i remember rev.jeter when i was a child at that time he sang with the swan silvertones my parents took me to see them at jones tablenacle in maryland. those were the days, thanks mom and dad, and thank you for sharing.
My Mother lived in his building on 118th Street in Harlem,, I remember him telling the stories of when he was on the road with the Soul Stirers.. I even had the pleasure of playin for him myself!
I meet Claude jetter in the early 90's with my Uncle Van playing the guitar for him at his aprtment. The last I saw him he was in a nursing home in Harlem and played for him and the rest of the residents. R.I.P.
Jesus Remembers was the first song I heard by these guys. Claud's tenor and falsetto were unsurpassed, along with his vocal control. The singing skills of the others shouldn't be dismissed, however. The combination was unforgettable. I hope people won't let the earlier styles pass too far into history.
Claude Jeter and The Swan Silvertone were church wreckers supreme. Never given their just due, underpaid and underated these gentlemen knew their business. Once they left the premises you never forgot their names. The Swan Silvertone with Claude Jeter singing lead. What A treat...Thanks for the Post.
The news of his passing came to my notice today and I was deeply saddened.I've been a fan for the past 25 years. He was one of the supreme lead singers in quartet history.God rest his soul and THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC Mr. Claude Jeter.
Thank all you kids, you, Roroaches and others for keeping this old school gospel alive because radio stations all but forgotten gospel's roots. If it was not for old school, it would not be any Tye Tribbetts, or Mary Mary's or others. And my condolences to the Jeter family.

Rev.Jeter's my singing hero!
I love the way he sings 'Jesus Remembers' !
And he's also my heart fixer.
Every time I visited him in Harlem in the 1990s,
he gave me warm welcome and sang with me
along with some members of the Melotones.
Thank you, Rev.Jeter! Say hi to Jesus for me.
I know you're up there with Him!
