  • jus cuz they are boys dont meen notjing it makes me sik they arent gay besides u botches in an intervie they even asked if they gay and the director sed they are best frends and they have gf ernie likes abby cadabby!!

  • They are not gay! they are roomates even if they are gay they are just puppets gosh!!

  • This is a love song.

  • FUCK ELMO

  • ~ sigh~ they don't make Bert and Ernie like that any more. Watching it with my baby nowdays, Bert and Ernie have been reduced to cartoons in between segments of Elmos show. Thanks for posting!

  • Just like Bert & Ernie are best friends; Jim Henson & Frank Oz were great friends. Frank was very upset when Jim died and decided to quit in the late '90s. He quited mainly because he hated Steve Whitmore (Jim's replacement) and Jerry Nelson (who voiced The Count, Herry Monster, Fat Blue & I believe he was Mumford). So fuck u all "bert & ernie gay lovers" encouragers!

  • Amen, brother, amen.....

  • @ryandocflash You are the man, brother!

  • even thow u filmed right of the tv it was still good quility video

  • thanks.......proof-read......

  • ty 4 this video. makes me sorta sad to remember everything. but great about most of great things of my friends n stuff. keep up dude :)

  • ROFL! Imagine that....dead of night. probably between 3 and 4 in the morning. And you wake your roomate, whilst scaring the crap out of him only to say "I was just thinking of some of the things you can do with your head" LMAO.

  • I liked your introduction to the video. The Ernie/Bert segments are my favorite on Sesame Street. Good job.

  • @christinamadonna

I am also very fond of the Ernie/Bert segments! At least the ones from once upon a time!

  • What you said is so true. It is horrible, that this world has taken the best childrens show ever, and made bert and ernie into 'gay lovers'. This was my fave show as a child, and I still love it. I also remember watching the originals in the 80's. Thank you so much for posting!

  • God bless the ones who post these priceless treasures.

  • friends?! seriously? I always thought they were married back when I watched this show!

    -_- ........fail.

nice video though I love it!

  • thanks for subscribing to my channel!!! I love your video diaries. You are mature enough to realize the only thing we do in this life is create memories. Good or bad....so why not try and capture them on camera. Makes it easier to remember.

  • i love this video. it reminds me of my friends

  • the b n e saga continues. i'm gonna watch every single 1

  • sniff sniff....... i'm gonna cal my grandma right now!!

  • Jeff Moss's last song he wrote (I think). Good way to end his career I say.

  • This video makes me think of my cousin & when he used to spend time with me & my family during the summer!

  • dude thanks so much for posting this i sent this video link to a few people that need reminding of how to treat people. Im so happy to have a good and true best friend

  • Your welcome, bro...I'm glad it touched you and I hope it brings some good to other people. I'm so happy to have a true and best friend as well.....

  • What a great reminder to those of us who are lucky enough to have a few really close friends. Makes me a little homesick right now...

  • Bert's an awful singer, best leave it to Ernie eh....lol

  • This song always brings a tear to my eye as I think about my kids hoping they remember the things their dad did with them as they get older.

  • Amazing video clip... brings back good memories.. good job!

  • Cute.

  • This is one of my all time favorites - makes me cry everytime.

  • You're welcome, bro:-)

  • man i remember all those lol man good times why do we have to get old lol

  • 5 *

  • thanks a lot man:)

  • You're welcome, bro:-)

  • Ok, maybe I'm a little slow, but I just thought how Ernie and Bert remind me of SpongeBob and Squidward, respectively.

  • I remember this segment. I haven't seen it in nearly a decade.

  • I love watching the fish jump into their boat!

  • I really disliked these singing things as a kid, but they're cool as an adult. A little sappy though :-)

  • That's Steve Whitmire doing Ernie's voice, isn't it? RIP Jim. You made lots of us real happy!

  • Yes, it is Steve Whitmire doing Ernie....

  • EVERYTHING is right in this vid. Wake me up from this nightmare and tell me Jim is alive.

  • hmmmm, yeah

  • What can I say? Just about one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Thank you Mr.

Henson. We still here miss you and you love.

  • this made me cry. i miss these guys. i luv u E&B!!!! ♥♥♥♥

  • Same here. This is the best clip that they ever done on 1990s Sesame.

  • Makes you real nostalgic, huh?

  • so sweet...

  • Although I could be wrong I believe that this is one of the very last Ernie ad Bert sketches performed by Frank Oz. Ever since he left we've been seeing less and less Bert because Sesame Workshop is just so sick of people saying E&B are promting a gay union. They were designed to show kids that even the most different people can be friends. This has always been a problem here in America, and now what with the terrorist attacks Muslims and Arabs are the latest outcasts.

  • People will fight this message of truth until the very end, but I for one will never forget the lessons I learned from Bert and Ernie, and cosider myself a better person because of them. Hats off to you Frank, Jim, God bless you.

Rest in Peace Jim, you deserve it.

  • o......

