  • How neat.. Now I am envious.. Enjoy your new gun:-)

  • Minnesota, hm? Did you have a shop here import it for you, or how did you acquire it? I'm in the market for one of these.

  • @SevenSixTwoNato I bought it online from classicarms then had it shipped to a FFL in my area.

  • Aaaah! I just got a wonderful flash back of when I opened my lil bundle of joy!!!!! Mine came in a thick yellow plastic bag.

  • I remember when i opened my saiga for the first time, greatest feeling ever.

  • Do you live in California? This is the only gun that I found is most similar to a real AK47 with all parts and mechanism. Except they made it into a sports gun. T_T

  • To all the people talking about filing down magazines, just get it converted and problem solved

  • why is there a bullet hole in the box?

  • @Palillos1337 During shipping, the bolt poked through the box.

  • Lol mine is gonna be from Russia to Minnesota!

  • So if you file down the magazine catch on the rifle itself, its just as good as trying to modify the tab on the magazines? Because if that is the case, I think I would rather modify the rifle itself, so I wont have to modify every new magazine I buy.

  • @TheMedievalMan Filing down the magazine tabs only works on very specific magazines. To get the rifle to accept standard AK-47 magazines, you must modify the rifle -- usually by adding a bullet guide which requires first drilling a hole inside the trunnion. My preference was to make the 30 second modification to the Thermold magazines, because they're cheap and reliable, but of course it's your choice.

  • will that accept ak mags?

  • @BlackSabbath1204 Not without modifications made to either the gun or the magazine. There are some 30 round magazines it will accept without modification, but not many.

  • @TheHiltnerds

What are the mags that it will accept that are 30 rnds?

  • @BlackSabbath1204 ProMag makes one, as does Master Molder/Thermold (with a slight bit of filing to the safety catch on the magazine).

  • What kind of 7.62 ammunition works the best in the Saiga from your experience?

  • @roadrager71 If you don't care about reloading, buy the cheapest you can find. The Saiga loves all kinds of 7.62 ammunition.

  • I love russian firearms i am 12 i have a glock19 and a gsg ak .22 but this is the gun i asked for xmas do u mind telling me what u paid for this firearms...and anyone who replies saying cod nerd fuck u becuz i have been shooting since i was 5 and trust me i know how to shoot and i know gun safety..

  • @GIWolfGI Cool.I got a Saiga 7.62x39.My dad and i bought a 30 round magazine for it.Make sure it's a surefire magazine.Promag=Projunk.And you should then order a TAPCO t6 stock set.Look it up it's pretty cool.

  • Comment removed

  • @VolunteerMinimum it requires no conversion.Look it up on Youtube it's worth the buy.

  • @GIWolfGI I paid $250 for mine, but that was a few years ago. I don't think they can be found for that cheap anymore.

  • @GIWolfGI hey if your are still looking for a cheaper Saiga check out J&G Sales, they have 4 different calibers of Saiga on sale right now, each one $300. Also try cursing less when defending yourself on the internet especially as a 12 year old, makes you seem more mature and confident and people will be less likely to ignore you.

  • @derkrieger92 Oh cool dude thanks i didnt even realize i cursed i think it was my iipods stupid spell check ull be surprised what words it changes

  • @100silverpizza This was explained in the video's description.

  • ignoring the troll beneath me, this is a very nice looking rifle, hope to get my hands on one myself.

  • How much does it cost? I've heard from russian sources thats not even a real gun, because russia's gun laws hasnt even made a national liberation of arms... dude ure an idiot, you could have got anything better at any gun store in minneapolis.

  • @alejandronskiy Could you please send me the address of the gun store in Minneapolis that sells newly manufactured, high-quality, Kalashnikov-endorsed 7.62x39 rifles for under $250? I'd like to buy 100! Thanks in advance!

  • @TheHiltnerds why dont u look over in academy shithead. 1. thats not an ak47 thats some smoothbore airsoft shit 2. i never said for a lower price, so reread or learn to read. 3. u cant buy 100 ak47s thats against the NFA. 4. Suck it!... Ure welcome :)

  • @alejandronskiy lol no laws against how many guns you can buy.

