It tried to be deeper than a Sonic game needs to be and that bugged me. Plus I didn't really like the addition of Shadow and Rouge, whereas I loved E-102 Gamma.

@do0rkn0b have you ever played it? i agree werehog levels are slow like hell but in fact they're just beat 'em up , maybe it doesn't fit sonic, but it doesn't mean it's bad, and if you complete werehog stages you have day stages, and they're actually fastest stages in sonic universe (thanks to hedgehog engine), it's also about opinions, your is propably different than mine :D (btw i didn't liked this game until i have played it)

The Sonic and Knuckles game could be hooked up with Sonic 2 or Sonic 3. On Sonic 2, it was "Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic 2", and it let you play the game as Knuckles.

On Sonic 3, it was "Sonic 3 and Knuckles", and it combined the two games. After you finished Launch Base Zone (last level of Sonic 3), you'd go to Mushroom Hill Zone (first level of Sonic and Knuckles). It also meant you could play Sonic 3 levels as Knuckles, and Sonic and Knuckles levels with Tails.
