Awww... I liked David Froman IMMENSELY as a teenager, had kinda a real crush on him. In Russia, EON was on in the mid-90ies (1994) when I was 11. Got stunned by Gunther's appearance & behaviour and became a life-long David Froman FAN... lol

I'm very impressed that this clip looks like it's probably from the 80s & this character has the shaved head/goatee combo that did not become popular till the mid to late 1990s !!

This clip is actually from the summer of 1981, yeah Gunther was very popular on EON because of his bald head, bad boy and cool composer. He was the type of character you really wanted to hate, but a lot of us viewers grew to like him, because he added comic relief to the show in a strange way. We were pissed when they killed him off, but in true soap fashion, we were happy he came back as a twin, lol!! David Froman was a good actor (RIP).

Yes.. David Froman died last Monday from cancer.. Gunther will live on forever on " The Edge Of Night " I am sure he is stil lthe butler for Mr and Mrs. Whitney

I think that his twin was the one with the big heart. Funny thing is both his and Sky's chacters are impostures on these clips. This was really Bruno Wagner pretending to be his twin bother Gunther. Also this was not the real Sky Whitney, it was Jefferson Brown, an ex-agent who assumes Sky's identity after he believed that Sky was killed in a plane crash. The real Sky and Gunther would return before the serie ended. Funny thing is nither men knew the other was an imposture. Classic!!!

hey.. you got it right,.. not sure if it was the plan to introduce the real sky and gunther but Larkin Malloy and David Froman did such a great job they just had to bring them back.. it was only about 3 months i think before the real Sky Whitney showed up...

I thought I'd post to let all loyal EON viewers know that I have contacted the Hallmark network to see if they would air reruns of The Edge of Night, I have to wait for the response, but I think they will look into it.

No soap did mob stuff as good as Edge did in its

heyday.....any time I see some daytime soap trying

to have a mob storyline, they always strike me as

EDGE was written as a crime melodrama/mystery show, not your typical soap. For that reason, in its heyday, more than 50% of its audience was male, a rarity at the time.