  • @alejandronskiy yea bro, you have "russian sources", did they also tell you that this rifle is "not even real".

I hope they informed you that it is not unlawful, neither here or in Russia, to import or export firearm componentes, as long as they are not assembled into a working rifle. Look up Arsenal Inc.

  • badass gun

  • where can you get the mounts for a AK

  • @75ranger45 A mount for a scope? Just about anywhere. Amazon, MidwayUSA, CDNN.

  • I love it!! Watched this vid just to see what I will feel like Friday when I pick up mine!! Love it!!!

  • @killjoy4376 Enjoy! Welcome to the club.

  • the .223/5.56 version is the one i want. the gun itself is about 350 and can be easily converted with a Magnolia State Armory Saiga 233 AR Mag well to accept AR-15 Magazines. it costs 75 bucks.

  • is that real

  • Wow it looks like and early christmas/ lol nice rifle. I would get the same one instead of the knock offs myself:) ENJOY.

  • Does it have an effective range larger than the AK assault rifle?

If not, why bother even purchasing one?

  • @SamPD2 Reason Number 1: It's an authentic, Russian-made, Kalashnikov-endorsed weapon, designed and constructed in the historical Izhmash factory, and as close as most of us will ever get to a 'real' AK-47, not just some Romanian-made aftermarket-altered knock-off.

Reason Number 2: See Reason Number 1.

  • @TheHiltnerds I see. But has it been tweaked in some way so as not to drastically alter it, but give it the range of a dedicated rifle? I like Kalashnikovs, but it seems that... Well they are nerfed if you only get a regular AK that only has the semi auto for obvious reasons. For that, I want it to be compensated with something in return for stripping the automatic function.

  • @SamPD2

Reason Number 3: After ignition of the final round in the magazine the bolt will stay open allowing for easy magazine exchange; changing AK magazines without this feature can be difficult to do as it requires holding the bolt open with one hand.

Reason Number 4: Chromel lined barrel

  • I also chose the 7.62 over the 308. A 308 is great for a bolt action rifle IMO but they can get a little spendy when you're pumping them through a semi auto. You can find a 1000 rounds of 7.72 for 200 to $275. 308 is going to run you 400 to $600 for the same amount!!

  • This has less power than a .308? I didn't know that. Looks good though :D I am getting a Remington 700 .308 :D

  • @piplup10203854 .308=7.62x51. so 7.62x39 is gonna be less powerful.

  • @turboboy0 Oooh alright thanks

  • Have you done a 922r conversion yet?

  • @stnls1911 no such thing as a 922r conversion.there is a law 922r that states once you start changing parts on these weapons you can not have more than 10 imported parts on the list in the weapon.changing to a us made mag counts towards 3 pieces and doing the trigger conversion counts as 3 also. those alone make the weapon 922r compliant and by changing the stock and adding a pistol grip you just make it even more so.

  • Does the 762by 39. Have stopping power

  • @Damian1975 Plenty of power, but it's no 308.

  • @Damian1975 aaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahah are you serious?

  • i have been wondering whether to get this rifle in 308 or the orginal 762x39?

  • @Damian1975 Tough choice. 7.62 will be cheaper and more plentiful, but definitely more power in a 308. Get both?

  • @Damian1975 get the 7.62x39 because the ammo is only $100 for 660 surplus rounds. Get the M1A for the .308 because it a far more accurate gun for those longer shots.

  • they dont ship them from russia to your door, they go from russia to an importer, importer to distrubuter, distrubuter to gun shop/website gunshop to you

the one i bought has been in the country for almost a year.

  • i love that the charging handle on the right side made a whole all the way through the box lol mine did the same i guess it was ready to come on out

  • In Soviet Russia, rifle owns YOU!

  • Lame that it won't accept hi caps unless you make alterations.

  • @Robertjcksn40 I agree with you, but that's the price you pay for a legitimate Kalashnikov-approved rifle.

