  • This is strange. The video looks like 4:3 but the bars are bigger than they should be.

  • @thepod96 It's something I only ever noticed when I copied the VHS onto DVD and watched it on the PC, but from my what I have on VHS then it appears this was an issue with whatever went on at Astra or C&W's headend... but it was only ever on Analogue, not digital.

  • @steviegTVreturns Could you explain a bit more why is there thick black lines on Analogue Cable?

  • Im sure the programme ending which starts first in this video is 2point4 children?

  • @ElectrexOnline It isn't 2 Point 4 Children, although I know where you're coming from, the credits look similar. The programme is some Alf Garnett thing which was only about 5 minutes long, and more oddly was a Carlton Production for UK Gold...!

  • Isn't that Dirty Den at 0:48?

  • Am I correct in saying the continuity announcer currently announces for BBC? Anyone know a name?

  • Dean Lydiate is the man's name who is announcing here!

  • Great clips, back in the days when UK Gold focussed more on old British TV tea-time programmes.

  • Why did they change their own schedule?

  • Was there a channel called UK Gold Classics? I seem to remember the channel unless my mind is playing tricks on me. I believe that UK Gold Classics later turned into UK Gold 2.

  • You are right, it didn't last long though, it was broadcast from Fridays to Sundays on Sky Digital only, it sometime in 1999 became UK Gold 2.

  • and the name UK Gold Classics lasted 6 months (October 1998-April 1999)
