  • I love documentary type things and the videos about Jani are interesting to see. Would love another update.

  • why does she always clap her hands?

  • @MeAndMyKitties they have said before (in the interview with Oprah) that she needs to be constantly interacted with...maybe clapping helps with that. I'm sure this poor girl doesn't WANT to be mean and probably doesn't like some of the hallucinations that come out when she's alone and inactive.

  • I hope everything is well with Jani! I worry for her a lot and think about you guys everytime i get on youtube! Please just consider alternatives to the anti-psychotics, there has been a lot of great research on them. Her happiness and longevity should be the most important thing here, so I hope your search for something better will never fade.

  • I'm really glad to know your daughter is doing well! Thanks for the update.

  • Personally, if I were in Jani's situation, I would love to have videos of my childhood so that I could know exactly where I came from and what my life was like, including the more irrational episodes I went through (such as the "psychosis" video). If I were Jani, I would definitely want video records of my episodes, for my own sake. I think these videos are important. Also, I wouldn't exactly call 2-3 minute videos of playing a board game or setting up a turtle tank "intrusive" by any means.

  • in mandarin???? may i say .... AMAZING!

  • I love you guys. I have watched every video I can find on your daughter and have been so inspired. I've been trying to figure out what I'm going to do in college next year and I've been flip flopping between english, journalism, and psychology, but watching your daughter has made me realize I am most passionate about child psychology. I want to help. and I also feel I understand to a certain degree. I've had my slice of disorders in my life, just enough to have an enormous amount of empathy.

  • That kid Jani has rock star charisma

  • you are wonderful parents, this video is so cute she's a very smart little girl :)

  • I completely admire you as parents. The amount of dedication and unconditional love is incredible. At times I'm sure you feel like giving up, but just so you know, there are thousands of people out there who support you and admire your courage to carry on.

  • why do I hear water in the background through the whole video???

  • @britnim22 Advocating violence against my wife. Real nice. You know if you said this in the real world it would be a crime. Advocating violence doesn't do much for your crediblity.

  • @JaniFoundation my whole point is your daughter needs help not publicity.

  • @britnim22 Ah, now you tone down the violent rhetoric when you realize someone is actually watching you.

Jani is getting help. She is doing very well. The medications help a great deal and we have dedicated our lives to our children. I don't have much patience for armchair psychologists on YouTube who have never met her. The "publicity" as you call it helps thousands of other families know they are not alone. Jani is not that unique.

  • @JaniFoundation Keep up the good work! I see my wife struggle with services, schools, doctors and medications and it makes me proud to see her sharing her and my son's experiences to the hopeful benefit of others who believe they are alone. If we knew in the beginning what we know now, we would be light-years ahead in my sons treatment - and that's what people like you, your wife and my wife do for the world. Many thanks!

  • @JaniFoundation Could you please tell me how Jani is going every once in a while? She sounds really nice, and I bet some of her animals are too! (I'm only a kid... so I don't mean to be.. mean..)

  • @Pawscat820 Sorry. I know we don't update much here. Jani is doing pretty well. She has her ups and downs but overall she continues to improve.

  • @britnim22 Publicity and attention get you money to help your kid, weirdo.

  • I have paranoid schizophrenia.

  • sooooooooooooooooo......who won?

  • her mom REALLY needs to tone down the fake.

  • @musclecars60 If acting fake made you're schizophrenic daughter live another day would you "be fake". Most people do anything they can to help the ones they love, especially kids like Jani! Obviously a concept you don't understand. this women dose more for her daughter and family than any person I know. She lives with this everyday and maybe sometimes its easier to get caught up in her world then to have to always be so strong.

  • Cannabinoids for the Treatment of Schizophrenia? A Balanced Neurochemical Framework for Both Adverse and Therapeutic Effects of Cannabis Use

    Schizophrenia Research and Treatment

    Volume 2011 (2011), Article ID 501726, 9 pages

    doi:10.1155/2011/501726

"Recent studies have found that cannabinoids may improve neuropsychological performance, ameliorate negative symptoms, and have antipsychotic properties for a subgroup of the schizophrenia population."

