Nowadays its just more of the same old, same old. FPS with some squad against some aliens, or a terrorists or something.... they're fun to play for a while... but they're just so cliche and unoriginal! =\

man that was awesome.Matrimelee is a VERY under-rated great game.good gameplay,good graphics,good sound and artwork,great backgrounds.this is really a good game and 2-D fighter all around.wish this came to the States,guess i'll have to try and import it.lol glad a laundry mat Arcade had this great game so i get to play it a couple of times.

I loved this game, the oddball characters in fighting games always get on my soft side, and this game has tons of them.

I love this game...Characters are crazy for example Tane where she can turn into an younger version on herself, Poochy the man in dog's costume who act like a dog. My favourite character is Keith as well as Reiji and Shintaro. The only thing i HATE on this game is Princess Sissy. THAT DAMN GIRL is almost unbeatable with that Abubo as a jin.

@jupiterisdagirl Actually the RotD characters are guest characters in this game, and have no refection on the games story, since their ending has Sissy In it, plus Jimmy and Mr.Jones are in it too. (All 4 are available by means of a Input Code on the Char. Select Screen)

Man,I remember playing that game twice at an arcade once. I made it to the finals against Princess sissy,and I could barely get a shot at her,what an insanely hard as hell endboss she is.

the theme that plays when fighting Elias is so badass. impressive for a soundchip and a hardware from 1990. also a shame this game is often so underrated. in case anybody who is reading my comment and thinks this game is strange than remember that this playthrough is on the US setting, the japanese setting is a lot more crazy and freaky and features almost completely different audio and a lot more details and variations in some backgrounds.

@godoftakedown lots of japanese versions of games have extras you haven't seen before. Take the various voices for example in Magical Drop 2 and 3. The English version didn't have endings to the game (and had four default voices).

The story is like this.

The king of a certain country wants to find a successor for the throne and the ideal husband for his daugther ( which is sissy. ) So he hold a tournament where the prize is the hand of the princess ( or a beautiful and strong woman for the prince.) and the throne or the kingdom.
