There's probably a hitch in your technique that is putting too much strain on your lower back.

But yes, Javelin in general does just mess up your body, especially the throwing arm......hope things go well kbow.

My coach used to say that if you throw the jav wrong it hurts your elbow; if you throw it right it hurts your back! But you can compress your lower back LESS if you lower your release in front by raising the back of your javelin. A more level throw is better for the back.

I just started throwing the discus at the end of my 8th grade year, and I set the Jr. High school discus record there. I'm going into my Sophomore year in high school now, and I'm throwing the 1.616 kilogram disc. I was only a freshman, and I made it to the state champs. I didn't place, but it's a start. Any thrower out there, you can do it. No matter what.
