worry about it.
@Roflcopter4b 1. Socialism is not a good thing. It destroys wealth and diminishes individual freedom. 2. He cannot create jobs by magically spending public money. That does not make any sense. Unemployment is worse under him than it has been under any president since FDR. And if you blame either some supposed market failure or Bush for everything that is happening right now I am not going to spend any more of my time on you.
@Wormtail81 Then explain to me why socialist countries are the happiest? Explain why while your schools are failing miserably, ours are leading the world, and they're socialist? It is a statistical fact that Obama has created jobs. You can't dispute that. He has inherited quite the situation in your country. Not just from Bush as people like to scapegoat, but from years and years of ridiculous spending in your country. I don't think anyone could have possibly done any better than he has.
lol where are you getting that ridiculous propaganda from? Some state media source?! I mean, you're a Canadian for Christ sakes. Your country is already and always has been meaningless.
@bruceisdaman1001 What propaganda? Define meaningfulness. In terms of wealth relative to population, Canada is meaningful. In terms of the happiness of its people, Canada is meaningful. What else is there? Number of guns? Pah. Begone. I've no propaganda.
@shadowgeyser: actually, the major detriments started during reagan's time - even his own economics advisor admitted to it.
if u havent seen the dems in congress protesting & angry at the repugs for their calls to increase deficit, esp. anthony weiner & alan grayson, then ur not up to speed.
mcconnell said his only goal is to make sure nothing passes that will help the president in terms of economy et al.
@shadowgeyser: the rich didnt need higher, larger tax cuts. thus they were unnecessary.
to say "he still cut taxes for everyone" when giving a pittance tax cut to middle/low income in comparison to the rich's tax cuts is insulting. it's like saying "well, we'll give a huge slice of cake to the rich but throw crumbs at the middle/low income so we can say "we still gave cake to everyone.""
@shadowgeyser: tax dollars are supposed to help create jobs in private & public sector. in the priv. sector over 1.8 million in last 13 months.
afghan war plan scheduled for final troop pullout in 2014 w/ iraqi schedule by end of this yr in addition to previous major reduction made 8/2010.
the reason why it's referred to tax cuts for the rich is that they're the ones who are the unnecessary major beneficiaries w/ the middle/low income only getting minor cuts in comparison.
@shadowgeyser: actually, the cuts favored the top income more so than the lower income. the rich saved far more money by $ amt & % individually than those in the middle/low income.
& it's not just income tax but also capital gains tax that bush cut so that multi-millionaire/billionaire hedge fund mgrs & others who rely on this type of income for their wealth pay only about 15% compared to working class' 35% tax rate.
so if u were honest, u'd admit that the repugs favor tax cuts for the wealthy
@shadowgeyser: continued... also remember that bush increased size of govt bigger than any other time in history as well as creating the largest deficit up to that point, whilst giving trillion$ in tax cuts to rich & corp.s.
if u took an honest look at history & overall big picture, then u'd see what we are trying to do now: fix what got royally f*cked up by bush/cheney/repugs
yeah, it's expanding cuz it takes time to fix 8 f*cked up yrs of destroying our economy w/ unpaid for wars & other programs. the interest amt increases, tax cuts were reduced for the rich & corp.s as well as repugs still voting in and/or keeping tax breaks for the corps. ex: GE & exxon paying $0 in fed taxes w/ repugs pushing for more subsidies for oil industry, etc.
also, bush made it impossible to pull out of 2 expensive wars instantaneously.

Facts:
Obama has been in office for quitte some years, and began his first 2 years with a democratic supermajority in Congress.
Even then it was hard for that clown to pass through legislation that attacks the middle class.
Youth unemployment has never been this high in decades.
The economy is in bad shape. And all Obama does is bailouts and printing more money.
Ooh, and being busy with his re-election of course.

@leakyspacesuit
So where exactly is ALL THAT racism?
I saw some of it when Americans voted in '08 for a candidate whose policies they didn't really know.
Except for the hollow "hope" and "change" mantra/rhetoric.
That and the fact that he was black, as mentioned by numerous voters.
If you're talking about racism then that's your clearest example of it.
I still have that mental picture of people crying because a black man got elected.
Policies? What policies? Skin color is what counts to some

You can't take criticism about Obama and liberals in general.
And by being so extremly selective you show to be nothing less than Obama's little poster boy.
You would fit right in the OWS-crowd, with the rest of those morons.
So of course you would agree with Cleese.

@forgotmyoldlogins Obama has defeated Osama and Ghaddafy. Two things that both Bush and Reagan respectively couldn't achieve. If Obama is a "pussy", then Bush and Reagan are pussy flaps.
priorzola 3 months ago 14
@priorzola How do we know he defeated Bin Laden? Don't you find it suspicious that they sunk his body in the sea immediately afterwards? And as for Ghaddafy, it was the combined effort of the EU and US, not No-Mama alone.
DrStrangebomb1993 2 months ago
@DrStrangebomb1993 Seen any Osama videos lately? Did you see the pics of his dead body? Do you think that the Seals that killed him are lying democrats? To be honest, there's no way that all the credit should go to Obama of course, events had been unfolding for some time but it is certainly clear, from Bush's own statements, that Osama wasn't a priority for the Bush administration. They would rather he still be alive so they can have their boogeyman to scare the witless with.

