Yes, volume p-locks would be your main route. A bit tedious but the LFO designer saves the day here. Once you get the custom LFO the way you want, you can access it from all the tracks. Another thing is that you could also "side-EQ" the mix/bassline so that the kick sounds louder from changing the EQ. Easy to try with the p-lock approach.
What do you think would be the best work around for sidechain compression using a kick as a signal. Would it be emulating the effect by doing para locks with the volume to reduce bass when the kick hits ?
@aikighost Not a real sidechain from audio. But yes it does accept Midi triggering of different parameters. I haven't looked at the Midi specs for compressor specifically but the manual at Elektron's site would cover this.

Does the octattrack compressor have a sidechain input, or the ability to trigger the compressor envelope via a midi pattern?