  • @dogcharlie420 nah, cannabis for kids is not right.

  • @RoflKnifeDemandz What makes you think that? Do you realize there are Cannabinoid Pills and tinctures? Its not as though she would be sitting around smoking it, do some research.

  • The antipsychotic-like properties of CBD have been investigated in animal models using behavioral and neurochemical techniques which suggested that CBD has a pharmacological profile similar to that of atypical antipsychotic drugs.

    - Cannabidiol, a Cannabis sativa constituent, as an antipsychotic drug FROM Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research

    On-line version ISSN 1414-431X

  • Michael jackson died on june 25 2009 this was uploaded on the two year anniversery of his death

  • once she gets closer to 12-13, Id suggest medical marijuana for her, a vapor inhalation would soothe the poor little darling. Maybe look into it, at least.

  • @dogcharlie420 you obviously know nothing about mental disorders. weed would only destabilize her; nothing good would ever come from that.

i have a psychotic disorder and weed sends me off the deep end. just because your norml website says weed is the miracle cure for everything doesn't mean it is.

  • @n1njapirate actually, its been tested and there have been many documentaries on the effects it has for schizophrenia. It isnt the 90's anymore, alternative medicines are proving themselves no matter how ignorant people like you remain.

  • @dogcharlie420 actually, friend, i think you have a confirmation bias. i'll explain a bit of neuroscience to you. the best theory we currently have that explains why psychotic disorders happen (partially) goes like this: overfiring in the dopamine system antagonizes some of the symptoms of psychotic disorders. we're not quite sure why, but there's mountainous amounts of evidence to support this theory. granted, there are other theories which i encourage you to look up.

  • @n1njapirate haha look, you cant fight me on this, its not the 90's anymore. There are plenty of studies that prove your 1950's idea of cannabinoids to be ohhhh so wrong. Even Wikipedia can teach you that. Re-educate yourself and maybe you can help people like January with a natural remedy rather than posing her little body with chemicals.

  • @n1njapirate

Theres a great study called Effects of cannabidiol on schizophrenia-like symptoms in people who use cannabis- and thats old... also if you dont want to read..

BBC's Should I Smoke Dope is one of MANY Documentaries where experts talk about the subject of CBD's and THC's effects on schizophrenia symptoms.

  • @dogcharlie420 now, weed comes into the picture in this way: multiple scientific and peer edited papers have shown that weed has some effect on the dopaminergic system, typically overfiring of the neurons (which could explain why some people get anxious etc.) couple this with the theory of why psychotic disorders happen (overfiring of dopaminergic neurons) and there should be a fairly clear answer, which is your neurons are firing even faster.

  • @n1njapirate for the last 30 years mj has been bred specifically for THC content. But now with more relaxed laws, strands are being testing for the canabinoid percentages. With new testing theyre able to pick out strains of cannabis that have a higher CBD percentage. THose strains are extremely beneficial for medical purposes and most importantly a great alternative. The CBD's have a higher calming effect, the THC is what causes those anxious feeling syou where talking about.

  • @dogcharlie420 Recent studies have found that cannabinoids may improve neuropsychological performance, ameliorate negative symptoms, and have antipsychotic properties for a subgroup of the schizophrenia population.

  • @n1njapirate open case reports of schizophrenic patients treated with CBD and a preliminary report of a controlled clinical trial comparing CBD with an atypical antipsychotic drug have confirmed that this cannabinoid can be a safe and well-tolerated alternative treatment for schizophrenia

  • @dogcharlie420 the best medication we have currently are antipsychotics, which as much as i hate taking them, they truly work. and guess how they work. they retard the overfiring of the dopamine neurons. if you would like links to papers showing proof for any of this, please tell me. and i'm more than happy to look at your proof as well; that's what science is about. oh, and i'm not ignorant.

  • @n1njapirate that will all change with new research thankfully, and people like you will have to suck it up and realize there are alternatives to such dangers medications.

  • @dogcharlie420 don't you realize you opened up stating that you absolutely can't be swayed on this? what's the point of arguing with someone like that? i have several papers from the late nineties and even more papers dated in the 2000's to support other prongs of my argument. so, what i'll request from you are scientific papers proving your point. i'll happily provide mine as well

  • @n1njapirate If you read all my comments on this page, your confusions should be cleared up.

