@farboy1162007 That is what growing up in the 70s was like, musically. Every day was full of new fresh amazing music. Unless you experienced it, you would never understand the vast explosion of sounds that came from that decade
man these guys were so great....they had such a big daring progressive sound in the late 1970's. they still sound great. they just don't make bands like this anymore.
there will never be another boston no other band has ever made a song like this or foreplay/longtime the best band of the the70's .long live Brad Delp... Chuck 537
boston is one of the best or if not the best band of the70's no other band can make another double song like this one & foreplay/longtime this one very cool band .long live Brad delp.
It is so awesome having the honor of existing in this world during a time when such great musicians existed. This album brings back such fantastic memories of my life. These guys were so great at what they did I would pay $100 a ticket just to watch them eat a bowl of cereal. Thanks for posting this, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I was privy to see Brad on tour with the band in 2003 in Houston on the front row at the Woodlands Pavillion. And what a voice. The Band had Fran Cosmo for the high / high notes, but was one hell of a concert. Saw Boston again in 2008, same location, after Brad's passing...Yommy Decarlo 7 Michael Sweet were lead vocals... no where close to the same blending and voice quality. What a waste of talent.
I love this so much. I was married in 2009 in St. Thomas over looking the ocean and one of the deal breakers that I had with my then "future wife" was that I wanted to dance to this after the nuptiuals. She agreed....she is now just "wife"....:D
i really wish i was born in this time period with u guys. the music today is horrible, im 13 and i wish i had the privelage to go to concerts like boston. id spend my weekends at the collectibles shops reading MAD magazine and looking at vintage vinyls. thank god my dad got a turntable for his birthday!! :)))
I used to play this whole record (yes, record, not the CD) in 1981 on my big sis's turntable--headphones on. Damn good music came out in late 70's and early 80's. I think I had good taste in rock as a kid.
Great tune like the rest by Boston. And Boston is one of those groups you can stop listening to for a long time. Then listen to them again its like brand new. This band was so far ahaid of its time when they came out. Timeless.
1 dislike? Who the F could not love this? The lead in is a bit boring if you are not a boston fan, but still? with no synth? and this is my favorite Bradley delp song ever. Best chorused voice i've EVER heard, and i'm pretty picky about this shit.
I was thinking abotu this today, who could come close? Freddie Mercury, maybe Geddy Lee, the guy from Rainbow....
But in this genre, and certainly this song, _nobody_ beats Bradley Lord Delp of Boston.
i don't remove comments, i let them stand. six days later i read what i wrote here and i was being an asshole about this "rock band" game. i watch my nieces kids play this game and they have asked me several times to join in, i can't play a chunk of plastic parts. i need the real thing. piano, drums, guitar or bass, whatever. when the kids are done, they switch over the channel to 80's rock, because the youngest one likes the music from all the games he plays. ok, go that route.
put your star dust aside kid, for now. there are 250,000 people just like you. this is no game. so.. what are you telling me? i don't know, you tell me and us.
In my opinion the best and most creative rock band from the classic rock era! Not slamming bands like Zeppelin or anything. There sound has never been matched, I think if all the law suites didnt take place they could have been even bigger!
I always thought the design concepts a cool trip, massive guitar shapes ships 3 times the size of cities. They would've blew Independance Day's ships away lol.
They coulda made some cool animation videos back then.
Im only 16, and obvisouly didn't grow up around this music, but to tell ya the truth, this is my favorite band, and is the only band Iknow of that has songs that never get annoying to me.
Has anyone tried to connect this to Don't Look Back?
I'm sure that they connect, considering DLB ends the same way this starts. I tried to edit them together in Audacity but there was always a 'click' when it changed to The Journey, I gave up after a while :(
Thanx for posting...2nd album I ever had, got it for Christmas '78. People who praise the old days and say how everything sucks today need to remember what it was like to be a huge music fan back then...I had nvr heard of or saw a used record store til '83. A new album in Mich came to $7.27 w/ the 4% sales tax at the time. A kid working at McD's for $3.10 min wage worked nearly 3 hrs to buy it. The much-desired Kiss Alive II,TNT's Double Gonzo & Zep Phy Grf....$14.55, That's like $45 now
rush is the shit! their from toronto canada! but litledevel15 your kinda right acdc isint that great all the song looks too much the same and its kinda getting anoying
I mainly got hooked on rock n roll when I bought guitar hero 2 about 3 years ago, just becasue of that, I know a decent amount of information on rock n roll. Now I listen to most 70's rock. My favorite bands that I absolutly love are Rush (saw them live last year), Heart, and Boston. they all have my rock n roll heros, Geddy Lee, Nancy and Anne Wilson, Roger Fisher, then Brad Delp and Tom Scholz
I agree with the first four, my favorite song from zep is probably dazed and confused, or achilles in the land. Pink floyd is beast, david gilmour and roger waters make an absolute great duo, favorite song by them is Time and Money, gilmour has a nice a clear sound in those songs especially in Time, King crimson is good I've only listened to elephant talk by them, which is a funny and great song, and black sabbath is awsome, Tony Iommi is such a great guitarist, favorite song by them is NIB.