  • @TheHiltnerds I was dissappointed myself when i found out about the modifications needed to accept certain parts on the saiga. But i couldn't be any more satisfied that it is an authentic Kalashnikov from the original factory!

  • @Robertjcksn40

All you have to do is *maybe* get a bullet guide and file down the mag catch a bit.

  • @Robertjcksn40 Pro-mag makes Hi-cap mags especially for these rifles.

  • @Robertjcksn40 all you need to do is buy or make a bullet guide and then drill and tap a hole to install it. not hard to do.

  • thats a pretty fckin awesome rifle man

  • how much did it cost you to ship it to minnesota, i live in St.paul?

  • @SniparSkills I believe I was charged $15-20.

  • @TheHiltnerds cool thanks

  • Nice rifle!!! I want one!! I just bought a ruger 10/22 is fun but I want the real deal!

  • @FenixXeon Give in to your gun-buying desires!

  • its a nice pice

  • Im jealous

  • is the rifle for sale

  • @firewoodguy2009 Not mine. Selling guns is against my nature.

  • where did you get your saiga? was it a store or a website or somthing? Also if it was a store where did you go to find a store that sold them?

  • @misoharny Bought it online and had it shipped to a local shop. If you do a Google search for Classic Arms, it's the first site that comes up. Don't judge them by their site design. I paid $249 at the time, but now they are $339. Still a good value for an authentic Russian made weapon, in my opinion.

  • @TheHiltnerds Thats the good thing about Russian products, they're cheap to make over there but really you're buying something that has way more quality than what you're paying for. God Bless them Russians lol

  • where did you go to purchase that sagia? was it a website or a store or what? Also if it was a store where did you go to find a store that distributes them?

  • Nice, you got one with dimples

  • @og1012 I got lucky. It was just random chance, but I'm not complaining.

  • Can you put a tapco trigger in a Saiga? and if so, will it help?

  • @SavageArms357 Lots of people replace the factory trigger with a G2 and just about everyone seems to love the upgrade. If you do a Google search for "Saiga 12" you'll get to one of the best forum resources for upgrading all the different Saiga rifle/shotgun variations -- including the best way to upgrade to the G2.

  • @TheHiltnerds Thank you very much!

  • just got one from ammo bros. 400 even. plus tax. ready to convert the fucker.

  • I am thoroughly disappointed. I was expecting you to one-up the nintendo 64 kid, jump up on the table, and yell "saiga x 3 NIIIIINE!" and freak out.

+1 for classic arms. I did pay the "inflated" price, but as mine was 'ready to go' for the conversion with no extra modification req'd (knock out some rivets, pop off the floorplate, and BAM! AK-103 receiver minus bullet guide), I didn't mind paying $340. $60 would've got me a Romanian knockoff, but I'd rather have a REAL Kalashnikov.

  • @zchris87v *$60 more, I meant to say. If I could get a wasr-10 for $60, I'd DEFINITELY take it.

  • @zchris87v I agree 100% on the Kalashnikov comments.

Sorry I didn't do any jumping and screaming...

  • they sure don't splurge with the packaging

  • what is the legal age to purchase a ak in texas?

  • @thepoopstinks1, 18 years old.

  • Just picked up the full AK convert from Arsenal arms using this recever....check out the vid.

  • Where did you buy it at?

  • I can't post a direct link, but if you Google search Classic Arms, that's the place. They still have them, but they are about $100 more now than what I paid. Still a good deal, in my opinion for a Russian-made, Kalashnikov-endorsed weapon.

  • I just ordered one in 5.45 from them. I pick it up from my ffl tomorrow. I can't wait! it was 340 for the rifle.

  • Enjoy!

  • What you paid for that marvelous pice of russian enginering?

  • @Wilyes $249. Wish I could go back in time and by more of them at that price.

  • Hehe i wish the same. But this is cheaper than the most other rifles and and a bit more relyable so its my 1st choice. Also i can go to a antique weapons dealer later and get a drum magazine for around 20 bucks and most of them are old leftovers from russia and some other countries. So parts are easy to find and cheap on thease guns. thats what i like. Only is the norwegian price but its cheaper than the normal hunting rifles and more relyable.

