I have no idea where you people live but in the region of the US in which I live, a carp is considered a "throw away" fish, considered to nasty a creature for human consumption. The otter is not an invasive species, your comments that otters should be exterminated for existing within the ecosystem as nature intended perplexes me. Do you worship fish? Ive seen Bald Eagles take a chunk out of a salmon in the same manner and leave it lie, should we exterminate all raptors?
Just so everybody knows, these Otters live ten miles north of San Francisco, CA. I'm assuming danyboy172 is a carp and is rightfully entitled to his opinion.
Fat carp, bloated on boilie. Easy prey for an Otter. An Otter versus a true sleek wild carp. the carp could get away. These giant carp are as natural as a ornate goldfish.
i went fishin the other day and cought a carp. I put it on a line so it wont die because i was gonna keep it and when i went to take it out i seen a hole in his belly. demn otters

@carpmanish The otter was following his natural instincts. As an angler, you should respect nature, I reckon. Otters catch fish for food, not for fun like all the catch&release anglers do.
@mufi3 if nature took it's course, otters would be pretty much extinct in the UK. Otters do not kill just for food, they play like dogs/cats and will kill even if not hungry. They also will kill a 20lb fish and eat a few mouthfuls. I have nothing against otters as such, but I wish those who really wanted them on our rivers were the ones who paid for the fish they slaughter. I quite like eagles, but that doesn't mean I want them eating people's pet cats/rabbits.
@gnorty You should keep your 'insights' to yourself. Otters wouldnt be 'pretty much extinct' in the UK if it wasnt for humans or pesticides, nothing to do with nature at all. As for cats and rabbits being eat by Eagles? Rabbits are a pest (legally classed as such) so no big loss there and if they are pet rabbits they should more securely locked away. Cats? The more that die the merrier - they kill millions of birds each year! We need birds for pollination, seed spreading etc. Die cat die!

Strange that you would kill cats for eating birds, but otters killing fish is fine. Strange also that you feel pet rabbits ought to be caged all the time. They kinda like running free and people kinda like to see them outside. Perhaps you didn't really think your response through. If you have a more reasoned argument, I'd love to hear it.

Not an inteeligent start was it? Nature isnt kind, or caring, or reasonable. Otters kill for food, anglers kill for sport. Eagles kill for food, so if its a cat, rabblit, lamb, I simply dont care. Cats just kill and not for food, for pleasure. If the choice was mine, i'd kill the cats :)

In fact the only people killing carp are poachers, and they do it for food. Otters on the other hand will kill a carp, bite a few chunks out of it and then leave the rest to rot. I still say, anyone who says otters have a place around privately stocked water should pay for the fish the furry little fuckers destroy.
