@Leethellama Not for the typical business user. I have 2 widescreen on my own desk, but they are 24" - most businesses will not spend the money for a large enough widescreen monitor.
As I stated in the video, if you get paid to watch movies at work, or use spreadsheets with LOTS of columns, widescreen is the way to go. Most others get a better monitor for the money with standard aspect ratio.
Very nice walk-a-round. You describe my views on widescreen pretty well. I don't like the trend towards the 16:9 aspect ratio (especially on laptops) due to the reduced viewing height.
This is the first review of yours I've seen so I don't know if this is typical, but how well does it actually work? Color accuracy, ghosting, backlight quality, etc. What about the actual performance?
That's essentially what I want to use it for, so it's good to know. I just thought it was strange to see a display review where the display isn't even turned on. Thanks anyway.
how did you remove that speaker bar?

kukif 9 months ago
@kukif Both exist. 640x480 is 4:3, 800x600 is 4:3, 1024x768 is 4:3, 1280x1024 is 5:4

@FreeCompConsultant native resolution is 1280x1024 so 5:4 see at dell.com

@Mayhemm007 We use this in business environments, Windows XP/7 with MS Office.
For what we do they are a superb performer, but we have no need to test color accuracy nor do we have any high end graphics applications.
thanks.

Actually, I like using a "wide screen" better @ work, because I can display more cells in Excel.
amnar12 2 years ago
For some people, yes, wide screen works out well. But spreadsheets with lots of columns are typically only used by some accountants.
If that is the case for you, take a look at my video on the Dell 2407 (now 2408) 24" widescreen. They have a sound bar for that monitor also.
I have 2 of the 2408's on my desk.