I ran out of space in my other comment, but the rest I don't really care for. AC/DC was ok, For those about to rock and a long way to the top were probably my favorite just because it didn't sound like every other song they did. GNR annoys the hell out of me, axl's voice is terrible I can't stand it, slash was ok at guitar but when you listen to AFD is sounded all the same. Duff Mckagen was good though. and I don't really care for Iron Maiden that much, Trooper is alright but its whatever
Those are fantastic selections, but lets not forget: Van Halen - the first four albums (with Dave) Queen - Day at the Races & Night at the Opera Deep Purple - Machinehead Journey - Evolution and Infinity albums Cheap Trick - Dream Police and Heaven Tonight albums Def Leppard - High & Dry album Edgar Winter Group - They Only Come Out at Night album Kansas - Leftoverture (and almost any other album of theirs from the 70's) Ted Nugent - Double Live Gonzo Triumph - Allied Forces
Yup. Those are all good. However, in my opinion they are not unique innovators. The reason why I listed Iron Maiden - Killers (influenced by Hendrix) is that it contains a unique blend of Punk Metal that set the stage for the 80s, perhaps more so than Van Halen which borrowed from ZZ top and Led Zep. They had a diff singer which was rad. I also didn't mention the Beatles, who directly influenced Boston nor Hendrix. The bands I listed all pioneered a signature form of sound.
I didn't realize that your list was determined by that criteria. I would gave to argue then that Queen, Edgar Winter and Kansas were indeed unique innovators. They may not have created a genre, but their uniqueness was in the use of other types of music (and instruments) brought into rock music. With The albums I mentioned are definitely worth a listen by anyone who wants to become more familiar with the great classic rock of the 60's, 70's and early 80's. All landmark and signature albums.
Yeah I listen to most of them, Van halen was so amazing with Dave, Panama, Ice Cream Man, Beautiful Girls, and Unchained.Queen was so good, after the 70's they horrible though with the whole Bites the Dust shit. Deep Purple is really good, Glen Hughs and Ritchie Blackmore. Triumph reminds me of Rush because they're also a three person band from Canada lol, tred Nugent is crazy by himself and when he was is Damn Yankee. Cheap trick I like too, really good musicians out there:)
some more would be Jethro Tull, Judas Priest (the british steel album) Motorhead(ace of spades) Fleetwood Mac (Rumors), anything from Aerosmith is great, Ozzy Osborne (their first two albums cause randy rhoades was a amazing guitarist) the first four Metallica albums, Motley Crue would be some more to consider
I saw Boston on the very first tour...1977 at The Palace Theatre in Albany NY ....they had to do cover songs to make it whole show....Long time is Burned in my Brain from that show Tom's Gold sparkeld Chuck Taylors were unforgettable....AHH the good ole days!!
Thank God for the Rock Band game..it does nothing to help anybody learn how to actually play an instrument, but it at least has introduced younger folks to some of the kick-ass rock music their generation, for the most part, has been sadly deprived of.
@ascender555 Hey man, Rock band taught me how to play the basics of the Bass, now I'm a great musician. And it taught my friend how to play drums. Once you get to ezpert mode you can begin to learn the actually instrument and for some can be a great bridge to stardom.
@ascender555 I agree, but now it's gotten even better.
with rock band 3 it actually teaches people how to play the actual instrument, they use real guitars/(2-Octave)Keyboards, idk about the drums but it's gotten pretty advanced.
hoping to get hold of that game so i can learn some queen or something on piano :P
the sole reason i got into boston was via the rock band game. i downloaded the songs from the 'boston' album and i was hooked. now i'm slowly building up a collection of all their work.
I had the great privelege to see Boston in 1995. Brad had moved on but joined for this show I went to. It was my birthday and hearing and actually seeing them dang near brought tears to my eyes. (I don't care if that makes me a sissy)
Boston is so cool, because they exploded out of no where in 76 with a sound no one else had and hasn't since, plus the the vocals of the best lead singer in Rock, the first three cd's, if you listen good, it is Brad's voice alone you hear on lead and all the back ground vocals, depending on the song, he sings 4 to 6 parts. Pretty freakin' amazing to me and he sounds fabulous. That's why!
Yes, this album was as good as the first and some parts are even better. Some are worse but some are, actually, better. Production was better on this album than the first and better than any other album that came after it too. By production I mean the quality of the recording. Now that's sad.