  • And a tip for your next vid pick up the gun and fondle it a bit people like that ;)

  • nice vid dude im about to turn 18 and plan on buying one of these. i bet your wife thinks your wierd for making these vids tho lol.

  • My wife is the one holding the camera. She's very understanding.

  • dude i rly like the vid thanks for posting it

  • i have the same exact one!! i bought mine for 350 came with a sling, 3 mags 1 5 round mag and 2 25 round mags and i love it!!! shot over 1000 rounds through it no malfunction i clean it about every 50 rounds and its perfect for caribou hunting here in alaska!! i bring it on every hunting trip killed a caribou at 200 yards no problem ordered the trijicon scope and its just a bad ass rifle id recommend it for anyone!!

  • I did the same thing last weekend. (Opened up a new Saiga) It was a good day.

  • i have owned a few AKs but never a sporter model. there are some real good gun smiths who can put a pistol grip on there for ya, and make it look stock.

  • I've had the conversion planned for a while, but to this point have kept it in its original form. I'm plenty happy with it as it is.

  • 20.47inch barrel? is it heavy? whats the overall fit and finish?

  • 16 inch barrel on mine. It's not overly heavy, in my opinion. It's has a real nice look and feel right out of the box. It's not like one of the 7.62 variations you pick up that look like they were put together by Dr Frankenstein.

  • nice! does it come with the left side mounted scope base for mounting soviet scopes?

  • It's there.

  • ok. is it for a v-clamp(ak) scope or a dragunov scope? the dragunov base has a horizontal channel groove along the center of that scope base and no vertical channel.

  • from russia with love.

  • i got a wichester wildcat from russia and it was completley coverd with oil

  • Nice pick up! Only thing I have to ask is did you read in the manual how toxic that paper wrapping is? It warns you not to touch your face after touching the paper, and the best way to dispose of it is to burn it.... and you unwrapped in on your dining room table!!!!

  • Funny you should mention this. Ever since that day, I've had the strange desire to lead a bayonet charge into an entrenched machine gun position...

Oh, and I can see through walls.

  • HAHA!! I don't know what is on the paper that makes it that toxic, or if it even is. But, the way I see it, anything coming from Russia that has that much warning should be burned, anyway.

As a side note, I am going tonight with a friend of mine to our local FFL to pick up HIS new 7.62 x 39!

Whatta kick ass platform the Saiga is. :)

  • Nice. Enjoy it though him.

  • Izhmash certainly has a reputation to live up to as the original manufacturer of the AK47, plus the fact that Kalashnikov still works there means that things get done right. The Saiga may be the sporting version of the AK, but it's still made to the same standards.

  • The fact that my money might somehow end up in Kalashnikov's pocket (rather than some manufacturer in Romania) helped convince me to buy the Saiga.

  • Alright fello MN shooter! I've been contemplating getting one of these recently. Any suggestions?

  • Yeah, get one. It's as close to a Russian AK you can get for a decent price. A lot of people convert them, but I've left mine. It's still lots of fun right out of the box.

  • Thanks for the info....enjoy your nice saiga....

  • good video thanks for sharing it..

  • The Saiga is most def the loudest AK i've heard, i got 3 30rd promags, and a red/green dot reticle sight on the top, looks badass enough for me with the 7.62 stopping power..

  • So i see you have the saiga rifle, with the dimples on the receiver, can i ask where did you order it?

Excellent video....never seen unboxing of a rifle on youtube....think you started something.....lol

  • I got it online at Classic Arms. The dimples were a surprise to me. They weren't advertised and I didn't ask for them. It was just luck of the draw.

  • I love that they still wrap stuff in oiled paper. It's how stuff used to come in the US 40 years ago.

  • I looked at these in the shop and I didn't think they were as nice looking as my

MAK-90s but I think I might just get one because it's Russian made.

  • It's not pretty. But it doesn't need to be.

