um no, its a Ford. its built in Ford's Dearborn, Michigan assembly plant. it was developed by SVT. the only reason it has Shelby all over it is to signify a tribute to the original GT500 and Mr. Shelby himself. NOW the Super Snake is a Shelby though, considering it is a base GT500 that's been taken to Shelby Automobiles, Inc. and tuned out to 725hp.

its still a Ford either way. it has a Ford engine, which is what you said was weak.

um again, no. the all iron supercharged 5.4L Modular engine is ALL Ford. it was developed by SVT. all it is is a tuned up version of the old Lightning engine. Shelby had nothing to do with the engine, nor did they have anything to do with the car itself.

it is no "tribute to the origional" it is an evolution, for it is an uprated version of the stock mustang, using similar upgrades and a simialr setup. shelby has given engine tips for almost all there high performance engines. also you must know that not all mustangs are gt500's, and that mustangs arent instantly muscle cars because of gt500's.

I too used to hate the miata until i watched a cable car show called the power block where they did a step by step on how you can drop a 5.0 mustang engine in a miata turing into a serious little sleeper. Every since that show ive looked at miata's diffrenentlly

The only thing i know ktm for is the ridiculosly expensive price tags. Everything seems to start at 50€. Even the smallest parts are overpriced. You may have the bike with most quality out there, but you feel a little "used" after services..

Other than that, great show.

Its a car that doesn't have to go fast, per se, to be fun. If all you can enjoy in a sporty car is straight-line speed, then I feel sorry for you - there aren't a whole lot of places you can enjoy your car. The Miata is great precisely because it can be enjoyed almost anywhere at any speed.

Derek, there's a flaw in your logic. The Veyron is one of the fastest accelerating/top speed production cars and it's a fat-boy car.

I get what you mean about smaller and lighter is faster, but you can just as easily boost the hp/weight ratio by boosting hp instead of cutting weight/size.

Those who buy the miata doesn't care about the image but for the driving experience and the pleasure of open top driving. Front engined, rearwheel drive, long bonnet, not too much power and lightness is the elements of a true roadster or should I say, british roadster. The common sports car is a 2 door coupe, front engined and rear wheel drive but any car built JUST the for pleasure of driving is classified as a sports car.

Pwn me as you will but in the months before the Miata hit in 1989 I heard that the Mazda designers and engineers who worked on it used the MGB as the bench mark. When I heard that I held instant admiration for the Miata. For the record the MGB is still respected in the UK as a sports car, a small, light car that is fast because of how it works the corners and not because of it's horse power. I'm too big to drive the current model or the previous two generations, at least not with the top up. And where I live, there's only a couple month out of the year where topless driving is comfortable.