  • @dogcharlie420 there's no confusion and i understand what you're saying, i just want to see scientific literature that supports your claims. if you find a paper on Wiley, i have an account that allows me to get papers for free. (i'm a biochemist)

  • @n1njapirate

While I agree that marijuana has a medical use I believe that it's counter indicated in people with psychotic disorders. I have never smoked pot because I'm bipolar and have problems with paranoia. I have been told by many people that when they smoke pot they become paranoid that alone is enough evidence for me to say no thank you. I had a friend who is also bipolar she quit smoking pot after her and her friends smoked some they were fine but she began to hallucinate.

  • @n1njapirate

I've read articles about how people find that if they smoked too much marijuana they experienced symptoms of paranoia. This makes sense since schizophrenia is thought to be caused by an excess of dopamine and THC basically floods your brain with it. Pot has some interesting applications in the field of medicine but schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders are not one of them (although I'm open to the idea if you can produce literature on the subject).

  • @Sammygirl1231 hey, i think you're replying to the wrong person. i have a psychotic spectrum disorder and i'm against use of marijuana for this purpose. @dogcharlie420 is the one who was supporting its use ;)

thanks for being in agreeance though :) nice to see someone else understands the basic neuroscience behind this notion though

  • @n1njapirate

Sorry yea that was meant for him instead I support medicinal marijuana but gets on my nerves when people claim it to be the miracle drug when it isn't.

  • @n1njapirate You need to re-educate yourself on Marijuana. You cant look at studies done 10 years ago.

  • @n1njapirate Braz J Med Biol Res, April 2006, Volume 39(4) 421-429 (Review)

  • @dogcharlie420

left comments on this video that were supposed to be directed at you but accidentally directed them to the person you were arguing against

  • @dogcharlie420 i smoked a good bit for 2.5 years and did a fair bit of psychedelics in that time. i have first-hand evidence that smoking does, 100% of the time, increase my symptoms. let me know if you have any questions or conflicting research

  • @dogcharlie420 also, sorry. the response is in reverse order

  • CAN YOU TAKE AWAY THE ADS AT THE BEGINNING? So annoying...

  • God bless you jani! ( I see she is hallucinating alot less!! )

  • Dear Parents,

God Bless you and this precious Angel Jani!

  • She's such a beautiful little girl and you seem like such a good mother. My ex had many similar issues as your daughter so I have an idea of what your going through. I'll be wishing you and your family well this holiday season.

  • So cool she's learning Mandarin! Me too!!

  • Just Wanna Let u no God Bless her And her Friend Becka

  • She's really enjoying the game.

I find it amazing that she's making a whole language.

  • @neonbrown thats chinese

  • she's such a sweetie, it's so sad that she has to deal with such a horrific mental illness :(

  • Jani seems so happy in this video :) and I love that she's learning Chinese it's adorable :)

  • When did you get a dog? Aww your dog is adorable :)

  • jani is so cute. i hope one day she will get better.

  • Not trying to be mean or anything... but you should try and learn more about the pronunciation of the Chinese numbers. I'm half chinese and so I learn it every saturday. :)

    ~ EE♥

  • @Retro80Lady30 I'm sorry, but you need some real, tangible evidence for things like demons and possession before you start applying medical treatment. People are given medication/drugs because scientists and doctors have done decades of testing. If there were evidence for demons and it was testable, doctors would be working on medical solutions to possession. But there's no evidence, so there's no justification for throwing bogus religious cures at sick people.

  • Lots of videos were posted about these people you all need to look further than this video to get the answer.

  • The girl is normal to me drugs, demons, and parents who mess her up more results in this.

  • I wonder if this is were Chutes and Ladders came from.

  • How'd you learn this? xD

  • I love Jani! =)

Who's recording the video? her mom?

    does Jani see those videos?

    You are doing well Jani!