John Cleese is a great man, but I dont see how Obama did "change" the US, he did not live up to his promise, nowhere near, and never will, just another puppet, its laughable when you think about the inauguration concert party with U2, Beyonce, Shakira ect...what an anticlimax
wargasm58 4 months ago
@wargasm58 It helps to take a long view. When he was born black people couldn't even VOTE in certain southern states, and now one is president. It may be cold comfort to people struggling with economic crisis, etc., but society changes very slowly.

@squamish4244 your right, good point.
wargasm58 4 months ago
@wargasm58 He didn't change the US but he was a symbol of the change that had already taken place. That said, you are correct he is a puppet, probably just there to make it look like they have some hope. Which they don't.

@wargasm58 I'm watching this and I'm remembering the resentment across the whole world for the American government *note I said government, not culture. Obama changed that whole view overnight.

ClassicallyEducated 5 months ago
@ClassicallyEducated What do you mean bottom up society? Bush was the son of a previous president! Also monarchy doesn't mean the best people lead as you suggest, but the exact opposite. In a bottom up society, the best people should rise to the top through merit and then lead because they deserve to. In a monarchy, the son of the previous leader is in charge even if he's an idiot. Whereas in America...

MrCharliesay 5 months ago 3
@ragingbull191 I think you should look at the list of FACTS that both presidents have done during their time in office....It's quite interesting that Obama in just a few years have done more positive than ol' George the second has in 8 years...I look at things in a fair since. And looking at JUST the FACTS they speak for themselves...
rellybaby172k4 5 months ago
@rellybaby172k4 The FACTS show that Obama has done nothing at all to improve anything "Bush" messed up, only that, quite contrarily, he has simply made things worse..4 years down the tubes, potentially 8, and America right on the path to complete and utter disaster thanks to Ape Man in the White House
ragingbull191 5 months ago
@ragingbull191 Then you need to find some actual facts.
UncleMilo 5 months ago 2
@UncleMilo go ahead and list your "facts" that give creedance to Obama's phantom success
ragingbull191 5 months ago
@ragingbull191 you know I was going to get into a healthy debate with yo and actually discuss the FACTS about what Obama HAS done and how he's been spending most of his time cleaning up after Bush. But since you used the term "Ape Man" I can see that I am talking to an ignorant and unbelievably immature imbecile. "Ape Man"? Really? Can you be anymore ridiculous? Wow..this country is going to hell because of people like you which are the exact people that Cleese mentions in the video.
rellybaby172k4 5 months ago
@rellybaby172k4 nice try, but the cop out is all too apparent. your lecture did little to disguise the fact that you dont have any FACTS to prove your idiotic point..the only reason this country still exists is because of people like me who refuse to yield to the sycophants, leeches, and anarchists like yourself, Mr. Cleese, and the President
ragingbull191 5 months ago
@ragingbull191 well my young moron I am glad you replied because it further proves your ignorance. There was no "cop out" involved. I didn't feel that there was a reason to reply to your absolute ignorance BUT since you decided to keep the party going I decided to bring beer. Since I couldn't post it here because of Error Messages I sent it to your page...enjoy and let me know if you need more.
rellybaby172k4 5 months ago
@rellybaby172k4 this would all be quite wonderful if I had actually gotten anything from you
ragingbull191 5 months ago
@ragingbull191 well it seems since YouTube SDK doesn't allow multiple links being attached AND I'd have to subscribe or friend you to actually prove my point I realize that I'd be doing too much work for someone I dont know, don't care about, and even if in the end I win this debate with an idiot ( which is redundant within itself ), you being an idiot still would not learn anything nor would you actually accept the facts. So with that it was fun.
rellybaby172k4 5 months ago
@rellybaby172k4 and yet you still subscribed to me....look, if you presented me with real facts that backed your point I would have no choice to accept what you say as truth but all you have done is dodge and cloud the issue. very well, flee from conflict and enjoy your miserable excuse for a life you anti-democratic bloodsucker
ragingbull191 5 months ago
and to further my point if you want to go down the road of name calling like a grade schooler there's a reason why Bush the second was compared to an ape and not Obama. But trying to explain anything of intellectual or even remotely accurate evidence to someone who refers to people as "Ape Men" will get lost soon in translation. Your ignorance completely proves not only everything mentioned in the video but kills your argument by a long shot.

dkevinpearson 6 months ago
@dkevinpearson I agree with what appears to be your main argument: that Obama should be judged on his own merits, or lack thereof, rather than compared to Bush. You shat in your pudding, however, with your bigoted "you Americans" generalization. You Brits just can't avoid taking a slap at us can you? Must be the result of a lifetime spent eating terrible food.
GrouchoLenin 4 months ago
@GrouchoLenin Dude, what the FUCK? Instead of defending Americans, you try to resort to a stereotyped insult aimed towards the person who took a slap at you?
Considering 'Americans' are technically also from Canada, South and Central America, it's ridiculous of you to 'defend' a (bad) broad generalisation by using another (bad) broad generalisation. It leads to another stereotype, that 'Americans are arrogant, uneducated, pompous fools', becoming reinforced. Don't stoop to a lower level.

