  • Playing enya at the same time=ultimate death scene

  • i would be kinda pissed off , if they did all this shit to me .

  • It would have been cooler if it was a massive trampoline instead

  • Yeah, this movie really had a WTMFFFFFFFFFF factor.

  • Really Epic

  • I Love this Movie

  • I would love to play this game with my brother for his birthday

  • Awesome, fun movie...but absolutely horrible...the man willing committed suicide...he wouldn't be okay living with that...people trying to justify his experience as a good thing are full of horse shit...there is no justification, just that it was a movie and we can let it go and be happy it entertained us and made us think...one of a kind

  • Just finished this movie. Seriously, one of the worst endings ever IMO, which is really disappointing, seeing as I loved everything leading up to it. Just really let down...

  • @thenextbigthing100 remember earlier in movie just when you think the game is over its just beginning, the end of the movie is just the beginning of the game

  • MAN WTF. IF I WAS HIM ID PUNCH HIM LIGHTS OUT BYE BYE. INSTEAD HE HUGGED HIM WTF. WOW. WOW WOW WOW. WOOOOOW. >.<

  • Ridiculous ending.

  • i love this movie ,, what a great story and game ..

  • The relationship between the two brothers is so beautiful. The paternal love is so touching. I especially love the street scene between Penn and Douglas. No one could have played this role better than Douglas just the same as no one could have made this movie so perfectly as Fincher. Just class A, adult film at its best. This is definitely one of my favorite movies of all times. I've watched it more than 50 times, each time I discover something new that I hadn't seen. Fincher is brilliant.

  • @drizzy009 Same here, I couldn't have wrote it better.

  • One of the best endings I've ever seen

  • me encanta esta película y su mensaje, y esta escena es de las mejores

  • I'd shoot him again...

  • This movie is really good.. really really good. It has a lot of twists and it's logical but not logical at all

  • That glass can sting, you know.

  • This is the most of two epic endings iv ever seen. When i really didnt know what gonna happen , i mean is it really game or this guy fckd up and is being followed by someone. The second movie is The Good The Bad The Ugly , when i didnt know will Good leave Bad dying ir he will save him

  • Yes...."Happy" Birthday.... that's right....

  • I was shocked by this ending, and I don't care if it is realistic or not. This movie was so well done by David Fincher, it's so well made. The mood that he creates with editing and lighting and music and cinematography is just breathe taking ! I was engrossed the whole movie, thrilled too, I don't care much for the ending, the process or journey is much more important to me.

  • i had good expectations for the movie but it turned out to be quite a joke...wayyy too far fetched and completely unrealistic....what if he didn't bring the handle for the taxi's window ?

  • what if he jumped off another side of the roof =P

  • @tonedeffdestroyer21

I´m asking me this question since i saw that movie ! :D

  • Here is the real twist ending! Michael Douglas actually killed his brother, killed himself, and the party he falls into is actually his ideal afterlife - an afterlife where him and his ex get along, in which everybody loves and respects him, in which he has all his money back, etc. How do I know this? He hugs his brother... who has a gunshot wound on his BACK! Squibs don't explode through you. Also, at 7:42, who is that guy on the far left side of the screen, who looks like Gandolf? Thoughts?

  • @shitsandgigglesforu

Um, why he has a gunshot on his back... BECAUSE HE STILL HAD THE SPECIAL EFFECTS ON HIM?? What if he turned him around while he was lying there, it had to look convincing.

Why should he have a wound if they're in the afterlife?

Yea, him shooting his brother was part of the plan - otherwise they wouldn't have fucking blasted open the door without protection from a crazy dude with a gun.

They did it because the gun was harmless and the plan was to get him to jump. The end.

The end.

  • @shitsandgigglesforu His brother has the gunshot wound cuz they planned it in some way...everything was always planned...I think you're making a grander twist than the actual stupid non realistic ending from a movie

  • The Guy would have pushed him off the good side since that's what was suppose to happen anyway

  • What if he didn't jump from that side of the building ?

  • @BankzZ89

Exactly. He would have been stone cold death. I think there would be many casualties playing this "game". You can't control someones actions all the time.