  • haha the concept of cheating probably never entered her head until then, good job ;))

  • Bless her, when she is older her imaginary friends will be her famous friends.... hey mom, I forgive by the way, give her a break :)

  • don't let them use their psychotronic weapons to try to fix her. Madonna's "A Bedtime Story" advertises the weapon or Beck's "Novacaine." Everyone's into cocktail scalar charity these days. It's pretty bad when the schizophrenic is lucidly aware and complaining about mind control. Just a warning to Jani. There are mad doctors out there trying to "cure."

  • Greetings from Canada. The two of you are awesome parents. And Jani you are so brave and beautiful, I think of you often.

  • She's grown up so much. How old is she now? Xoxo

  • Their tones are off.... hehe.

  • she looks like shes doing very well! makes me happy :)

  • good to see she's doing well!! please post more videos!

  • why is it that a lot of people like this mother must act like a overhappy enthousiasticly kind of people..speak normal please

  • glad to know that Jani is now doing just fine. i hope you are doing alright.

  • @conqueringthruchrist you are being funny. i think you need to grab a DSM IV book instead of the bible.

  • @conqueringthruchrist

No one said she was crazy they said she was schizophrenic there's a difference you are crazy she is sick.

  • @conqueringthruchrist stop posting this trash. theres a huge difference between mental illness and being demon posessed. im sure the family is doing JUST FINE in their spiritual beliefs. its people like you that make us real christians look like total freaks.

  • @AlleyKatze Where did I say she's demon possessed? I said demons are attacking her. Most true Christians would be able to discern that immediately. There is a spiritual battle raging all around us and if your'e not aware of that, I suggest opening up your Bible...studying and most importantly seeking God to be truly born again, not just saying a little prayer, going to church on Sunday, then living however you want the rest of the time, thinking that makes you right with God.

  • @conqueringthruchrist Perhaps you would recommend an exorcism? May I remind you that this is the 21st century. Because of the "demons attacking" BS, YOUR people formed an Inquisition several centuries ago, tortured and killed mental patients and burned innocent people on the stake. Prayer is not going to help much with neurochemical imbalance in the brain. The Bible is great, but it has been written, re-written and re-translated over 2000 years. So how can reading the stories help?

  • @conqueringthruchrist Look, January has been officially diagnosed as suffering with Childhood Schizophrenia. Schizophrenia and all types of psychosis (and all other illness classed under mental health) are really illnesses. If you had been in my psychiatric ward I'm sure many of the people in there, particularly ...

  • @conqueringthruchrist ...those with DID would have seemed 'attacked by demons'. They are not being attacked in a spiritual sense. I'm also sure that the raving religious-obsessed schizophrenics you would have released as having 'called out to Jesus'. They are actually delusional and incredibly dangerous to themselves and often others. Psychology s a science. I can see that as a christian. Please stop being offensive and giving christians a name for being beligerant misunderstaning people.

  • @conqueringthruchrist You are so stupid, if you think praying is going to help then you really are. No demons aren't attacking her, if demons were attacking her then she would be in a lot worser condition. I swear to God, every christian is a real life stereotype. Quit reading that fantasy book of yours.

  • @MrCrazyguy145 Who are you to tell someone not to read the Bible you can't even talk because you don't even know what is written in it. Demons come in many forms animals are one form. Any imaginary friend that tells you to harm people is not a friend obviously. These people clearly are underestimating their daughter. If you can get as little faith as a mustard seed by all means cast them out in Jesus name. How are you to know it is not true if you can't even have the nerve to at least try.

  • @Retro80Lady30 First of all they're not "imaginary friends", they're hallucinations, they are not demons. You dumb ass christians always want to shove your assy religion in to people's face.

  • @MrCrazyguy145 I can type whatever I want to believe just because you don't believe it doesn't mean I can't call out what I think it is. I honestly don't care who reads my posts I have a right to an opinion like everyone else. If your going to get that mad about it than it must be true because only the truth hurts people. Thanks alot for keeping my faith stronger. Children are not mentally ill there is more to it than meets the eye.

  • @Retro80Lady30 No, I'm getting mad because this fucking religion is part of our culture. Their son Boadie has autism, doesn't that explain it? It's about the genetics and chromosomes of the family.

