@MrCostas16 Outside of jet fighter purchase it is clear that support aircraft will always be purchased. The Turkish acquisition of F-35's is as follows, 100 F-35's will be delivered to the Turkish air force in 2012 with an additional 12 the following year & in 2015 TAI will produce the F-35 100 percent locally. The F-4 Terminator will be used until 2025 and the F16 A/B will be phased out with F-35's but first the aging non Terminator var F-4's will be replaced.

So if we were to compare the GDP value of Greece & Turkey by internal national standards the Turkish GDP will be 3 times higher then it currently is (based on global standard).

You might as well compare the PZH 2000 to the T-155 (made in Turkey) however I would let you know the T-155 has a range of 56km compared to the PZH 2000's 30km.

Look , I didn't say logi is wrong but there were treaties. Turkey had the right to say no. But I'll tell you why turkey has this right. Ottomans ruled the island for more than 350 years. It was a long period to settle turks as the major populace. But althouh ottomans were muslim they were in a diffeent manner then ( pre 1789) . afterwards the islnd was ceded to britain while1877-78 ottoman-russian war with some guarntees. When greece wanted the island as a whole it beome as a situation of we cede island to the grece which we didn't intend. Islands were ceded to UK nd UK can cede them only with our approval (at least according to international law) . Listn Annan plan although not very satisfying , was to create a new nation Cyprus. Greece fought by itself with very limited infantry reserves, limited and rusted equipment,no airforce ot tank/armor support whatsoever. But it did managed to drive the Italians back. (Considering italy was a superpower back then).

For example in the first balcan war turkish officeres were divided into 2 main fraction to take over the governemnt and did not back up one eah other. Do you care ? Although the Greek army is not shaped to attack or make territorial war, but only to defend, only.
In every war Greece has taken part in, it was defending and in some points counter attacking.
The only big mistake Greece made, was in the 2nd balkan war, in which it attacked and pushed into Turkey near Ankara.

Other than that, Greece has never been into an offensive position.
Greek military is only here to defend and weapon systems Greece has, are made to defend not attack.

@MrCostas16 Outside of jet fighter purchase it is clear that support aircraft will always be purchased. The Turkish acquisition of F-35's is as follows, 100 F-35's will be delivered to the Turkish air force in 2012 with an additional 12 the following year & in 2015 TAI will produce the F-35 100 percent locally. The F-4 Terminator will be used until 2025 and the F16 A/B will be phased out with F-35's but first the aging non Terminator var F-4's will be replaced.

@MrCostas16 Your forgetting the 116 F-35's that will start appearing in Turkey real soon. Turkey in 2008 began it's fleet upgrade of F16 C/D some 200 F-16's to the block 50/52 standard. Greece as a counteract purchased 30 more F-16 block 52 jet fighters in 2005.

@MrCostas16 Actually the mirage was acquired by Greece in 1975 after the re evaluation of Greece from (threat of communism to the threat from the east (Turkey)). This was a response to the Turkish invasion of northern Cyprus in 1974. The mirage was superior to the Turkish starfighter in everything except altitude climb. The Mirage was the most superior (not incl modern upgraded F-4's) fighter in the aegean until the arrival of the F-16.

@murattk22 good morning for start.you anderstimate the 3.5 to 4 generation advance f-16 block 52+ and f-16 block 52M ADVANCE and mirage 2000-5? this aircrafts have systems from 4 generation figthers like super hornet-rafale! also we have JHMCS helmets with iris-t missiles[like yours sindewinder X] and mica missiles with advance infa red cameras.this figthers and missiles can deafet even the tyfhoons or even RUSSIAN SU-30-SU33-SU35!!!!

@sailorkostas These fighters are advanced yes but they are obsolete to the F-35, furthermore a large number of our F-16's are being upgraded to the block 52 standard. You realize that Greece must soon find a replacement for her F-16's? and the really old mirage's? (F-16 only has 8000 hours life time). Turkey can easily rebuild it's F-16 (and upgrade them) locally.

@sailorkostas Under the Peace Xenia program Greece does not produce F-16's locally but instead has them delivered from overseas. This is why in 1998 Athens declined the Greek F-16's to be reconfigured into nuclear strike roles as Greece needs them for conventional air attack & ground attack roles in case it ever goes into war with Turkey. Peace Xania IV was the Greek order of 30 F-16's with an option of 10 more were ordered in 2005. Turkey has recently started to upgrade it's fleet to blck 50+

My original comment was that Greece has no local F-16 factory but even if it did have one like Turkey it would need to send for it's first flight of every jet fighter built first to U.S soil before Turkish/Greek military can use it exclusively.

@murattk22 i continiou: in a suprise attack the special operation forces plays big role! and the greek special forces especialy the ETA [special parachoute group] and under water demolition groups OYK similar to seals or s.b.s. can deploy fast in your country and target infustructers or execute direct attacks in your forces on ground,also greece have many programs for electronic war,so dont tell me about who's got the forces for a suprise attack!!!!!!!! and aour helios sats target your forces!

@sailorkostas Have a look at the panter artillery. It makes artillery spotters obsolete & your special forces will be heavily handicapped in a country that is not only alien (terrain) to them but also in a country that has survelliance systems everywhere (civil war with PKK terror group has militarized Turkey). Our awacs+2 spy sats (2nd in 2011) ensure that Turkey will never allow Greek troops to land in Turkey (sorry but this is the truth).

@sailorkostas We have around 1000 UAV's (look it up) 200 of which are armed. The panter is far more advanced then anything Greece has (30 seconds deploy/escape). The GDP in Greece may be more higher then in Turkey but in reality in per dollar terms you get more in Turkey (1 to 3 ratio). So if we were to compare the GDP value of Greece & Turkey by internal national standards the Turkish GDP will be 3 times higher then it currently is (based on global standard).

@murattk2 the panter is similar yes [not better] to PZH 2000,and turkey have a fleet of UAVs[heron ,gnat,TAIs designes,and UCAV-SEAD harpy]but not in 1000!!!!! is around with the harpy: 40 UAVs and 100 harpy men.

@sailorkostas Sorry got the figures mixed up the air force (total as est in 07). But UAV is still around 180 (Turkish & foreign built). With the PZH 2000 your comparing a (foreign built) tracked artillery to a classic (but still mobile) deployment artillery (30k vs 40km max weapon range). You might as well compare the PZH 2000 to the T-155 (made in Turkey) however I would let you know the T-155 has a range of 56km compared to the PZH 2000's 30km.

@sailorkostas Obviously ammo types matter but the T-155 also has superior operational range and slightly superior speed. I want to stress that Greece will have a total of 36 of the PZH 2k while Turkey will have a total of 340 (+10 as spare parts hulks/reserves). We obviously disagree on who has the better (German built PZH 2k or German based (shell) Turkish T-155)) vehicle. I only hope that the analysis of these 2 monsters happen in war games and not in a war sparked by war mongers on bth sides