Would love to play though :)))

  • @BankzZ89 the guy was going to throw him off

  • @ihatetryhardsincod1 Not what I was asking.

  • @BankzZ89 oh im sorry did u mean the side that wasnt meant for him to jump off of?

  • @BankzZ89 the survey in the beginning made them position it that way

  • @BankzZ89 not get happend

  • @BankzZ89 they were going to throw him off 8:11

  • This film is constructed perfectly from the eye of fincher, in the hands of anyone else the safety net wouldnt be revealed until the very last moment rather he gives us the stunning visual of the camera almost on the ground looking up at the glass ceiling as we see his body fall through it and as he gets closer one by one we see the faces of his friends/family/coworkers appear around him its really stunning and blew my mind first time watching

  • ITS SPIKE JONZE!

  • the thing that killed me was the roof jump, he could of jumped anywhere it was a huge roof, but nah he lands perfectly in the small air bag.... it killed the movie for me..

  • @JohnFonts -- I thought the exact same thing!

  • @JohnFonts Remember there is always a 'safety net', so if he jumped anywhere else there would probably be some way of saving him from death. I like to think that he jumped and died but in those last fleeting moments he imagined what it would be like if it was all ok and his brother was alive :)

  • @TheScriptTV that's a really interesting way of looking at it

  • @JohnFonts Yeah but he's right though. During the credits I thought the same thing - what a load of bullshit - but after a while it's logical. There probably was nets all around the building to stop the fall. THe movie took a lot of "artistic liberty" with how plausible it is that Nicholas chose that spot to jump off but I'll forgive it.

  • Amazing, fantastic ending. Musical score is perfect, very moving

  • this movie sucked, nobody would take things that far as a "Game so I thought it was dumb, so far fetched that it didn't even have an emotional attachment. I thought it was boring almost stopped watching it too.

  • I just lost The Game

  • Just go to the gun store and kill everyone you see....End of game.

  • 8:10 Listen to what Finegold says!

  • I did not see this Ending Coming, a really good twist

  • @lilbunch

because it was part of the game

  • what if he jumped off the wrong ledge/

  • Watched this the other night, was totally gripped by it,it is weird ,clever, stupid senseless,he still chats up that girl at the end even after she drugged him and left him for dead in Mexico??Its a very obtuse idea that really works on film, personally me i would have gone to the real police, because the crs broke the law ALL the time.lolz..

  • @sysrq120 thats the thing though. everyone was in on "the game" so hes fucked either way

  • YOU GOT PUNK'D!

  • Some birthday present

  • finally a movie with a happy ending

  • I love Anna Katarina

  • what a great film, i would been so pissed if i was him

  • @alan1991nufc i think he was just so happy he didn't kill his brother that nothing mattered lol

  • Anyone want to guess what the bill was? My guess would be around 5 million?

  • @0ucantstopme0 take out the actors' salaries off the film budget and there goes your bill.

  • To call this just "a good movie ending" is not profound enough. This was amazing. Words are not enough. I remember thinking when he jumped that this sucks, he's killed himself. Just amazing.

  • Words you don't hear everyday about a suicide: "Thank GOD you jumped, because if you didn't I was supposed to throw you over!" HA!

  • Will all that said, still one of my favorite movies.

  • This movie takes the concept "Birthday's Party surprise" to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL.

  • What a movie.

  • what if he jumped from the other side?

  • @firetopman LOL LOL!

I think about it EVERYTIME I watch the ending, like "whew Nick"

  • @firetopman I know right? There are about a million moments in the movie like that though, just don't think too much and enjoy the ride.

  • Imagen that if this were happen to a real guy taking part of this game but the maker happens to be a soldier who's seen a lot of combat in war, the "CRS" have pushed the maker over the edge too much and then they got themselfs a real problem. The Maker use his combat training against them with using real guns with real bullets & grenades then the whole buliding would become a warzone fighting with actors.

But this is my way of thinking of what if in real life..what if..?