  • @MrCrazyguy145 We are all being poisoned none of these things existed years ago.

  • @Retro80Lady30 Children can become mentally ill; mental illness knows no of age or gender or anything else just as another disease or illness. Wat u post can b hurtful & not all truths just hurt people; lies and hate can damage and hurt people too. Please stop saying such things like she has demons possessing her and that her parents are like abusing her. I'm a believer of Christ and all I see is a child that is ill & n need of help & prayer n getting better n this sad disease.

  • @Retro80Lady30 referances from the book of Mark? Demons are well, I believe that but this child is not possessed. She is ill and need of medicine and compassion, something a True believer as you claim to be should give willingly and whole heartly. Saying ugly horrid things helps no one, want to be a believer, act like christ, jerk.

  • @greafleafninjasrulz I don't know what you think was so horrible. For peats sake I come on here with an opinion of what I think it is and you all get upset about it. I really don't care the problem I see is that kids need love not medicine thrown at them I think kids are quick to be labeled instead of finding out what the issue is. I used to be in the system that is all they give you is pills nothing else.

  • @MrCrazyguy145 You just contradicted yourself you said if demons were attacking her she would be in much worse condition then you say the Bible is a fantasy book when it talks about demons. You don't even know what you believe.

  • @Retro80Lady30 Your either a troll or a complete idiot.

  • @Retro80Lady30 Wow, it's called a hypothetical. A person can talk about demons and their effects without actually believing they exist.

  • @conqueringthruchrist I think you have a mental issue the way you are babbling out this shit! >.>

  • She did seem to slip there for an instant, but came back .

  • that's so cool that you're teaching her mandarin! wow, good idea because she seems like she has an interest in languages

  • 2:51 Jani's thinking "Oh man, I totally could have not told her." Haha JK!

  • aww it makes me sooo happy when people learn to speak my native language. chinese is really hard to pronounce so a lot of people don't even bother. its good when young kids start learning languages early because once you get older, it gets harder for people who have only learned one language to distinguish between the sounds.

  • awww I love you Jani!! You guys are SUCH wonderful parents, I'd love to meet your family someday. I used to live in Newhall and went to William S. Hart high school.

  • she's such a smart girl! great to see she's doing well :) xxoo

  • Cool mat! Looks like fun. Not sure how mom keeps up- seems a bit complex. Funny how kids just catch on to games. While I don't know your family, I do mention you in my prayers:)

  • looks like Jani is doing better. (:

and she looks she is having fun playing with mommy.

but i did notice that she did get somewhat distracted, with what i assume, was a hallucination, but she seem to pull herself back and keep playing the game.

Jani is such a sweet girl and may angel always protect her. (:

    <3

  • @isabellaannerose123 I don't think it was a hallucination, i think she didn't understand her mum for a second, and was trying to figure out what she meant was the mum being sarcastic? but then the mum told her she did fine:), even non schizophrenic children are confused about comments some times

  • @Nouri8885

You're probably right on that one also schizophrenics have a hard time reading people and understanding sarcasm

  • @Indigo. Okay. Sleep is not really an issue for Jani anymore. Bodhi, on the other hand... And yes what you are hearing in the background is the filters for our turtle tanks.

  • @JaniFoundation You're a good mother, even though people are saying otherwise.

  • @reidrules45 Same here those haters don't understand like I do. I mean they can't even label my disorder that's how bad it is. In fact many of the doctors said I was bipolar and some said "Oh it's just Depression". And most common for me is he's just got anger problems. So yeah don't get backed into a corner. These nut jobs are losers who like harming peoples lives.

  • Mommy doesn't really know how to play does she Jani, your a good girl

telling her when she messes up !!

    Susan,Michael,how is she sleeping?

  • what is that continous water noise in the background is that a fish tank?

  • BTW Chinese people eat cats and dogs and Jani is a animal lover

just saying,it's true not kidding they do!!

  • @IndigoCat17 You do know that not ALL Chinese people "eat cats and dogs", right? Not cool to judge a whole race of people on the actions of a few.

  • Smarty Pants, good to see she is still doing well.

    She is so cute <3