    :)

  • @Gabrielle261 I agree, things like this really piss me off. These days almost everything from the 70's and 80's is accused of having gay undertones. Even if they do (which most of the time they definately don't, it just doesn't make sense), what's the big deal? If anything, it should be a good thing since it shows how being gay is normal

  • ha ha ha

  • This video moves me every single time I see it. The little opening speech is so true.

  • Its also important to note that their friendship was initially used to introduce a special needs person, Ernie. Bert is a friend and care-taker for Ernie. SS has dealth with special needs/death, race, class and language issues and a whole slew of other issues in very subtle ways. I guess more "recent" viewer don't pick up on the experience/intellectual difference btw the two friends.

  • I belive they made this sketch in rememberence of Jim Henson

  • It hasn't been the same since Jim Henson died.

  • bert and ernie are definitely not GAY, because I have two friends who are have a friendship just like them, but I swear they are not GAY.

I love this song, and I could recall I heard that about 12 years ago, when I was a junior.

  • I'm crying now, lol. I love Bert and Ernie ((Ernie being my favorite)) I sent this to my bff. I feel that there just aren't good shows like Sesame Street anymore. B&E for life!!

  • Great memories. I wasn't born until 1987 of May, but I do remember enjoying the series.

  • I think it would be okay if they were gay. I think maybe they should get kids to understand homosexuality early so they can learn to accept it when they're older

  • I don't think little kids should be introduced to any sort of sexuality, especially on TV. It's not up to complete strangers to tell their kids about gay people! Or straight people!

God, our society is rushing sex on these kids like crazy. No wonder we have thirteen year olds getting pregnant. -rolls eyes-

This show has gotten so stupid. They changed everything! T_T

  • Where do you see anything about homosexually in this? They're friends.

  • I mean they sleep in separated beds. Blame the parents who let them watch more vulgar things.

  • ernie and bert are not teaching about sexuality even if they are gay. with your logic nobody should ever be in any kind relationship on TV. earnie and bert are teaching about healthy freindships and whether or not they are in a romantic relationship is none of our buisness. they love eachother either way.

  • *sniffle* I wasn't born until 1990, but I still remember some of the good stuff before Sesame Street turned into what it is now (pure crap). I miss the old Sesame Street...

  • AHHHMEN dude!!

  • This song is officially titled "Things That I Remember" and it first debuted in 1997.

  • i was bauling my eyes out

  • *snith* ernie has a beautiful voise.

  • Growing up as a child in the 70s in the Far East, I was reserved, quiet and did not have that many friends. I watched a lot of TV and waited patiently for the weekends to come just so that I could watch Sesame Street, which aired for about an hour during lunch time on Sat and Sun. Ernie and Bert have been two of my favourite characters since then, and they were sort of like my friends albeit only on the screen. This is really lovely to be reminded of our childhood.

  • I honestly don't remember a thing from Seasame Street, but I do know that I loved these two so much :D

  • Thank You Thank You!!!!!

  • You know something? This IS an awesome clip! I really love how Steve Whitmire and Eric Jacobson continue to perform the characters that Jim Henson and Frank Oz portrayed in SS's early days. :)

  • I just happened upon this video by accident, and now I am sitting in my office sobbing because that was just so touching. It's amazing how much these characters make all of our intimate childhood memories resurface. Cynicism be damned, this is just a lovely moment between two best friends. Would that we could all express ourselves so openly with those we love. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • I think it's such a shame that we as Americans are so sexually insecure that we have destroyed this priceless memory of our childhood. I just can't believe it!

  • Bert can't sing

  • I dedicate this clip to every friend that I have ever had or will ever have in my life, past, present, & future! You all know who you are & I love you guys dearly, even those I have yet to meet, I still love you!

  • That is so great the message you gave before you showed it and the video is just all around a good reminder of how to remember the good times we have.

  • bert and ernie are the best thing in the history of TV

  • OMG,this song and video is so cute and beautifal

  • heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere fishie fishie fishie <3 :D

  • I used t say that when I was fishing with my dad, I was 5. Those were great times

  • i love this video it so cute

  • oh man this is so beautiful and cute!!! T^T

  • I think this segmant was made in rememberance of Jim Henson.

  • this is lovely... i know ive never seen this.. i remember all the sesame stuff i watched.. and this wasnt one of them. if anyone has seen avenue q... Rod and Nicky are based on Bert and Ernie.. and i could just imagine them singing this... its beautiful!!!! sniff sniff!!!!

  • aww I love BErt and Ernie<3 I call my friend Bert and she Calls me Ernie! cause we best friends like them! i have a video called the best of bert and Ernie and its my favorite vid!

  • well Aaron walter Do Know Love Ernie and Bert is my Favorite the Best Friends Forever of all I Do Like Ernie and Bert with me here to call me here to take care with me only yes I have all the Videos about them all are here alltogether are all the same are here on sesame street Forevermore

  • Oh Man this makes me smile... and sad at the same time. I use to own loads of sesame street books, and this just reminded me of them...