@gustavokov but it's not really that much of a secret that in most states in south america, corruption is way more spread than in Europe oder the US, isn't it? I don't think he wanted be mean in some way, it's just a fact. There are many, many honest Brazilians, dude. Don't worry about it.

Obama acts too. Just saying.

@Wormtail81 All politicians do. It can't be helped sometimes. But Obama is the best president in a LONG, LONG time.
Roflcopter4b 8 months ago
@Roflcopter4b Why do you say so?
Wormtail81 8 months ago
@Wormtail81 He's finally making your dump of a country a little more socialist, and he created millions of jobs.
Roflcopter4b 8 months ago
@Roflcopter4b 1. Socialism is not a good thing. It destroys wealth and diminishes individual freedom. 2. He cannot create jobs by magically spending public money. That does not make any sense. Unemployment is worse under him than it has been under any president since FDR. And if you blame either some supposed market failure or Bush for everything that is happening right now I am not going to spend any more of my time on you.
Wormtail81 8 months ago
@Wormtail81 Then explain to me why socialist countries are the happiest? Explain why while your schools are failing miserably, ours are leading the world, and they're socialist? It is a statistical fact that Obama has created jobs. You can't dispute that. He has inherited quite the situation in your country. Not just from Bush as people like to scapegoat, but from years and years of ridiculous spending in your country. I don't think anyone could have possibly done any better than he has.

@Roflcopter4b
lol where are you getting that ridiculous propaganda from? Some state media source?! I mean, you're a Canadian for Christ sakes. Your country is already and always has been meaningless.
bruceisdaman1001 7 months ago
@bruceisdaman1001 What propaganda? Define meaningfulness. In terms of wealth relative to population, Canada is meaningful. In terms of the happiness of its people, Canada is meaningful. What else is there? Number of guns? Pah. Begone. I've no propaganda.

@shadowgeyser: actually, the major detriments started during reagan's time - even his own economics advisor admitted to it.
if u havent seen the dems in congress protesting & angry at the repugs for their calls to increase deficit, esp. anthony weiner & alan grayson, then ur not up to speed.
mcconnell said his only goal is to make sure nothing passes that will help the president in terms of economy et al.
rumpole33 8 months ago
@shadowgeyser: the rich didnt need higher, larger tax cuts. thus they were unnecessary.
to say "he still cut taxes for everyone" when giving a pittance tax cut to middle/low income in comparison to the rich's tax cuts is insulting. it's like saying "well, we'll give a huge slice of cake to the rich but throw crumbs at the middle/low income so we can say "we still gave cake to everyone.""
what does ur last sentence mean?
rumpole33 8 months ago
@shadowgeyser: tax dollars are supposed to help create jobs in private & public sector. in the priv. sector over 1.8 million in last 13 months.
afghan war plan scheduled for final troop pullout in 2014 w/ iraqi schedule by end of this yr in addition to previous major reduction made 8/2010.
the reason why it's referred to tax cuts for the rich is that they're the ones who are the unnecessary major beneficiaries w/ the middle/low income only getting minor cuts in comparison.
rumpole33 8 months ago
@shadowgeyser: actually, the cuts favored the top income more so than the lower income. the rich saved far more money by $ amt & % individually than those in the middle/low income.
& it's not just income tax but also capital gains tax that bush cut so that multi-millionaire/billionaire hedge fund mgrs & others who rely on this type of income for their wealth pay only about 15% compared to working class' 35% tax rate.
so if u were honest, u'd admit that the repugs favor tax cuts for the wealthy
rumpole33 8 months ago
@shadowgeyser: continued... also remember that bush increased size of govt bigger than any other time in history as well as creating the largest deficit up to that point, whilst giving trillion$ in tax cuts to rich & corp.s.
if u took an honest look at history & overall big picture, then u'd see what we are trying to do now: fix what got royally f*cked up by bush/cheney/repugs
rumpole33 8 months ago
@shadowgeyser: it's new to you apparently.
yeah, it's expanding cuz it takes time to fix 8 f*cked up yrs of destroying our economy w/ unpaid for wars & other programs. the interest amt increases, tax cuts were reduced for the rich & corp.s as well as repugs still voting in and/or keeping tax breaks for the corps. ex: GE & exxon paying $0 in fed taxes w/ repugs pushing for more subsidies for oil industry, etc.
also, bush made it impossible to pull out of 2 expensive wars instantaneously.