  • Is it an AK47 variant? couldn't quite tell from video

  • Yes it's a civilian version of the AKM.

  • It's more real than a lot of AK-47s out there, because it's made in Russia by Russians, under the supervision of Mikhail Kalashnikov.

  • That's true, but it isn't the best AK I think. The MAK-90 has a thicker reciever and barrel then that of the Saiga.

  • Not the best? Each night, every Saiga rifle is tucked into bed at the factory by Kalashnikov himself. In the morning, he holds each one in his arms and feeds them a bottle of gun oil and Russian Vodka.

  • Mmmmm, drunk baby AK-47s. That could either be really good or really bad.

  • Ahh the good ol' original! nice gun. Is the receiver milled or stamped?

  • Stamped.

  • These are GREAT rifles.. I only paid 225$ for mine, new in the box. God knows what they get for them now.

  • $255 for me, in the box. Best deal I ever got.

  • That's pretty awesome. I got mine here in Los Angeles about a year ago for $399. You should have read the booklet with the information on your rifle and how the test shooting went at the factory.

  • these dont come packed in cosmolin do they thats what i hated about my sks but either way i'll still get a saiga 308

  • No. Just wonderful, authentic Russian gun oil.

  • No there is no cosmoline.

  • Great unboxing did you buy it online??

  • Nice video. Short & sweet. I still need to take mine out... maybe next week.

  • Does that rifle come with a cleaning rod that goes under the hand guard

  • I cried. :P

  • Actually someone has videoed themselves opening there saiga AK here on youtube, but its always nice to see an AK anyway :)

  • If someone beat me to it, I didn't see it. The more the merrier!

  • all i can say is, ABOUT TIME! if you get any more real weapons please post the unboxing, :)

  • I have one as well. I live in Commie California, so at this point its the next best thing. No Pistol Grip and only 10 round mag :(

  • yeah,ca has some fucked up gun laws, way to strickt.

  • that's because California is a joke of a state and an embarrassment to the USA

  • this is actually a really cool video. I'm glad you made it. It always reminds me of the first time I got my WASR-10/63. :) Happy feelings and joyous affections.

  • Does it have a stamped or milled reciever?

  • Stamped

  • To further expand on being stamped; Saiga's are Russian built civilian AKMs. Supposedly starting this summer there are going to be 5.45x39 rifles imported which would technically be civilian AK-74s.

  • Not really AKM as they are based off of the AK100 series (90* gas block etc.). They also use the smaller AK74 BCG.

  • Strange, when I got my Saiga the box had a hole in the very same spot. I guess they need to make the box a bit deeper so the bolt doesn't poke through.

  • It sucks it they give you a 10rd mag and no pistol grip. Where did you order it?

  • Those features would add 300 bucks at least to the price, especially for a quality Russian made AK. That's why people buy these and convert them.

  • Yea I'm getting my converted as soon as I get the rest of my parts. All I need now is my CBS and I can send it off to get converted. Don't know how much it's gonna cost. I payed $400 for mine. I spent at least $500+ for accessories.

  • SWEEEEEEEET!!!!

  • Oh shit, this is a real rifle, I thought it was airsoft, nice rifle though.

  • Airsoft gun chambered in 7.62 lol?

  • yours has mag dents. my 223 saiga doesn't have those :-( what year was yours made? it should say in one of the books it came with.

  • ohhh lol now i under stand how it works i might sound of being dumb but is that a real gun or a airsoft because you where in the airsoft catergoreas.....lol!!!!

  • did you need a C&R license? i bought a Mosin Nagant and forgot about the license deal, and it probably won't ship, but if you do, how long did it take to get one processed and whatever. i heard it takes like 2 weeks, sometimes a few months, but maybe that's for the FFL license.

  • i am gonna buy one. good video!

  • I picked one up yesterday as well, great rifles for the money. Looks like you are missing a cleaning rod though..... not like you would ever use it anyway.

  • The cleaning rod was still in the box -- I just got too excited when I was opening it and I forgot to look for it.