  • @wildmann23 that would be lame

  • The writer of this movie must have popped a white rabbit pill to pull this twisted and crazy plot out of his ass.

  • Ohhhh..Man!

i don't know what i do if this were happen to me and after taking part of the "Scared Tactics" Game and i've jump off the roof and crash through of glass then landed on a air bag. Seeing everyone i know at a dinner party and see my bro alive and showing me my b-day present..don't know if i give him a hug and accept my gift or give him my right hook then walk out tell them they can have their party without me...but i would stick around and enjoy my party and be reborn like nicholas.

  • What kind of stupid game was this? Yeah that was great how they locked him in a taxi and drove his ass into the ocean! Lucky the bastard came out alive.Even worse they drugged him and left him in a mexican cemetery! Could have been killed over there too.Movie was good but too wacky and far fetched for my senses. Happy Birthday!! Please just give me a cake and a a set of new tools for my birthday.

  • @josemezatorrez Ha ha for real!

  • @josemezatorrez That girl said that there was lots of divers underwater, so he couldn't die. I bet he was protected in Mexico, too.

  • @josemezatorrez Its true the amount of resources to keep this guy alive was crazy. Talk about the ending when he jumped off and the part where he was with the ocean. At the end of the movie they give him his bill and he himself was shocked too!

  • @josemezatorrez lol!

  • I almost cried at 3:00

  • @rangekiller109

    Why?

  • They originally didn't plan that ending, you can tell. 1. when she said "oh god" when she realized he was going to jump wasn't acting because he wouldn't have heard him. 2. how did they know he was going to jump off in that exact spot? what if he jumped from the other side of the roof? There are a couple things wrong with it which tells me they originally had something else planned. Never the less, it's a great movie and a great ending!

  • stupid ending... alternate and better ending= Nicholas van Orton die

  • there is no fucking way any person would approve of this after, never mind pay for it

  • So how did they know, he is going to jump?

Fincher is an overrated director. It's a decent movie but with a flawed premise.

  • @gotchewz You're wrong. This is an overrated film. Fincher is one of the greatest modern directors.

  • @Caljayc

Fincher did some great movies: Fight Club and Seven. But movies like The Game, Alien 3 and Benjamin Button are not really a testamony of FInchers talent.

One of the greatest modern directors is Arronofsky. He had so far only one decent movie "The Fountain" and even that one is still pretty good.

But just look at Requiem, Pi, Wrestler and Black Swan. All masterpieces.

Comparing Fincher to Arronofsky, Fincher IS overrrated.

  • @gotchewz Well, I think he is. And you're right about Aronofsky, he is an amazing director. Do you like Paul Thomas Anderson's films?

  • @Caljayc

Absolutely. A very good director. Had some great movies. Especially Magnolia, Tom Cruise best performance to date. I think he got an Oscar nomination for it.

Well, at least Daniel Day-Lewis got the Oscar.

I a way Anderson achieves what Aronofsky achieves as well: Namely putting an emphasis on good actors and let them shine through.

I still think Ellen Burstyn should have gotten the oscar.

  • @gotchewz Totally agree, she was amazing. My mum was a drug addict too, Ellen portrayed addiction spot on.

  • @gotchewz well, for me this is a great movie too, also you forgot the Social Network a generational portrait... i think the only big mistake in his career was the panic room... yeah, may be Arronofsky is one of the best directors nowdays too, but we can't deny that Fincher has talent ( even compared to Arronofsky)

  • @TheIveet Panic Room was definately not the big mistake in his career. I don't think he ever made a big mistake. Panic Room was great, well received and made a lot of money too.

  • @adrianlindsaylohan Panic Room was excellent, Fincher hasn't made a mistake in his career to date, even alien3 wasnt his fault

  • @gotchewz Look at 8:13 and it will make sense.

  • @gotchewz I think that depends on how you read it. For me, the ending of "The Game" is no more reliable than the ending of "Taxi Driver."

  • what is the name of the credits song

  • @shillihp White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane.

  • The Moral of The Boy Who Cried Wolf applies here :)

  • I lost The Game.

  • 6:44 WIN

  • some birthday present.....