  • This is so awesome!

Out of curiousity - who started the whole gay thing with them? Our homophobic society? 50 years ago men could link arms and they'd be considered friends, now they'd be looked at funny - how ridiculous and sad.

  • Actually that was earlier than 50 years ago, and that was because "soddomy" was made a punishable law.

  • I don't think it's homophobic. It's just a really obvious subtext. If Bert and Ernie were male and female and behaved in the same way, people would still think they were a couple, even if they didn't sleep in the same room. It's because they act coupley.

  • i know buddy!!! it's the simplest things that mean the most innit mate.

  • SABIHA!!! this is us yo..

  • this was beautiful! thanks for posting this!

  • cool I forgot how much I love Sesame Street thanks for sharing.

    Added to favorites!

  • Thank you for this. For some, the close friendship those two shared was inspiring. And for others, seeing two boy puppets together without hate was equally inspiring, just in another way. When we were kids, we didn't see anything wrong with anything, and only saw the good. Thanks for posting this up and reminding us all about the goods times when friendships weren't ripped apart because of some homophobic bigots.

  • This reminds me of the good times my best freind and I have had. He's in L.A. now. I think I'll give him a call.

  • Wow, this brought back memories. Especially of how I could look at those two when I was a kid and not think that they were gay.

  • this is great, pass me some cleenex...

  • This is definitely one of the cooler songs about friendship. "You took my favorite pillow, used my favorite chair. When you're gone, I miss you, and I'm happy when you're there." Yeah. That pretty much sums it up.

  • You are awesome. How can I be like you? Punk.

  • This video was made I think as a goodbye to Jim Henson, he died a short time before this clip was made and this was Steve Witmore's first time as Ernie. If you listen very carefully it seems like Bert is chocking up at a few points.

  • Once and for all. Bert and Ernie were not gay! They were mentally challenged adults who lived together to cut costs. I love them.

  • i like bert and ernie...i liek you to!

  • such wonderful memories, thanks for posting.

  • I went there too.

  • That was awesome. Things were so much simpler back then. Thanks for posting this.

  • thats an awesome video. brought me back to when i was a child in the 1980's and the world was just an innocent happy place. im a 24 year old 6'3 220lbs man and seeing this made me cry. thank you so much for posting this!! :) and screw any of you nerd-ass fools who sit there and diss ernie and bert!!

  • Ernie aint the same w/o Henson's voice. This guy here is too high pitched and fast.

  • I think it is so stupid that anyone could think that they were gay, they acted more like brothers to me. Adults ruin everything for kids given half a chance, it's Jim Henson for heaven's sake.

  • Well said anna! Well said! :-)

  • Ditto me on that, jrc99us. I think anna's wrong in only one way: it's not necessarily the adults that feel compelled "to ruin". I think it's the kids that are viewing it that way already. They become sad, cynical wretches long before they are even in their teens and I doubt they will have anything to look back fondly on 30 years from now.

  • Bert: Things that i remember, safe inside my head, rubber ducks and pigeons, and the different books we've read. You took my favorite pillow, use my favorite chair, when you're done i miss you, and i'm happy when you're here. And there's an arm around the shoulder, and the friend i'll always keep, and nights so full of talking, we never fell asleep. Each day has it's memories, and when the day is through, things that i remember, are the things i did with you.

  • Ernie: Things that i remember, times that never end, favorite things inside my head, special friend to friend. Roads we walked together, all the stops we've made, jokes we've told and songs we've sung, the silly games we've played. And there are chilly days in winter, out laughing in the snow, and lazy days in summer, with no place much to go. Each day has it's memories, and when the day is through, things that i remember, are the things i did with you.

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. I have a hard time finding this song in any CD available in the store. Would you mind putting the video on a CDROM/DVD and send it to me? I really appreciate it if you can do it. Thanks.

  • This is way cool. It brought a little tear to my eye as well as bringing back some great memories. I remember them well.

  • Was Jeff Moss the voice of Bert?

  • At least they're not swearing in the English version.

  • AAAHWW ^^ :)

  • Another five-star "Aww!" moment from Sesame Street's later years; it's a shame the show can't find decent songwriters like Jeff Moss nowadays.

  • i think this ernie & bert segment was made because sesame street was celebrating 28 years of thier friendship.

  • It is definitely Frank Oz doing Bert... The tribute clips were good, but it's still missing those old classics of the '60's, which to me, where really funny...

  • Bert's a terrible singer. They seemed pretty pleased to go to sleep after sharing their experiences!

  • Very, very cool.... Mom and Dad.... LYMI...

  • This brought a tear to my eye. I have sent this to my best friend... Also may I just honour the cute yank and his appreciation of true friendship and puppets.

  • I miss Jim Henson

  • This was filmed in 1997.. Bert's Frank Oz

  • Frank Oz is doing Bert here.

  • Are you sure? I really think its Eric Jacobson. It doesn't have the Fozzie/Piggy twinge to it.