  • Why did they give the brother an exit wound special effect on his back. Is it just me or is it possible that this is his depiction of heaven and he really did fall to his death?

  • so they knew EXACTLY where he would fall

and they knew that he wouldn't should himself in the head, but drop the gun and jump?

the movie was fun but beyond contrived.

  • @septip123 the gun was fake

  • @septip123 I think at 8:14 that guy said that he should have throwed him of the roof, so they knew where he was going to fall.

  • @liamverbinnen but it's all so crazy, don't you think. It's fun as hell to watch, but you really have to suspend your disbelief.

What if he killed himself in Mexico? Was there someone there, too????

  • @septip123 It's a movie :) But you're right, it's not a very realistic movie.

  • @septip123 Why would he kill himself in Mexico? They knew only killing a family member could do that to him.

  • @septip123 if you are a little intelligent you should know that all of this "CRS" knew because of all those questions and tests he took before the game, they know his "psyche" and how he's thinking, derived from his anwsers.

  • hahaha i remember watching this when i was a kid but i didn't finish the last part, i just saw the part when he shot his brother then i left bc i thought the movie was over. wow, this changes everything

  • That was the most sadistic, sick birthday ever.

  • @djunior874 The most sadistic, sick Birthday? You could look at it that way....or perhaps he was given the lesson to appreciate his life as it was. Hmmmm, now THAT's a gift! (just a thought from the bucket's half full club)

  • @imaginetheresno, I like your take. It certainly seems a far more relevant take on what happened in the film.

  • @imaginetheresno

hm why does this comment remind me of SAW movies?

  • Best. Birthday. Ever.

  • man i love this moive but after going through nearly dieing being drugged then left dead for mexico dont have money him being watched most of the time i would have been both pissed off and confused but it was a good ending.

  • this man just faced his own death and then he is supposed to have a good time at his party?

  • lol it's ridiculous how far they would go just to throw a birthday party.

  • Es- pec-ta- cu-lar wowwwwww!

Possibly one of the 5 best movies in the last 20 years

  • it makes me cry when I see him hug his brother. Such a terrific scene.

  • who know music at the end? when subtitles running?

  • @ArcPV Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit

  • @ArcPV

    Jeferson Airplane - White Rabbit

  • this movie is genius

  • the new youtube has no thumbs down i would like a thumbs down so fuck all youtube and thier viewrs.lol

  • bull shit this whole movie is bull sjitt

  • @ozubier this whole comment is bullshit

  • @ozubier tushe

  • Excellent movie! But if anyone tried that with me i would have snapped and actually killed someone lol. With a knife.

  • @pdaily91 yea I bet you would psycho

  • Personally, I think all of you who say that if you were Nicholas you would've killed all these people for putting you through this crap should give it another thought. The purpose of the game is to change your life for the better. Nicholas van Orton goes from being a rich, arrogant, independent business man to a modest and social person (from what we've seen anyway) through this process.

Anyway, an extremely underrated movie with one of the best endings ever.

  • @CATsponge1 well you gotta understand if we lost all of our cash, had nothing, where shot at, drugged and all that crap, well you might rethink that thought you said lol

  • @CATsponge1 The gun was fake any way :)

  • I found a moist towelette with this URL written on it in my wallet. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Bendermos hehe are you homo

  • lol the ending would be better if they had the whole roof blanketed instead of that small area where he jumps, makes it more realistic

  • sorry, but this was one of the worst twist endings ive ever seen. why would they make him shoot his own brother on his birthday??? i mean, even if it was fake, what's the point? and besides, the game CANNOT be that smart. nicholas could've gone back into the building for all they knew, he could have gone home. also, there's a certain point where you have to ACTUALLY END THE MOVIE, and not just keep thinking its the end when suddenly it isnt. for all those who disagree, sorry. its just my opinion

  • i watched the movie yesterday

    verry epic movie

  • The whole meaning behind this movie is that those of us who take the important things for granted should change their lives and appreciate things like family and friends alot more. In the end, after everything Nicholas had been through, it was like a wake up call for him to change and be more caring and respecful to those who care for him. You'd get almost the same results after a near death experience. People change. Its a complete transformation from an old way of life to a new one.

  • how could they predict exactly where he was gonna jump and land?

  • @goblethisgoblethat Its a movie.

  • @JOINTHERESISTANCE1

    IT MAKES NO SENSE

  • @goblethisgoblethat

Because they did a psych test on him earlier in the movie.

  • Because "X" marks the spot.

  • @0ucantstopme0

Then how come they didn't assume he would shoot himself instead of jump?

  • @goblethisgoblethat That may have been a possibility they considered, but there are parts in the movie that showed he was VERY affected by his father's death (i.e., jumping off a building). Also, perhaps all the tests he took at the beginning of the movie for the "game" showed everyone how REALLY affected he was by his dad's death, and that he had suicidal thoughts about jumping to his own death? Just speculation.

  • @goblethisgoblethat even he he would, the bullets are fake so he wouldn't die and they would just probably conglaturate him on the roof

  • @goblethisgoblethat They assumed he go straight, because why would he go to crooked. But the bottom line is it's a movie. suspend disbelief a bit, enjoy the ride

  • It's just a game!? But why the hell his brother has blood on his suit?

  • Because they made that look real, too. That was also part of the game. They predicted that he would act the way that he did.

  • I know you're kidding w/ that question, and you actually realize it's a blood pack (or squib). But, be careful. This IS YouTube & people will actually believe you to be stupid. Good one though. lol

  • One of the best movies. Can't help but cry everytime i see that scene of him hugging his brother at his party.

  • 5:54 spike jonze

I love the fact that even after he trys to kill himself, its all set up

  • HAHA! That is Spike Jonze! I never noticed that till now.

  • Best and most intense film Ive watched for years.Amazing..

  • the very ending was such a huge relief when i first watched the movie.moreover nothing's more intense than sibling love. period.

i bet michael d. was giving a good fuck back then.

  • Honestly said what kind of horror movie has a happy ending :)

  • 'Scare Tactics' on a colossal scale. Reborn afterwards. I love for that to happen to me without being presented the bill for the charade. LOL, that's assuming I could survive such a shock. Never get tired of this movie. Knew Fincher was going to deliver a good movie after Se7en and Alien3. Then of course Fight Club and Ben Button recently proves his talent.

  • I saw this game in the theater with a friend of mine... we were freaked out for a while, but really enjoyed it... bought it on DVD, and it never gets tired... ever.... the soundtrack is especially good, and the ending just makes me cry....

  • I just noticed a mistake here, when Michael Douglas tells her to get on the radio to speak to her boss, he hands her the walkie talkie which she then throws on the floor, but then in the next clip you can see that she's holding the walkie talkie....

  • I don't know if the younger kids who see this film appreciate how amazing this shit was back in '97. When he jumped off the roof, I remember everyone going 'holy shit!'

  • Thanks!

  • the song is, Jefferson Airplane -White Rabbit. :)

  • i was just waiting for ashton kutcher to come out

  • Hi!!

Is there anybody who knows the name of the song that's playing when Nicklas is entering his house and it's full of graffity?

It's in the end of the film, too.

    Thanks!

  • jaferson airplane - White Rabbit

  • I like this film so much!

  • The Game. You just lost.

  • There are a lot of unexplained openings in this movie, but I it would kill me not to say that anyone falling from that height and hitting ceiling glass would most certainly die, and possibly not even break the glass depending on the thickness.

  • breakaway glass...

and like you said, it's a movie. not rl.

god knows movies are always realistic :/

  • Yeah, didn't think about it being that type. And I know movies are made for entertainment, but they all are made to be viewed for you to think that it's actually somewhat possible for the events of the movie to happen in real life., so me and many other people can't help but try and point out things like this in the movie

  • no, lol, i meant, the guys who showed and helped nick up even said it was breakaway glass.

sorry if i came off as mean or anything and offended you. :P

  • "I was drugged and LEFT 4 DEAD in mexiko - and all I got was this stupid T-shirt"haha! 6:43
